The question of what matters most to me leaves me bewildered. What more can you expect from a 20 something year old. There are a variety of things that matter to me, be it my dream to leave a mark in the world, or my passion for my favourite hobby. The desire to travel the world all by myself, the hope of having that perfect love story, wanting to make my parents proud while at the same time rebelling against outdated traditions and ideas. Forming newer mindsets yet respecting my value system. Wanting to unfurl the tricolour whenever I hear the national anthem, but also protest and rally when any nirbhaya suffers from the evil doings of my society.
I want to become an agent of change at the same time nostalgia is so very dear to my heart.
I value god but I also value tolerance and religious freedom. At this point I might sound like a confused soul but all I am is what they call “ young blood”, with passion in my heart and curiosity in my mind. Among all the things of value to me, there is one that takes prominence. It has its strands in all of the aforementioned. I call it it “ Experiences” and it is these experiences that I value the most. It is these experiences that make me different from and yet alike several other fellow human beings. The experience of studying a course, debating over a political or a social issue, reflecting on a movie, attending my favourite music concert, falling in and out of love with people and the like are what ultimately life is about. These experiences and learnings drawn on the way are perhaps critical to navigating life and help us to contribute meaningfully both to our professions and the world around us.
One day when I am older and probably wiser, I’d gladly want to know for myself and also share, what mattered the most to me in life. Until then it is these experiences that shall be the closest to my heart.
