Springfield College, my alma mater, impressed the age-old Greek ideology that a balanced individual must equilibrate “Spirit, Mind, and Body”. Throughout the campus, triangles could be found representing these three components. This introduction to the Humanics philosophy came years before I decided to pursue an education in Osteopathic medicine. While working as a paramedic, I have applied this same ideology when treating patients. I learned that by treating patients requires consideration of not only the body systems but more importantly attitudes and emotions.

The first introduction I had to osteopathic medicine came in 2012 after learning a coworker had been accepted into a DO medical school. Unfamiliar to a DO education, he shared the
