Introduction

In my life I have always wanted to do many things actually, I have many dreams and many goals to accomplish.

With the passage of time, the dreams we have always had and we forget that we can´t do it, we cease to trust us, we become realistic without ideals. We become a product, in a job , in figures , economy, belongings and forget the things that really one day want to get to get , which is why I always have in mind the aims and goals of my life because I feel that I can again believe , dream and create my future as I wish.

If you ask me about the things I want to do before I die, I have a clear response to that, besides wanting graduating, traveling, having professional and economic success, have a family etc. I have a special purpose in my life and this includes my mom. You ask why, and it's simple.

From my three years old, my mom has lived in Holland, across the world, working hard to give us all my brothers and me. And I want us to live together, I want you to return to Barranquilla and give everything she has given me, or at least try because it was a lot.

So my goal would be: Bring back my mom, give you peace, economic stability, health care and take it.

I've done to get it?

Having clear goals and get organized my to accomplish what I want.

What am I doing to get it?

Study, through my study I will get a professional degree and through this I know I can get a good job and start having a good income, and in this way begin to save and help my mom to have less expenses.

Hare in the future to get it?

Work hard; generate good income to save more and to fulfill what I have proposed.

I know this is a long term goal, but I know I 'm getting a lot of effort.

...Public Speaking: Fear at its Finest The day when I spot a big, black, hairy spider and refrain from screaming will most likely never come. But, the day when I am one hundred percent confident to give a public speech is somewhere in the near future. How do I know this? Through my public speaking course this semester, I completed an anxiety survey. Although I was already aware that I have a slight fear of public communication, this self-examination revealed to me my speaking apprehension score that was labeled with a specific level of anxiety. Not only, though, was I faced with a given intensity of anxiety, I was learning things about myself that I never thought I would obtain such an insight to. Moderate: the level at which my public speaking apprehension score happened to fall. I recognized right away that I wasn’t necessarily in the higher or lower range. This assisted me in looking at the glass as half full, which happens to be an obligation if I plan to eliminate this category of anxiety from my life. As I sat and thought about my score, it hit me that I over emphasized my partial fear of publicly speaking in front of large groups of people. What I thought was going to be the end of the world was really just normal amounts of tension, stress, and anxiety that I was way too easily letting get to me. Seeing these results brought to my attention strengths that can assist my in kicking public speaking anxiety: I radiate optimism, am smart and energetic, and I have confidence...

World Religions: the Pentecostal Faith

...Anonymous member that I have known for almost three years now. I chose this denomination because I have never known very much about the Pentecostal faith, aside from the more obvious characteristics, as manifested by the women of that faith in their dress and decorum. I was very pleased to have taken part in a magical conversation about the power of God’s Grace and the way it can transform the life of anyone, no matter how far down the scale they may have gone. Angela Harper and I finally were able to get together and have our conversation today, Thursday, October 17, 2013. I will give a little background on Angela as a person before I proceed, with her permission, of course. Angela, like me, is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. Another thing that we both have in common is that neither one of us was raised in the church. It wasn’t until Angela began her recovery journey that she had any reason to deliberately seek a relationship with God. What has happened as a result of that seeking is truly inspiring. Angela wanted me to preface my report on the Pentecostal faith by saying that she is not only new to recovery, but that she is also new to her faith and so there are many things that she doesn’t know. She was, however, more than willing to share with me the things that she has experienced and discovered as she has begun her walk for Jesus Christ. My very first question for Angela was what made this denomination so appealing to her, over all of the other denominations...

The Most Useful Class

...comes to public speaking, most people will tell you that they hate it and will never ever do it. Well if you ever want to become successful in your future, then it is a MUST that you take public speaking. It is a class that will benefit you for a life time and you will have NO regrets whatsoever taking public speaking. I myself learned a lot in public speaking. I took the class in high school, so I was kind of familiar and comfortable with it. But the high school class wasn’t as in depth as the college course is. I plan on joining the United States Marine Corps this fall. I know for a fact that public speaking will already put me ahead of all the other marines when I join. Most people think Public Speaking only applies to speaking in front of a large audience or a formal speaking type setting. But it doesn’t! Not only has this class helped me speak in front of large audiences, but it has also allowed me to become a better communicator as a person as well. And this is important in our everyday lives as humans. If you don’t learn how to properly communicate with another person then you won’t be very successful in life. This class is one of the key main ingredients when it comes to success in life. This class helped me build my speaking confidence as well. It will teach you principles and techniques that help you mentally when speaking in front of people. I have a buddy who wants to major in business for his college degree and he asked me if a public speaking class would benefit...

Anxiety in My Life

...Anxiety in My Life Webster’s Dictionary defines anxiety as “an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs (as sweating, tension, and increase pulse).” Webster’s definition of anxiety clear describes my life. Anxiety has been a big factor in my life for a long time; I can get anxious over the smallest things, sometimes for no reason at all. I suppose most people have something that makes them anxious in their lives. I wish that I just had one thing that made me anxious, that would seem easy. You see, there are so many things that cause me to be anxious that there is no way I could name them all, so I’ll just give a few examples. I have anxiety over animals, public speaking, health, my job, and my family and I have learned how to cope in these situations. Spiders, snakes and rats, make me anxious. When I see them, I get sweaty palms and feet, I shake and my heart pounds. I dream about spiders and snakes. In the dream they are always falling on me. I wake myself up from the dream when I scream. My heart will be racing like I have run a marathon, and I am usually in the middle of a panic attack. It takes me several minutes to calm down after one of these dreams. I usually have to search the bedding and the floor to assure myself that there are not any spiders or snakes in the room. Speaking in front of people is another source of anxiety. Speaking in public, or better yet, just the thought of speaking in public...

How to Be a Great Public Speaker

..."How to Be Great at Public Speaking and Get Paid for It" "I couldn't believe it when I got my first check." I'm writing this after getting back from a long bike ride. I have a really cool high-tech bike that I just love. Plus it gives me some exercise after I've been sitting too long in front of this computer. Do you know what really makes me mad? It's when I see someone who read a couple of books on presentation skills and then they call themselves a professional speaking coach. Yes, it's true that some of the best coaches, especially in sports, were not always the best players, but when it comes to learning speaking skills there is just no way you can train someone else unless you've been on stage quite a few times yourself. In fact, incompetent training has made fools of some big name speakers who bombed after taking the advice of some of the "book learned coaches." Most people that try to get into the speaking business lose money and disappear quickly. If you are one of the ones that do make money, congratulations, but there are many new ways to turn your knowledge into really big profits. $100,000.00 It's relatively easy to pull in $100,000.00 plus a year in the speaking business working from home (if you know exactly what to do and how to do it.) I'd like to help. You'll discover the most advanced and modern speaking tips, genius techniques (the audience will think you are one) and strategies used by top speakers around the world. Dual Enrollment English Class Analysis

...the final english class of my highschool career has for the last time, come and gone by. My education level has increased exponentially due to the rigorous course my teacher has designed for the students. Dual Enrollment English class taught me far more than just how to write a well written academic paper for my next four years in a college environment. Looking back on the second half of the semester, I can look back and appreciate all of the time spent preparing all of my essays, speeches, and notes for discussion. Throughout the semester, I definitely hit some speed bumps along the way; however, overcoming these dilemmas is what I will be able to carry with me throughout college. The class taught me how to be able to stand at the front of the classroom and speak about topics that I was less familiar with than familiar with, importance of priorities, how to write a well composed piece of literature in an academic format....

...think everyone should be accepted as whom they are but not everyone thinks that way. I have been doing nails, manicurist, for about ten years now, I have many wonderful clients who understand where I came from but then I do get some that think I do not understand a word of English because I am Asian working at a nail salon. Many clients come into the salon and automatically think none of us speak enough English to communicate with us. They think they need to speak louder or slower so we can understand what they are saying. I would get so offended when someone asks me if I spoke English. I would give them a glare and sometimes even pretend I do not speak English so I don’t have to interact with them. For some reason, many clients think we, as a Vietnamese culture, all work in a nail salon because it is our only job we can do without speaking English. I felt they were discriminating us for being Vietnamese. Discrimination as Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond implies, “Unfair or inappropriate treatment of people based on their group membership” (2010, p.91). They would get offended when we start speaking Vietnamese in front of them. Some would tell us it was very unprofessional of us to be speaking a different language when we are working on client. Then there are some who jokes around and tell us we are talking about them. I prefer the second situation. It’s probably the way they say it. When they make it as a joke, it sounds friendlier...

Unit 2 Assignment

...1. Define one change you would like to make to your self-perception (how you think about yourself). It might be a behavior, a self-fulfilling prophecy, or anything about yourself you would like to alter related to how you think about the person you are. I would like to be a more positive and confident person. I do strive for that; however I feel improvements can be made in this area. I tend to look at life in terms of Murphy’s Law, which states “Whatever can go wrong will go wrong.” So as a result I try to stay safe and protected in case certain negative things may happen. Also I like to say that I expect the best but am prepared for the worst to happen. Which makes sense, but it also tends to lean more towards negativity. I would like to be able to expect good things to happen and therefore I will hopefully make a more positive life a self-fulfilling prophecy. 2. Where did you place your statement so you could see it every day? What statement did you use? Clearly write the change you want to make. Use strong, affirmative language to motivate yourself, such as “I will start speaking up in class,” or “I will share my opinions in meetings.” The statement I decided to use is “Stay positive and walk boldly. Expect the best and make it happen.” I feel this summarizes what I need to do on an ongoing basis. I have placed this statement on a sticky note and have it on my computer at work where I will be able to see it every day. This should help to remind me that I am capable...

You cannot see any way possible to get out of the mess you are in.. Don’t cry, speak a word. Stop whining, complaining and crying about your situation and start speaking what you know. God told Moses to speak to the Israelites in 14:2 about where they were to encamp; in 14:15 He told Moses to speak to them again about moving. Everyone who is talking to you is not speaking into your life. The power of life and death lies in the tongue. ...Exercise 2 pg 33 .) Do you speak or write to each person in your life in the same way and about the same things? If not how do your approaches with these people differ? The different audiences I speak to in my everyday life would have to be my husband, my parents, my daughter and my friends, I do not speak to everyone in my life the same way or about the same things. I have different relationships with each person. Not everyone I speak to has the same interests. My approaches to these people differ in many ways. My relationship with my husband is a close intimate one, we discuss our relationship and bills/finances and he knows how to respond because he knows everything about those subjects but when it comes to my parents, my friends and my daughter, I wouldn’t speak with them about those things because their personal for one and they wouldn't know about them or be interested in them. When it comes to my daughter I talk to her about things she's interested in, barbies, cartoons, school, her friends. At the same time I'm teaching and guiding her through life and explaining to her why she should and shouldn’t do certain things and etc. My parents would love to know every detail about my life but I limit what I tell them except when it comes to my daughter.
