...A. INTRODUCTION 1. Background of the Research Why Filipinos Have a Hard Time Speaking English? In the Philippines, the English Language has been selling like an old flavor of ice-cream and has been served repeatedly to millions of students in all the schools for the past decades. Most of us actually have tried this 'ice cream' but not everyone had liked it. These schools though, exerted a conscious effort on how to smoothly deliver this subject matter to every student. Like ice-cream makers, public schools claim that they have already mastered this overwhelming 'ice-cream-making' process. While private schools brag that theirs is 'yummier', since they are now putting some 'cherries on top'. But after all, why still most of the Filipinos can't speak English better or they having a hard time on it? 2. Statement of the Problem Speaking in English is not our lingua franca (mother tongue). It means that English is not our first language. And we, Filipinos find it difficult to speak English during a certain speech in a formal gathering or those students who have this English Zone Policy in their respective school, colleges, and states/universities. There are lots of Filipinos who are not that good in speaking in English and are trying hard to express themselves in English. I recognize that learning to speak and write in English in this age of globalization is necessary especially if we would like to be able to compete in the knowledge-based world. Such training...

...or learning anything useful. However, these classes aren’t always the huge waste of time and money that many students think they are. One of my general requirements turned out to be the most rewarding class I’ve taken so far in college. That class was Public Speaking! This class didn’t have things a standard college class would have. I learned far more than I would have in a traditional class were we did a lot of reading, bookwork, and homework assignments. There were no big reading assignments! Nobody likes reading textbooks all the time. They aren’t fun to read, and I usually don’t learn well when I’m bored out of my mind. Public Speaking wasn’t taught out of a textbook, so there were no huge reading assignments for seventy-five percent of the class to blow off. Sure, there were a few small readings, but they were painless enough that students could just share each other’s textbook. Thanks to that many of us didn’t have to buy the textbook. I always showed up to class and actively paid attention. There was no confining schedule. Having a plan isn’t necessary a bad thing, but it can be hazardous when a professor’s guesswork is wrong and an entire class finds the pace of a class too slow or too fast. Public Speaking was not...

It would be a big pleasure for me if I will be selected and will attend it with my friends. First of all, I hope to be useful. I am really interested in session’s topic of dignity without borders(тема такая же?) . Also, in addition to previous words, I simply want to train my language skills in English with foreigners. The second point is that, I mostly aim to make new friends during the session and to feel, what a real EYP spirit is. I know that organizer have many be responsibles and I am sure my skills make me suited for the role of organizer. Frankly speaking, my skills are : 1 Always reliable. A team can count on me to get the job done, meet deadlines, keep my word and provide consistent quality work. 2. Adapt quickly and easily. I don’t passively sit on the sideline and see change happen; I adapt to changing situations and often drive positive change myself. 3. Communicate with confidence. I communicate my ideas honestly and clearly and respect the views and opinions of others on the team. I know my RESPONSIBILITIES MAY CONCERN THE ORGANISATION OF some special stuff, but I am ready for this, because it helps me to be more responsible and gets a priceless...

...In life we perform various actions of which before performing we do not think the consequences of; it is only after experiencing the effects of it that we are able to highlight the causes. People behave the way the way they do because of their past, their past experiences in life, how they were treated, and what events occurred in their life, what paths and methods they were influenced or forced to chose. All these can be causes for a person behaving or acting the way he does. Same is the case with me. I did not realize the actions I did were good or bad until I saw the side effects of them. The side effects were evident through the different events that occurred in my life later on. The realization came to me only after experiencing those events. The realization was a gradual process.(transition) Few months back I got admission in IBA, in the field of BBA. It is considered to be one of the top universities for bachelors in business administration in Pakistan. In the first couple of weeks everything sailed smoothly, and I thought I was on top of the world. But as the saying goes, everything that goes up must come down, and so I to had a downfall. As time passed on I noticed and felt something strange. Every day I used to have that same feeling. It was as if I was lacking in something, maybe it was that I could not fit with my mates, or not enjoying the university life. For about a weak I could not figure out what had went wrong, and what I should do. But the day finally arrived...

...A.J. Claudio English 312 May 6, 2012 Public Speaking Statement: Public speaking can be challenging when people are struggling to get their speech together. When on-stage speaking in front of a group of people may not seem so bad, unless you are unprepared to speak then it may become extremely nerve racking. Delivering a speech is easier for some than for others; however, it may be difficult for anyone who is ill prepared. Some ways you can be unprepared is by not spending your time writing your speech, getting all the facts straight and in order. This results in your work remaining incomplete. Also if you do not rehearse you are more likely to make a mistake or say something that doesn’t contribute to the subject of your speech. When all the facts are in order, the speaker is able to exude confidence when delivering his/her speech. A well written speech will also stick to the point and follow a certain order, whether it is time sequence or importance. When writing a speech, one must keep in mind who they are speaking to and what is the purpose of giving the speech. If you do not spend the time writing with a purpose, delivering the speech may become very difficult. So research your subject, find a purpose, and write with confidence. In class while watching my classmates delivers their speeches I was able to identify the people who were prepared and those who weren’t. The ones that were prepared had a very well executed presentation and they kept me involved. They...

...Abstract After looking at my presentation, I have done my self evaluation of myself and my speech. This is the report which reflects my personality throughout my presentation. A detailed analysis was done about how I feel, where I did mistakes and where I was strong. I have given presentations before but this is my first time that I watched my video and I have an opportunity to analyse myself which will helps me to improve in certain areas where I couldn’t perform well. I analysed myself depending on, how I felt while watching my video and few peers who had observed me while I was presenting by focussing on different aspects like speech delivery, outlook, gestures, voice control and attention towards audience. Also, peers opinion about me has helped me in evaluating myself to find my strengths and weaknesses in me and to improve in those respective areas which will prove me as an effective leader. Presentation Self Evaluation “Presentation”, which means presenting visually yourself or presenting a detailed analysis of some one’s life history in your own words in an acceptable manner by the audience. I presented the life history of an innovative leader who has revolutionised the entire electronic world and he is none other than Steve Jobs, who is well known as former CEO of Apple Company. I had a great opportunity to look at my presentation which enhances my knowledge how to be a good speaker and eventually to be a good leader. It is critical for a leader to have excellent...
