...movie A Time to Kill both final court speech is similar and different at the same time. Both speeches are excellent in their own ways to try and win the court case and here would be some reason why both final court speeches are similar and different. Something the speeches both have in common is that they relate to a rape case and try to prove a black person's innocent. In TKAM Atticus the lawyer of the defendant, Tom Robinson tries to prove that he did not rape Mayella Ewell and Tom is black. Like TKAM the movie ATTK there was a rape case involving two racist white men raping a black girl and the father is being held on a trail after killing the two men who assaulted her daughter. Although they sound the same the difference in being the context of the rape. In the book Tom a black man was accused for...

...Final Paper Today I will discuss my final peer critique of Aaron, as written and evaluated by me,. As I set and prepared for Aaron’s speech, I notice his dress and demeanor. He appeared well to do with his jacket and slacks. As I further examined him I couldn’t help but notice that he was wearing a pair of work boots. I took this as to be the way Aaron is and nothing else. For if you know Aaron, you know he has a casual attitude and always ready with a smile. Before the class started that day we talked about our speeches and if we could convince ourselves of the topics we had decided on. He seemed a little nervous about his topic because he did not fully agree or disagree with the appearance of tattoos. We talked about both pros and cons of this idea but could not agree on one side. He told me that he had chosen the topic and was going to do what he could to convince us, though you could tell he was nervous. As Aaron stepped up to do his speech, that’s when I noticed his nerves set in on him. He didn’t seem as if he could loosen up and I believe the main reason why was because he wasn’t too sure of his topic. I do believe if he was convinced about it himself, he would have delivered a much better speech. His speech was well organized and prepared and followed the main ideas of what a speech should be, yet he was allowing his nerves to make him loose eye contact. As his speech proceeded Aaron settled down enough to allow his words to flow better. Here is where...

...Traditional On Campus Class Welcome to the Traditional On Campus version of Speech 103 Oral Communication! I look forward to getting to know each of you. Over the years, I have learned that many of you dread taking this class (don’t worry I felt the same way when I had to take this class) but I hope that you will find your worries to be unfounded. I work very hard to try to create a comfortable learning environment, primarily because I need you to participate in order for this class to work. This is a participatory-based class where we will all work together to help each other improve our communication skills. Consequently, you will play an active role in your own learning as well as active role in the learning of the other students in this class. Research has shown that when you are an active participant in a class you increase how much you remember as well as how much you can recall after the semester has ended. However, I have found that when you are an active participant in my class you will look forward to coming to each class session and your fears of public speaking will soon decrease. Since this class is participatory, you will find that you will put a lot of thought and effort into this class. Much learning will occur both in class and out side of class. However, while this class is demanding, I hope that you will both enjoy this experience and learn a great deal about communication, how you communicate, and how to be a better...

...the gift of speech is the most miraculous. I believe that, if speech were to stop, all civilized living would suddenly vanish. I believe that the ability to articulate is essential to inner harmony, to emotional maturity, and to mental balance. If all people could be completely articulate at all times, human relations might improve to the point where there would be no more wars and no more jails, more stable homes and more happy people. I believe that speech is essential to the growth of the human personality and that it provides a way for self-discovery and self-renewal. For many, it is a way of self-expression without brush or pen. I believe that the act of speech is a total process, that when it reaches optimum effectiveness, the whole man communicates. What one is, is always part of what one says. I believe that there is no substitute for content in the speaking process. Material or intellectual worth provides the essence of eloquence. Speech skills have their importance, but they no more make speech than clothes make the man. The center of gravity in all speech communications is thought and idea. I believe that every student should develop a concern for truthful and responsible speech, exhibiting sense – not non-sense, sincerity – not cleverness, forthrightness – not superficiality, and should never be a party to plagiarized or dishonest work. I believe that speech has no absolutes, that a completely perfect speech has not yet been made. I believe that speech offers a...

...People in my group are easy to talk to and it wasn’t hard for us to choose the topic. We had several options but cultures around the world become our final topic because we all from different background and also talked about the specific food, places and shared why this culture values important to us. Since this is a public speaking class assignment, therefore, Jay and other classmates are our intended audience. This is another reason we why we choose our topic because we thought food and traveling around are the things our classmates will be interested. We used Panopto to record our speech as the assignment required. None of my group members used it before but Rohit (our tech guy) took the responsibility to doing all the technology integration besides his own speech part. I am glad that we have actually intended to imagine that what if someone fails to record his or her speech; therefore, we record our individual part separately and combine them together. Hence, even if someone made mistakes, she or he can do it again without ruin other’s speeches. I think we planned ahead well so we used our own time and delivered. It not only saved time but also with less pressure compare to record speech while people are watching you. This is completely different experience to complete group speech by using a mediated tool rather than presenting in the class. I think there are more strengths than challenges. Since we never used it before, so the attempt is already a succeed because there...
