In the book “Stop Pretending” by Sonya Sones a 13 year old girl named Cookie has to deal with the hardships that come with having her older sister be institutionalized. In this book Cookies maturity level rises and she goes through several realizations of self-identity and recognition of whom she really is and how strong her family is as a unit. Cookie changes several times during the book and her self-image seems to come together at the end of the novel.
