It is important in the future for this author to practice more in spiritual talk in order to be able to discuss one’s spirituality comfortably by listening, and talking openly so as to understand the patient’s spiritual needs.
This interview acted like an awakening catalyst for both the interviewee and interviewer, and it was a great process that the priest and this author benefited upon the interview session. The priests showed some excitement and stated that this activity has brought some spiritual discovery. Spiritual Assessment

...Spiritual Needs Assessment Sherrie Gamble Grand Canyon University: HLT-310V February 7, 2015 Spiritual Needs Assessment This paper addresses an interview done with family member concerning their health related to their spiritual beliefs. An analysis of the interview and reflection on the interview results are also included. Use of the interview tool is evaluated for future use in doing spiritual assessments in order to provide holistic care for patients. The Interview The interview was done in the home of a 52 year old male of mixed Caucasian and Native American heritage. The tool used for this interview was based on the HOPE assessment tool (Anandaraja & Hight, 2001) along with a few questions from the Joint Commission website (2008). Because this writer has had a good relationship with the individual, questions and answers flowed fairly easily and readily, although some prompting was needed at times. The individual being interviewed was also feeling physically well on the day of the interview, which helped his mental and emotional focus. When body language indicated some distress in responses, the interviewer asked additional questions to more fully understand the body language in relation to the discussion. Although the interview went well, this writer determined that more time should have been allowed for the interview in order to gain further depth of the individuals spiritual beliefs and their impact on health. One barrier during this interview was...

Spiritual Assessment

...Analysis of a Spiritual Needs Assessment Sheila Hale Grand Canyon University Spirituality in Healthcare HLT-310V-0104 August 3, 2014 Analysis of a Spiritual Needs Assessment Spirituality is an important aspect of providing holistic care to patients. The word spiritual is derived from the Latin root, spiritus, which means breath or life. According to Bryson (2013), spirituality is an inherent predisposition toward the search for meaning or value in life. Spirituality may mean different things to different people. The Joint Commission, the governing body that provides accreditation to hospitals, requires a spiritual assessment to be performed as part of the overall assessment of patients. The goal is determine if a more comprehensive assessment is needed, and whether the patient’s spiritual view has the potential to affect health outcomes (The Joint Commission, 2005). It is well established that spirituality can have a positive effect on patient outcomes, such as providing coping abilities when faced with illness. “Studies generally support the hypothesis that spirituality is correlated with favorable health outcomes” (Anandarajah & Hight, 2001, p. 85). This paper will analyze a spiritual assessment performed and provide a summary of the assessment interview. Any significant discoveries about the individual, barriers, and/or challenges to the assessment will be discussed. It will also describe the experience and provide feedback on the use of the spiritual...

...World Music Genre Study NAME MUSIC INSTRUCTOR’S NAME DATE OF SUBMISSION INTRODUCTION This research paper is a specific study of one of the African dance musical genre-reggae, which was first developed in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The music of Jamaica includes Jamaican folk music and many other popular genres. Therefore, Jamaican popular music since 1960 can be roughly divided into four eras each of which had a distinctive beat – ska, rocksteady, reggae, and dancehall. (Chang and Chen W, 1998, x) But this African dance musical genre “reggae” has gained immense popularity since it was first introduced in the music world and since then it is one of the most popular genres of music. Hence, it is one of the most significant music genres in Western musical market. In my paper, the focus of the reggae music genre is from 1965 till 1975 as these were considered as the major years or a decade for reggae music when it flourished. This was the time period during which the culture of reggae music was civilized and spread widely in the parts of Jamaica. Bob Marley is known as one of the best artists of this genre and the impact he made and contributed has made beyond the shores of Jamaica and globally as well. Reggae was created by the Jamaicans and still it is the only music genre which is so much popular and not created by Europeans or Americans. It has gained immense popularity since its introduction and in the recent years as well that it is the first model in which a third...

Spiritual Gifts Paper

...Allan Ritch CHMN 201-D01 LUO March 31, 2014 Spiritual Gifts Paper PART ONE: What are your top two spiritual gifts? Do you agree with the results? Why or why not? My two dominate spiritual gifts as determined by taking the “Spiritual Gifts Analysis” on www.churchgrowth.org are (1) Administration and (2) Exhortation. I completely agree with this assessment. Having been in the administration field most of my adult life, in one capacity or another, I see that this gift has had an influence upon me. I am definitely a take-charge type of person when it comes to something that I am enthusiastic and passionate. The analyses pointed out that people with this gift tend to count on others to take care of the small details and are gifted delegator. I am definitely that type of person in most situations. I do not like to micro-manage others or be micro-managed. I tend to take on many tasks myself just so I can control the outcome and results. I tend to lack patience at times when a detailed explanation is required and expect that others already know how and what the goals are. The gift exhortation is a direct complement to administration. While administration directs and organizes, exhortation teaches, counsels, and encourages. I have not always seen this gift within my character, although as I look back I can see that this gift has been in the development stage for quite some time. The analysis advises against interrupting people and allowing pride to be the primary motivator...
