...The free health camp required voluntary and effective people’s participation to render its services. I volunteered in the camp and helped as much as I could. My participation in the health camp was useful enough to aid at least a few people. From managing the crowd to helping the ills, I contributed as much as I could. I assisted the health attendants in the camp which made it easier for them to perform their duties. I volunteered consistently in the week long health camp which was a virtuous contribution towards the betterment of the community. Hence, my service was useful because it helped the organization and the community as a whole. “Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.” This quote by the Light of Asia, Gautam Buddha, is content with the message for community service. The 42 hours of service at the health camp organized by K.B. Polyclinic was not just an opportunity to help the communal people of Banepa, but also a platform to learn something. The health camp basically enriched my information on health. I came across many diseases and health related issues in the camp during the service duration. I became quite acquainted with those health hazards and their prevention techniques while helping people during the health camp. I could use my experience from this camp to help people in similar health campaigns in days ahead. Apart from health issues, I learnt to work, coordinate...

...The current structure of existing social services are said to promote oppression, marginalization and alienation of groups of people that depend on social services. These negative attributes are said to originate from the significant role of impact of professional social workers within the system that gives them a form of power and privilege over people that depend on this services (Anderson and Carter, 2003). While oppression, marginalization and alienation are related, they have different meanings and context in social services. Oppression is defined in social services as the act of placing severe and undue restriction on an individual or a group by those that have the power and authority within a system. ...Impact of Social Media on the Financial Services Industry: In today’s age everyone is well aware of the significant impact that social media has had on our lives in the way we communicate, socialise, conduct business and view the world. This case study however, will attempt to narrow the scope of this theme, by looking specifically at the way in which social media has influenced the financial services industry. The evolution of social media has facilitated a change in the nature of the relationship between institutions and consumers within the financial services sector. Not all of these changes have, however, had a positive effect on financial institutions. Media convergence and the growth of user-generated content has blurred the lines between different platforms of media, and the distinction between producers and consumers (Australian Communications and Media Authority, 2011). Social media outlets such as YouTube provide a platform for individual users to become producers by distributing content that can be viewed anywhere in the world. As a result, anyone with an internet connection has access to more knowledge and information than any time previously in history. This has impacted the financial services sector as non-mainstream media platforms are increasing awareness of the risky and often corrupt practises of financial institutions, particularly within the banking industry. For example, Peter Schiff, an American stockbroker and CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, has used...

...Child Protective Services: The Social Worker Introduction Family, many would agree, is the one of the most important values in an individual’s life. For most, their families are their backbone constantly supporting, teaching, and accepting them since they were children. However, not all families provide the ideal setting for children to be raised, and sometimes these families endanger the child. This is where a social worker from child protective services steps in protecting children from neglect and abuse to provide a safe nurturing environment that children have a right to. A social worker from child protective services not only has to meet current and specific requirements, but, fulfills certain roles in regards to the clients and...

Although the agency does not advocate religion with its members and staff, the Lutheran Social Service is true to its goal. Which states; “Change the world - one grace-filled life at a time.” The mission is, therefore; “motivated by the compassion of Christ, we help people improve the quality of their lives.” The spring city corner clubhouse (SCCC) obviously does not invoke religious principles on its members nor does it screen its new members/clients on their religious background.
