...Cultural Diversity SOC/315 Version 4 miakza6 Diversity includes everyone, because people differ from one another in many ways. The following are many dimensions of diversity. The following are just a few dimensions of diversity: gender, race, ethnicity, age, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, language, veteran status, religious beliefs, marital status, parental status, education, income, occupation, and geographic location. Culture is the whole of values, beliefs, and behaviors common to a large group of people. A culture may include shared language and folklore, communication styles, and ideas and thinking patterns. Hispanic culture has a strong family foundation, therefor the members in my social circle are common, because of the same values we are programmed to have. The word diversity represents a large group involves different people with different experiences. These differences include race, color, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status or citizenship. However, diversity, does not address how these different people function or work. Inclusion enables us to strive to allow everyone to feel welcomed and valued. ...Media Reaction Paper Michael Vandiver Soc/315 July 7, 2015 Anita Westbrook Media Reaction Paper Hispanic immigrants are handy scapegoats for the problems in local communities, from crime to overcrowded schools. Even legal immigrants are victims of this mindset, in spite of immigration not being the root cause or even a major factor in any of the issues. Immigration has always been an issue. Those making up the majority of the population are all immigrants from other nations, having descended from those who immigrated here over the course of the last 400 years. Some of the areas in which Hispanic immigrants are most numerous were at one point the property of the Hispanic nation of Mexico. Immigrants built this country, and certain segments of the immigrants have always been accused of ruining this country. Recently, Arizona passed a law, SB 1070, which requires the police to question the legal status of those they suspect are undocumented immigrants. Additionally, it sets the official immigration police as ‘attrition through enforcement’, stating that they intend to be so harsh that immigrants flee in fear. (Martinez, 2011). Currently, the law is on hold due to challenges by the US Department of Justice for usurping federal jurisdiction on immigration. However, the law has set a horrid precedent, one that has resulted in boycotts that are costing Arizona more than $330 million dollars over the next two to three years. (Martinez, 2011). Similar anti-immigration campaigns...

(TCO A) Which of the following does NOT always increase a company's market value? (Points : 5) Increasing the expected growth rate of sales Increasing the expected operating profitability (NOPAT/Sales) Decreasing the capital requirements (Capital/Sales) Decreasing the weighted average cost of capital Increasing the expected rate of return on invested capital 2. (TCO F) Which of the following statements is correct? (Points : 5) The NPV, IRR, MIRR, and discounted payback (using a payback requirement of 3 years or less) methods always lead to the same accept/reject decisions for independent projects. For mutually exclusive projects with normal cash flows, the NPV and MIRR methods can never conflict, but their results could conflict with the discounted payback and the regular IRR methods. Multiple IRRs can exist, but not multiple MIRRs. This is one reason some people favor the MIRR over the regular IRR. If a firm uses the discounted payback method with a required payback of 4 years, then it will accept more projects than if it used a regular payback of 4 years. The percentage difference between the MIRR and the IRR is equal to the project’s WACC. 3. (TCO D) Church Inc. is presently enjoying relatively...

...1. What are the dimensions of cultural diversity? Identify and briefly explain the dimensions by referencing both textbooks. Diversity in the workforce has evolved throughout history. From ancient times where nobility and religious figures ruled all to more current times with the struggle for civil rights in the 1960s or the workforce diversity in the 1990s with woman and different ethnic groups becoming leaders and executives. According to the text, diversity is defined “as the ways in which people differ that may affect their organizational experience in terms of performance, motivation, communication, and inclusion” (Harvey, 2009, p. 1). Dimensions of diversity include components related to a person's race, gender, ethnic background, religious/spiritual dogmas, lifestyle, sexual orientation, age, abilities, and appearance (Schaefer, 2012). These are known as primary dimensions. Secondary dimensions are considered less central to someone’s social identity. Some examples are: Geographic location, military/work experience, family status, income, education, communication and work styles, and first language/education. 2.
