PREFERED SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES AND THEIR FEATURES

RATIONALE:
Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter, Intagram and Youtube are few examples of the relatively new phenomenon of Online Social Networking Sites. People of all ages are flocking to the internet and are signing up for different Social Networking Sites. Facebook for example, based on my research in some sites; there are 901 million monthly active users and more than 125 billion friend connections at the end of the month. This popularity of Social Networking Sites is constantly growing. We as students are set to take the advantage of the multiple collaboration tools and discussion opportunities provided by Social Networking Sites for higher education. Despite the fact that is limited guidance on how educators can integrate Social Networking Sites into subjects which have been traditionally delivered face to face, we to conduct a survey to know the information on the potential benefits or harmful effects using Social Networking Sites as a new innovative way to try to engage students and improve their achievements. Munoz and Towner support this effort when they suggest that,
“The benefit of Facebook’s networking and social communication capabilities can benefit both the instruction and the student by trapping into a greater number of learning styles, providing alternative to the traditional lecture format, creating an online classroom community, increasing teacher-student and student-student interaction. ”
If teacher are indeed encourage to bring Social Networking into the classroom, then the Research Question that begs to asked, and
