I have chosen the above topic, due to the fact I feel that in the past with the Social Media there was not so much conflicts with people, children as well with the communication. There was not to much violence , children killing each other the social media as well was not so crazy and bad as it is now. Very good Example Face Book back then we didn’t have that or Tweeter , Etc. Nothing back then was so complicated and crazy as it is now. The Social Media at this time Present is at this has affected a lot of people teenagers are now involved in so many things that affect them , in school , emotionally , kids , at home , the media now has become like a addiction specially to the teenagers that are in schools etcs a lot of this has helps people that are mean out there to be able to communicate with children that are under age, perfect example the topic Bully now a days the Social Media people use it to bully other children that for them is the easiest way to either bully, or get children under age involve in things that have nothing to do with there ages. I think that the media should be more careful in regards to tracking little kids that don’t have to be involve when it comes to the face book or tweeter, for me I don’t think that it should exist because due to all this face book some people commit either suicide it has become more close in , and write things that some of there own family will not even find out till it is too late. Specially children that some parents are not involve there are the perfect example when it comes to the media , because they start feeling lonely , when you come to realize it is too late to go back and say what if. So it is very important that parents, people in general should be very careful with the media and the implications that it will be in your life. For myself as future for the social media I would and want to see very different

The Man Behind the Message

...Marshall McLuhan “The Man behind the message” A professor from Winnipeg, Marshall was one of the world’s most innovative thinkers. His theories about mass media turned him into a media guru. Arguably most famous for his quote “The medium is the message” Many would consider Marshall to be a brilliant man; others would say they don’t understand a word he is saying. I wonder how much thought his skeptics have put into what he had to say. I will agree that some of his theories are not clear at first but once dissected you begin to understand the man behind the message. “The message of any medium or technology is the change of scale or pace or pattern that it introduces into human affairs. The railway did not introduce movement or transportation or wheel or road into human society, but it accelerated and enlarged the scale of previous human functions, creating totally new kinds of cities and new kinds of work and leisure. This happened whether the railway functioned in a tropical or northern environment, and is quite independent of the freight or content of the railway medium. (Understanding Media, NY, 1964, p. 8) What McLuhan writes about the railroad applies with equal validity to the media of print, television, computers and now the internet. “The medium is the message” because it is the “medium that shapes and controls the scale and form of human association and action.” (E. McLuhan) Now, some may be thinking that they don’t understand the message of the preceding paragraphs...

Today’s advanced technology and growing population have required health care organizations to evolve. Changes in health care can present challenges, and the challenges must be addressed and dealt with accordingly. Today’s health care system is changing. In order for health care to remain a competitive force in today’s business world, it must be aware of the shifts taking place that will affect them. Social media, advancements in technology and awareness of consumer behavior are three shifts currently taking place in the healthcare field. Knowledge of how these shifts work to improve health care is beneficial to assist health care organizations in providing quality care. Social media has grown in popularity in the last decade. Health care organizations have begun to utilize social media to reach out to their consumers and provide preventive, managed health care. “Social media provide people with additional opportunities to enhance their knowledge and their ability to care for themselves, and online communities are attracting older and broader audiences” (Thielst, 2013, p. 3). By using social media to communicate and collaborate health care providers and consumers can work together to develop a plan of care. Advancements in health care technology have changed the way that health care is diagnosed, treated, monitored and delivered to consumers. Communication...

...Is It Worth the Risk? Social Media and Healthcare Robert Shaw NR360: Info Systems Chamberlain College of Nursing Fall 2015 Is It Worth the Risk? Social Media and Healthcare Social media has taken over the way that we interact with one another. It is leading the way in which we communicate with family, friends, coworkers and strangers. It is also the way we keep up with our favorite celebrities and gossip. Social media and the use of smartphones are becoming more prevalent in business and the healthcare field as well. According to Pew Research Center, “62% of smartphone owners have used their phone in the past year to look up information about a health condition” (April, 2015). Technology, just like all things come with flaws and setbacks. However, with the new technology being created every day, along with the increasing use of both smartphones and social media, using these outlets for patient-provider relationships can enhance overall patient trust and care. That being said, ensuring that patient privacy is not violated has to be the number one priority. Advances in technology and media can pose great triumphs for healthcare further down the road, as long as the appropriate measures are taken to ensure that HIPAA standards are being met at all times while using these outlets. Technology’s Effect on Social Values and Communication Skills

...Technology’s Effect on Social Values and Communication Skills Introduction The three main stakeholders in this issue are the youth, middle generation (my age), and the middle-aged people that are involved in social networking and texting. I feel that the issue can be narrowed down to a past, present, and future where the middle-age is the past, my generation is the present, and the youth is the future. Each of these age groups have a different stake in the issue, but are all connected together within our society through the extended use of technology. As our society evolves, so does our technology. These technologies are made to make our lives easier and more enjoyable, but are they really just making us socially inept? While the advance in technology has been proven to be a benefit in communication, medicines, law, and education, maybe it is a curse within itself. Social media and texting offer ways for people to communicate globally, practically simultaneously, but our society is becoming completely dependent on these technologies, struggling to communicate outside of them, and it is ruining the social capabilities of the youth. Younger Generations The youth may have the most to gain or lose with the advance in technology. Their lives are beginning much different than those of their parents or older siblings. Kids are getting cell phones, social media websites such as Facebook, and video game consoles with internet capability at a much younger age. When used...

Future of Modernization

...Modernization is the way culture and society manifests itself through environmental, social, economic, and political changes for the good of the masses. Modernization is a worldwide movement; some of these manifestations have been positive, and indeed, progressive while other “advances” have been harmful and destructive. This paper will explore the consequences and trends of modernization, several different theories of modernization, and what possibilities it has for the future. Modernization is characterized by four key elements, which are committees becoming smaller in exchange for larger urban developments (cities), and the desire for individualized choice and the development of diversified societies. Modernization has been transforming society for thousands of years, developing ideas to help people with daily task to better that person’s life. This, of course, was the purpose of the industrial revolution during the late 1700s, (Macionis, p. 485). This industrialization period, which began in England and the United Kingdom, led to the extensive growth of Europe’s ability to produce. There were significant population growth in urban areas and increased earning potential for limited and unskilled laborers. This period was also marked with poor living conditions, limited changes for education, and little regulation for child labor. The highs and lows that coincide with events of the industrial revolution are often seen when discussing modernization. The good of the industrial...

The Future of British Media

Technology and Management Functions

...Management Functions When describing how technology and management function within my personal work environment. I had to review the past and present management alongside the mass media and how it would pertain to this paper; Giant RV has neglected to update their technology to increase their ability to overcome past setbacks. Technology, mass media, and outstanding management have never been a large importance in the recreational vehicle industry. This industry has been behind in technology for many years, it has become increasingly harder to improve standards to public when management will not spend the extra cost to explore new avenues. It would be to the companies benefit to explore the Internet, radio, newspapers, television, and to other industries to increase knowledge on how other companies venture out to expand their profit through mass media. If management within the recreational vehicle industry would implement new standards to improve how the recreational vehicle industry does business this might increase revenue throughout the United States and within Giant RV. By doing this it could change many of the standards already in place throughout the United States and how other recreational vehicle dealerships do business. Mass Media With many ways to explore how management can overcome this setback they could look at how the mass media has implemented suggestions within the population so that many will follow the media’s recommendation on trends and political thoughts...

Failing Gender

...It has been argued that your gender can be the reason you're failing your class. It's true how someone's gender can affect them so greatly? This has been occurring throughout history and still is happening today. But in order to approve upon this subject and help people become more prepared for life we have to look at the past, present, and what content or knowledge the opposite gender and your gender are missing. In the past your gender had a lot to do with how much education you received and what you were taught. For example, in Colonial times in America boys learned based on their wealth/social status. Poor boys usually only went to school until they were of working age (8-10) however the rich ones would most likely...

Social Media in the Product Development Strategy

...Social Media in the Product Development Strategy by Jens Gutermann Integrated communication has emerged as both the core element and one of the main challenges facing corporate communication over the last few years. Everything revolves around communication. As companies dicker over gaining customers’ favor, integrated communication appears to offer an escape from the bewildering multitude of options available for customeroriented and targeted communication with users. New forms of information and communication commonly known as social media or Web 2.0 have opened up evolutionary and revolutionary opportunities for positioning products and services on the market and getting in touch with consumers. However, this also poses a new and completely different type of challenge with regard to our communication, particularly when it comes to integrated communication. Companies are finding themselves in a problematic situation where comparison with competitors is just a mouse click away, and where only strong brand identities that are able to incorporate social media in their integrated communication strategy manage to withstand the information overload. If we consider the fundamental aim of integrated communication, namely to achieve the greatest possible degree of control, this contrasts paradoxically with the situation described. The information society was still a thing of the future in the 1980s, and when it became a reality in the 1990s, yet another future started to beckon. It...

Cloud Computing

...can be viewed as the heart pumping the blood into innovations. The internet has been a very innovative upgrade to our society and continues to grow at a fast pace. In recent years, the internet has grown by leaps and bounds, including higher speeds and new ways of receiving internet (no longer just dial up or cable modems). This innovation has resulted in adding to technology available to the population that is now considered the norm. No one can predict the future, however when looking at the trends over the years in technology and the internet, there is a great chance this growth isn’t going to slow down. More devices and services will be available as time goes on and will be added to what is considered the norm. It seems when looking in time, say five or ten years back, we look at technology and wonder, how were we able to be productive during that time. How was I able to function as I do now? The other side to that question is how will we look back at the present time five or 10 years from now? What will the future look like; will we finally see the products we’ve dreamed about as a kid? Things like flying cars and jet packs, or being able to travel to the moon and back...
