STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS OF HIS EXCELLENCY

PRESIDENT BENIGNO S. AQUINO III

President Aquino on Monday, July 22, 2013 delivered his fourth state of the nation address (SONA). It was Pnoy’s longest SONA so far but has been applauded less frequently compared to last year.

SONA this year were focused on the achievements of the government on his term such as approval of the Sin Tax Reform Law and “ Responsible Parenthood Law”( RH Law), reforms in Education System(K-12), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program(4Ps), increase in number of TESDA graduates, increase in Phil Health enrollees from 62% to 81% and improved benefits, allocation of P 6.2 Billion for flood control in Metro Manila, completion of 9,377 housing units for typhoon Sendong victims, 63% reduction in number of private armed groups, 21.4 increase in foreign tourists arrivals in 2012 and 7.85 GDP(Gross Domestic Product) growth the first quarter of 2013.

However, it also highlights some of the changes to hike SSS contributions and train fares.

“We believe that it is time to amend the SSS Pension Scheme. We must establish measures that remedy the outflow of funds. If we add 0.6% to the contribution rate, it will immediately deduct P 141 billion from the unfunded liability, “Aquino said.

Pnoy said the need to reform pension Scheme is necessary to avoid depletion of SSS funds in the next 28 years. He also explains that fare hikes in MRT and LRT will be implemented. The government subsidizes each passenger’s fare by as much as P 45 and said to be unfair to residents from Visayas and Mindanao whoever set foot on the trains but fund the train operations.

It is common that SONA, President always make promises. Here are the some of the actions items of Aquino government for the next

The President's final SONA, which marked the opening of the Congress, started at exactly 4:00PM and ended after 2 hours. It earned several rounds of applause from an audience composed lawmakers, government officials, local and international media, dignitaries and other important personalites. PNoy started his speech by showcasing the disparity of his administration to that of Pampanga Representative and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, whereas he mentioned the fertilizer fund scam, the NBN-ZTE anomalous deal, and "Hello Garci" scandal which happened in the previous administration. He then highlighted the major achievements of his 5-year administration under the "Daang Matuwid" thrust, which includes the improved economy and outlook, increased collection of revenues and benefits of his social service programs, including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and PhilHealth.. One of the more interesting part of his SONA, however, was his veiled swipes at Vice President Jejomar Binay, the standard-bearer of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) for next year elections. He answered Binay's previous tirades that his administration is 'manhid' and 'palpak' by highlighting...

SO ano NA nga ba?

Sona 2015 Reaction Paper

...On July 27, 2015, President Benigno “PNoy” Aquino delivered his sixth and final State of the Nation Address, at Batasan Complex, Quezon City, which is considered as his longest SONA. For the past five years, the Philippines made a rapid advancement especially with regards to its economy. It seemed that the Philippine economy reacted positively with PNoy’s “Daang Matuwid”. The Philippines now is slowly climbing the global competitiveness rankings thanks to PNoy’s advocacy to good governance reforms. President Aquino, highlighted his speech with the achievements of his administration including the improved economy and outlook; increased collection of revenues and benefits of his social service programs (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps) and PhilHealth), comparing this to the past administration of Macapagal Arroyo including fertilizer fund scam; the NBN-ZTE anomalous deal and "Hello Garci" scandal. In our opinion, President Aquino rightly delivered a summary of what his administration has done to the country. He had to use previous administration's scandals so that the mistakes it incurred will not be repeated. The most unexpected part of his SONA was his indirect speech towards Vice President Jejomar Binay the standard-bearer of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) for next year elections and his presidential endorsement. Our President had dedicated his term on apprehending the corruption in our country. Comparing to the past administration, we can state that the...

Reaction Paper on President Aquino's 2nd Sona

...Reaction Paper on Pres. Aquino’s State of the Nation Address Before I begin writing my reaction on Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III’s second SONA, I would first like to define what SONA is. SONA or State of the Nation Address is an annual event in the Republic of the Philippines, in which the President of the Philippines reports on the status of the nation, normally to the resumption of a joint session of the Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate). This is a duty of the President as stated in Article VII, Section 23 of the 1987 Constitution: “ | The President shall address the Congress at the opening of its regular session. He may also appear before it at any other time. | ” | According to the constitution, the SONA delivered every 4th Monday of July at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. Pres. Aquino’s State of the Nation Address is the first SONA that I have ever read. It is hard for me to give a reaction for I could not evaluate or compare it with other SONA’s of the past presidents. I am torn with whether to give a positive reaction or negative reaction to President Aquino’s SONA. In the past years, I was aware that SONA is something to acknowledge for it states the progress, the current status of the country and the plans that are being imposed, although I am not well informed of those plans and progress. But President Aquino’s 2011 SONA was very modest and not very popular. I have never heard of it being mentioned continuously...

Pnoy's 5th Sona (2014): an Economic Reaction Paper

...5th PNoy SONA President Benigno "PNoy" Aquino III delivered his fifth State of the Nation Address in front of senators and congressmen in Batasan Complex, Quezon City on Monday, July 22, 2014. The President's penultimate SONA, which marked the opening of the 16th Congress, started at exactly 4:00PM and ended after an hour and 31 minutes. It earned 58 rounds of applause from an audience composed lawmakers, government officials, local and international media, dignitaries and other important personalites. PNoy started the SONA recounting how the Philippines, once called as the “sick of man of Asia” and transformed into one of the most promising economy in Asia. He stressed that the country has rebounded to become a tiger economy, much sought after by international investors, an achievement attributed to prudent fiscal management and good governance by the Aquino administration. This must mean that his administration has made many improvements for the nation’s economy, well, if and only if all the data he bragged are true. First economy-related item he emphasized was the around P1.6 billion fund was given to Training-for-Work Scholarship Program of TESDA. A total of 223,615 beneficiaries have graduated with an equivalent of 146,731 graduates currently working. As the saying goes, the human resource is the most important asset of on the organization, so this somehow contributes to the growth of a business and the economy. Moreover, many of these graduates are employed in the...

Within this session I had explored a lot about the methods and elements of dance the task was on one of the methods of dance which is “Action and Reaction, from previously using action and reaction In acting sessions i had a bit of a clue in what it could be and it was basically reacting to one another by giving one person an action for them to react to. The second part of the task was to get into pairs and we did this with the second year dancers who we didn’t know that well but this gave us a chance to communicate and get to know each other as well as working together. Once we was in pairs we then got asked to name each other A or B , in this task A was action and B was reaction. Marie showed an example of what she wanted us to do in pairs, she got poppy one of the second year students to stand still and Marie would tap one part of her body and poppy would react she did this by moving the arm fluently , or move her head slowly around or bend the knee. B then became A and we did the same thing. After this we then did the same thing but...

Chemical Equilibriu

...CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM Equilibrium occurs when the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of reverse reaction. Concentration of the reactants and the products remain the same. Dynamic equilibrium occurs when the processes do not stop and forward and reverse reactions still continue in both directions at the same rate. A homogeneous reaction is a reaction wherein all the reactants and products are in the same phase e.g. all are gases. A heterogeneous reaction is a reaction wherein all the reactants and products are not in the same phase. If there is no interaction between the system and its surroundings, i.e., a system from which no substances in the reaction can escape, we say it is a closed system. Calculation of the substance amount and concentration at equilibrium We can determine the concentration of the substance by dividing the number of mol of the substance at that stage of the reaction by the volume of the container in dm3, i.e.: c= n/V where c or [ ] = concentration of the substance in mol.dm-3 n = number of mol of the substance V = volume of the container in dm3 It is handy to use a table to determine these values. Example 1 A mixture of 5 mol H2(g) and 6 mol I2(g) are placed in a sealed container of 2 dm3 at a temperature of 4580C. The balanced chemical equation for the reaction is: Equilibrium is reached after a certain time. At equilibrium there is 4mol HI(g) in the container. Calculate the concentrations...

Factors Affecting Enzyme Activity

...Acetylcholinesterase Abstract: A series of three labs were combined to observe the effects of some common biological enzymes: Catalase, Tyrosinase, and Acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Enzymes are catalytic proteins, that when present in a chemical reaction, are able to lower the action potential needed to create the reaction without being destroyed or altered themselves in the process. In Part A, my hypothesis stated that when Catalase is combined with H2O2 the rate of conversion to water and oxygen gas should double when 5-10 drops of enzyme is added and quadruple when 10-20 drops are added. In Part B, my hypothesis stated that increases in enzyme concentration or buffer pH the substrate of the final product will yield increased substrate, also, if the substrate concentration is increased then the enzyme will be less diluted, the buffer pH will increase, or there will be a temperature increase. In Part C, my hypothesis stated that tacrine will have an inhibitory effect on AChE, and that those effects will increase as the level of concentration increases. In all three labs I postulated that increases in temperature and concentration levels and would increase the rates and decrease time to form chemical reactions. We setup each lab with a series of increased concentrations and a control trial using DiH2O. We observed the results using the following instruments: LabQuest and LabQuest App, a Spectrometer, an Oxygen Gas Sensor, LoggerPro software, and class data was...

Biol Lab Relationship Between Salivary Amylase & Phosphorylase

...effect that enzyme concentration has on reaction time and the effect that substrate concentration has on enzyme reaction. Enzymes are biological catalysts that catalyze different chemical reactions. In general, enzymes are proteins and they are each specific to specific chemical reaction. In order for enzymes to process properly, they should maintain a specific three dimensional structure. When enzymes function, they combine with their substrates (reactant) to form susbtrate-enzyme complex. Then this complex converts into a product and unaltered enzyme. Substrate + Enzyme  Substrate-Enzyme Complex  Product + Enzyme OR Substrate –Enzyme Product (From this equation, in general, the reaction of enzyme is irreversible.) Some of the factors that affect the rate of reaction are temperature, pH, enzyme concentration, substrate concentration, product concentration, etc. The rate of reaction is affected by the level of pH. The extreme level of pH can denature enzyme and result loss of its action. The optimum pH is 14 and this is the level of pH where the rate of reaction is the highest. Temperature also affects the rate of reaction. As temperature increases, the rate of reaction increases as well; however, it increases until the optimum temperature. After optimum temperature, the enzyme denatured. The concentration of enzyme and substrate affect the rate of reaction. In theory, the higher the concentration of substrate, the faster the reaction rate processes. This is because when...

Preparation of the Grignard Reagent and Benzoic Acid

...Experiment #36 and 36b Preparation of the Grignard Reagent and Benzoic Acid Purpose- In this experiment we learned to prepare a Grignard reagent, phenyl magnesium bromide, which we then converted to a carboxylic acid. Procedure & Observations- First we started by setting up our apparatus for Grignard reactions. We started by making sure all glassware was completely dried as a Grignard reaction would not occur if water is present. We used a 100ml round bottom flask for our solution and placed it on a hot plate to control the heating process. We then weighed out 0.4920g of magnesium turnings and placed it into the round bottom flask. We also measured out 2.1ml of bromobenzene into a 50ml flask and got a weight of 3.0557g. We then added 10ml of ether to the 2.1ml of bromobenzene and pipetted half into the round bottom flask. The other half was then added to the separatory funnel along with an additional 7ml of ether. From here we began heating the mixture until boiling started to occur. Once the reaction started to begin we got an instant brownish color change. We also ended up using a drop from another group’s reaction to help move along the process. Once this happened we began slowly adding the remaining bromobenzene over a five minute period. Once it had all been added we added an additional 1ml of ether to rinse the funnel. We then heated under gentle reflux till all the magnesium had dissolved. After this we allowed...
