...bucks we got to look at then we decided to check out the spots that a few of us were hunting in the morning. When we drove to my friends field where his stand was he was disappointed because we didn't see a single deer. Then we turned around and headed toward the patch of woods where I was hunting. Thankfully we saw a lot of deer in the field beside the corn. As we drove back the lane we saw eyes in the spotlight. I gave the spotlight to my friend to hold it on the deer and a grabbed the spotting scope. I zoomed in and focused it on the deer. My jaw dropped as soon as I saw it. Its rack was huge. From what I could tell it had ten points and it was really thick with tall points. We got out of there quietly and quickly as to not to spook it for in the morning. I got all my stuff together and went to bed. I woke up in the morning, got ready as quickly as possible and headed out the door. When i got in my stand it was still pitch black out. As time went on you could see the sky getting lighter and the birds starting chirping. A little before i could shoot I saw a doe pass under my...

...Context: Right now, at this precise moment, Offred is fulfilling her duties of getting the groceries for the Commander’s household, but with an addition of having to go with another assigned handmaid, Ofglen. Long story short, because the handmaids can cause trouble to those in power, they are subjected to have “watchers”; watchers, whom are hidden as other handmaids. This constant intimidation spooks Offred into being extremely wary of Ofglen’s true intentions, so much as that she decides in the end, that she will play the part of being a “true believer”. This troll becomes the first of many, where they venture out to different food markets and catch the attention of desperate untouched men. Context: During one of the many walks Ofglen...

...state security. Who is the information, intelligence or the analysis of knowledge provided to? It goes to the government of the day, and it’s usually gathered, and given, in secret. To quote from the American secret service, the CIA or Central Intelligence Agency: "We are the eyes and ears of the nation and at times its hidden hand." Britain's security service, MI5, says it exists to protect national security, using techniques such as surveillance, or following people, and listening to their conversations. We most often hear about the activities of intelligence agencies when things go wrong, or their work crosses into the political arena. You'll hear talk of intelligence agents, secret service people, spies, or, very informally, spooks. You'll also hear intelligence used in other news stories, stories about human intelligence, or how clever we are; whether there's intelligent life on other planets, another reference to the ability of the brain; and artificial intelligence, which refers to the problem-solving abilities of computers. Now, I wonder if they know how to keep a secret. News Words bbclearningenglish.com © British Broadcasting Corporation 2010 Page 1 of 1...

...beneficial to all of the team. There is some sense of obligation to give the benefit of the doubt to those that you have a positive relationship with. Just as I would hope that if someone was suspicious or unsure what I was doing they would ask me first before assuming I was doing something wrong or unethical. This would be especially true for those that I have an established relationship with. I do have an obligation to my employer to let them know what I suspect but I wouldn’t point fingers at anyone specifically as it’s only a suspicion and there could very well be someone else doing it or more than one person. To be fair, they should look at everyone and not just focus on one person. If only one person is looked at, the employer might spook others or the real thief. When the stealing stops it could be for that reason and not that they identified the thief by blaming Nathan. The primary risk in not saying anything is that the employer could find on their own that Nathan is not recording all the cash sales and, knowing that the team splits the tips evenly, feel that all have stolen from them. Everyone could lose their job and possibly face prosecution for theft. I think most people would answer that they would tell the employer of their suspicions and allow them to take it from there. In...

...I had always had a desire to go to the Grand Canyon. My brother had always tried to spook me by saying that if you were to go to the canyons in the dead quiet of the night you can see ghosts or, as he calls them spirits, but I knew he was lying. One day my parents surprised me by saying that we were going to the Grand Canyon. I was so excited that I quickly packed my things and off on the highway my parents, brother, and I went. We crossed the border into Colorado. Most of the car ride was silent except for when my brother would, like usual, detest me. On the way to the Grand Canyon my brother was craving ice cream so we stopped and got some. My dad almost got him strawberry ice cream to mess around with him because we all know how much he loathes strawberries....

...mythological themes, the differences between mythology, religion, and belief, and whether or not I believe if mythology is relevant. The word myth is used popularly to explain or tell a story or legend that is not fully truthful. Portions of the story maybe true but other portions of the story are exaggerated or told in a way that the person understands. Tall tales, fairytales, or urban legends are examples of myths that help explain things to people or children especially in a way they can understand. The statement, “It’s a myth” means that the story is not true, there is little truth in the story, or an explanation of the unknown. For example, as a child many of us are told about the boogey man. He is a mythological creature created to spook or scare children into behaving or to stay away from dangerous places. The boogey man is a common mythological theme told across different cultures. Each culture has a name for the boogey man, such as the Chupacabra, the Lady in Black, Bloody Mary, the Man under the bed, or the most common of all the Devil. The myth of an allege boogey man was created to scare children or bring fear of the unknown. The myth of the boogey man explains to children that there are bad people or places in the world and to be cautious. Another common mythology theme is the existence of a higher power or being who created earth, the universe, and all things in it. Each culture has a religion and they are used to explain how things started or became of. If we do...

...What’s similar about the book and movie is that T.R. Wexler (Turtle Wexler) was the winner of the vast Westing fortune. Also at his “death”, Sandy gave Turtle a clue that helped her win the game. As well as that, Turtle did the same exact bet that led to the discovery of Sam Westings body. Even though there are a lot of similarities, there are still differences. The Westing Game also has lots of differences. Like how Grace calls Turtle the Other Child(book) instead of being nice(movie). Also Angela is the bomber(but Turtle takes the blame) in the book but in the movie, Sandy paid an unknown person to use a party popper to spook the heirs at Judge Ford’s party. As well as that, the movie puts Angela as someone engaged to Edgar Plum while in the book she is engaged to Denton Deere. This proves why The Westing Game book and movie are different from each other. The Westing Game has many similarities and differences that GLMS students have explored. A similarity is that Turtle Wexler was the one to find Sam Westings forth identity. They are also different because Angela’s only role in the movie is engaged while in the book she was the bomber. After reading and watching The Westing Game, many people might like the book more than the...

...The Japanese economy unexpectedly shrank last quarter as a hike in the sales tax in Q2 continued to weigh on economic activity. As we have stated on numerous occasions, the lack of activity at the ground level in Japan and the failure of a weakening yen to significantly boost exports is killing economic activity. The yen initially weakened on the back of Japan’s all-important GDP figures as the Nikkei rallied, before Japanese equities began to fall and the yen reversed its course. The numbers were so bad as to spook the market sufficiently to result in the aforementioned sell-off in equities. GDP fell a seasonally adjusted 0.5% q/q and an annualised 1.6% q/q in Q3, missing expected increases of 0.5% and 2.2% respectively. The numbers show that the hike of the VAT in April is having a far more detrimental impact on the economy that initially expected, thus it should be enough evidence to persuade Tokyo to delay increasing the sales tax for a second time. Last week we postulated that Prime Minister Abe may officially push back an expected hike in the VAT by 18 months if today’s data was significantly worse than expected. This was supported by rumours from the Japanese media and some cryptic comments from law makers. After today’s very disappointing numbers, we are almost certain that Abe will announce in the coming days that the planned October increase in the VAT will be postponed by at least six months. The market reaction The initial sell-off in the yen is a likely reaction...

...8 Ways To Prevent Financial Snooping Edward Snowden made waves internationally with his revelations about the electronic snooping the U.S. government does into personal communications. But government spooks aren’t the only people who may be trying to peer over your shoulder digitally. The growth of electronic banking has spurred growth in the number and sophistication of criminals using computers to pry into the private accounts of people and businesses. Getting taken by one of these criminals may not be as traumatic as an on-street mugging, but it can be every bit as costly. Here are some things you can do to protect your accounts from criminal snooping: 1. Cover the keypad. Behind you at the ATM or in line at the supermarket checkout, there may be someone waiting to casually observe your PIN for future use. Don’t even bother looking behind you — whatever the situation, get in the habit of using your free hand to screen the keypad as you type in your PIN. 2. Take a good look at that gas pump. Thieves are increasingly using credit card skimmers — devices that look like card readers, but that secretly transmit your credit card information to their operators. If the card reader at a gas pump seems loose-fitting, sticks out more than usual, or doesn’t quite match the surrounding equipment, notify a station employee — and don’t insert your card! 3. Don’t use public networks to view sensitive financial information. Online savings accounts and checking accounts may be increasingly...
