...An increasing trend in the corporate world today is to use internet search engines and social networking sites (SNS) in order to screen job applicants. Employers want to know as much information as possible about their employees before investing the time and money required to incorporate them into their companies. One common site used in these searches is Facebook.com. Facebook is a social networking site originally limited to the use by college community, but in more recent years, it has been open to the general public (Clark & Roberts, 2010). Founded in 2004, the site now has over 1 billion users (Vance, 2012). As one of the most trafficked site in the United States, Facebook is one of the primary networking sites used for pre-employment screening. The site allows the uploading of personal pictures and videos that can be shared with a select group of people or with the public as a whole. Registered users also have the ability to join groups, which range in topic from support of a particular sports team, political issue, or hobbies the person may be interested in (Clark & Roberts, 2010). An employer searching a profile may gain access to all of this information and can use it to decide which candidates to interview and/or hire. While Facebook has many different control settings allowing users to limit and/or block the viewing of their individual profiles, there are numerous ways around these leaving users vulnerable to searches performed by curious employers (Clark...

...then the performance evaluation is maybe unnecessary.” I would have to disagree with the above statement. In my opinion and experience, I have seen some individuals who have a wonderful relationship with their supervisor or boss, but their work performance was a totally different story. I have also seen instances where individuals have poor work performance, but because of their availability and the fact that they are the only one who is willing to do a certain job they get away with a lot. I think that a performance evaluation is necessary and it needs to be written or typed out, dated, and signed. There are so many things happening as far as lawsuits that you can never be too vulnerable. I understand that a few companies have the social sites, but a standard evaluation record would not hurt. Sometimes supervisors or managers do not communicate an individual’s performance in regular conversations. Some people really do believe that if they have a good relationship with their supervisor then they have nothing to worry about and when an evaluation is done they are shocked at the scores or recommendations for improvement. I remember when I worked as an assistant store manager, I had some excellent workers and we had good relationships with one another. As the manager of those employees I still saw areas that could use some improvement and I relayed this to them during evaluations. There are other times when managers will tell an employee to improve their work, but because...

...Internet service that links cars, home computers and smartphones so users can find nearby tourist spots, connect on social networks and learn about new models. The beefed up version of Toyota's Internet site Gazoo.com starts May 30 in Japan, and will be based on "cloud" computing from Microsoft called Windows Azure. Overseas plans are still undecided. According to the U.S. software giant, it is the first time the technology, which also uses Sharepoint software, is being used for a company site. Gazoo.com users tripled over the last five years to 1.65 million. Toyota Motor Corp. said Friday it wants to raise that to 2 million over the next year. All the world's major automakers are working on similar technology to bring autos up-to-date with the Internet age, from finding restaurants to helping ensure safe driving. But a major motive for Toyota is appealing to younger Japanese, who are rapidly losing interest in buying cars and are spending their money on smartphones and video games. The trend is so widespread there is a coined phrase, "kuruma banare," or "departure from cars." Among the Net content in the works are video games, shopping-site links, virtual events and a special social network to chat about cars, according to Toyota. A smartphone application will guide drivers with an electronic voice to 30,000 destinations from 250 routes. The site will also offer information on more than 3,000 new and used models, including interviews with engineers. Switching...

...A comparison of healthcare systems James C. Meredith Strayer University A comparison of healthcare systems Monitoring Systems Advances in technology have given us the ability to monitor patients with wireless sensor networks attached miniature monitoring devices. This allows for continuous monitoring of the patients, and provide various types of data critical for each patient. A BSN can even alert medical staff of any event taking place with a given patient. “Body Sensor Networks (BSN) incorporates context aware sensing for increased sensitivity and specificity.” Unfortunately data collection and monitoring in real time takes a lot of continuous labor and effort, just as well these methods are very much prone to perpetual errors. A solution was proposed to use sensors of various medical equipment so that they could intercommunicate with each other and give each other required information to function properly with less effort on the staff’s part. The data the machines provide and exchange can be stored, and monitored within network cloud where a professional can keep track of the goings on and relay the necessary information to the medical professionals. These ideas can be time and lifesaving in the event of a doctor’s office or hospital visit. As opposed to medical staff having to check vitals, conditions and various other medical visit requirements, this cannot only provide more accurate information, it can free up time for medical staff to take care of other patients...

...Is Social Business working out? Ricardo Thomas Florida Tech University Is social business working out? summary of major issues The social media platforms growth in the average person's life has significantly altered our communication with each other, both at home and in the workplace. In recent years companies have been trying to leverage the power of social media within the business environment. Once the value of social business is understood and the effective use of the many available tools are utilized, it can be advantageous to an organization's bottom-line. Several known implementation challenges can be averted if these prerequisites are in place before implementing a tool. The example of the NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center which launched a custom-built enterprise social network called ‘Spacebook’ to help small teams collaborate without e-mailing larger groups demonstrated the need to have full employee buy-in. The program was quickly decommissioned, due to users being overlooked during its implementation. The design failed to take into account the users' adaptability, it didn’t focus on the people. It had been designed and developed without taking into consideration the organization's culture and politics. No one knew how Spacebook would help them to do their jobs, as opposed to an existing method of collaboration such as e-mail. The case demonstrates that while modern social and collaboration tools can be a huge benefit to productivity, most organizations...

...(Drugwatch, 2013). Yaz is also known to put women at a higher risk of hypertension (high blood pressure), blood clots, liver function, disturbances, liver tumors, anaphylactic reactions, changes in glucose levels that can lead to diabetes and worsen lupus (Drugwatch, 2013). The advantage for using social media is that it will spread all over the social networks like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Path. Females that have any of those social network accounts will be the main ones to help put the word out about Yaz encouraging other women to avoid taking this type of birth control. For example, promoting that Yaz has a recall on their drugs will help prevent women lives and their health. Yaz company does not care rather it is taking women lives and making their health at high risk, Yaz company only cares about rather their product is going to sell or how much money they going to make. Disadvantages for putting it on social media, the person who owns the social network receives an e-mail from that company stating that they want all the people that has been promoting the recall of the their drug to be reported and possibly try their best to get them kicked off the social network site. Social network is not the only way to communicate with women but television as well. New stations keeps up with the latest recalls on food, toys, cars, but most important drugs...

People are also always connected to their virtual community, so they will think there is no need to talk to or meet new people. Think of waiting at the doctor’s office. 10 years...

The establishment also provides appetizers and beverages to add to a comfortable and unique setting. With its remodeled interior of high ceilings and high energy lighting, the club offers a prismatic and high energy dance scene that artistically adds to the energy of the club. The club focuses on a high energy dance scene that provides Hip-Hop, techno, electronic and a MP3 Disc Jockey. Live music is occasional on hand and only adds to the extensive atmosphere. The primary clientele seems to a younger and more energetic customer. Though the club does attract a wide range of ages, the younger group outweighs the rest, due primarily on the music selections and the fast pace of the night club (Rainer & Turban, 2008). The younger crowd, in this day in age is more in touch with using the internet and the other resources that are tied into World Wide Web, i.e. mobile applications, mobile social networks.
