...Sprint-Resisted Training Rashad Jefferies FIT 125-G2 Sprint-Resisted Training Training within sports is a vital part of becoming a world class athlete. Without the proper training, workouts, diet and willingness to put the time and work in, becoming a world class athlete is not likely to happen in your future. We have grown up in our lives and have had visions and dreams of becoming our favorite player. There were times when we as children would try to emulate popular sports figures Michael Jordan, Carl Lewis, Barry Sanders, the late Walter Payton and Wayne Gretzky. These sports figures that I mentioned have been named as greats in their perspective sport and they did not get there by just talent alone. As I was growing up playing football, I wanted to be just like Walter Payton. The moves that he would perform on the football field week in and week out were amazing to my eyes and wanted to be just like him. Walter Payton had the total package; he had the moves, the strength and the speed to make defenders miss or he was able to just run right through a defender or outrun anyone trying to chase him down. He was just pure poetry on the football field. I was a good sized young football player up until the age of 13 when I stopped growing. I had the strength, because of doing push-ups and lifting weights, while my moves were also great because I practiced them every week. The only problem that I had left was becoming a faster back...

... cameras, mp3 players and personal computers. Cell phones have served as a security tool for parents who want to keep an electronic eye on their children while still keeping their distance. They can be your GPS when you are lost in the middle of nowhere. They can be your best friend in an emergency or if you find yourself in any other tight spot. I once had a classmate who told me that he had a paper due in less than 45 minutes and he wrote and submitted it on his Blackberry. For these reasons and many more, the cell phone industry has exploded in the last quarter century and some of the major service providers have made profit hand over fist. This narrative is meant to give the reader an insight into Sprint; one of the top three service providers here in the U.S. The Sprint company began in the late 1800's as the Brown Telephone Company based out of Abilene, Kansas. Started by visionary Cleyson Brown, the Brown Telephone company was originally meant to challenge the local power, Bell Telephone Company. Bell, which owned all important patents related to the telephone, enjoyed a monopoly on local telephone service. But in small towns like Abilene, Bell service was expensive and often viewed by the public as big business. In addition, Bell's patents were about...

...Sprint Performance Management System Douglas Tennyson Excelsior College Abstract Every company needs to have a performance management system in place to build employees into what the company desires from them, to help them retain the best employees and to assist with active communication. Sprint seems to have a performance management system today that is much better than it was previously and this paper will explore the current performance management system and compare it to the old one and also make recommendations as to what Sprint can do to improve their current system. Sprint is a telecommunications company that specializes in mobile devices and mobile service. They currently hold fourth place in the mobile provider market being overtaken by T-mobile in 2015 according to a report on RCwireless.com with Verizon and AT&T maintaining a firm grip at the top of the market share. "The report found that "no major shifts in market share among the major four carriers" between now and 2020" (Kinney, S. (2015). One of Sprint's bigger problems was their employee turnover rate; they were losing employees faster than they were getting new ones. This would be a problem for any company, but especially for a company that is in the cutthroat business of cell phones and service. Trying to grow and take more of the market when you can't keep the trained employees created a problem for Sprint and they knew they needed to address this. "In July 2002, Towers Perrin released a...

In interviewing Dialietta Bishop, mother, she made it evident that over the years, she has been a loyal Sprint customer and this preference has trickled down through the family. ...Case Study Two: Southwest Airlines & Sprint Telecommunications DeVry University: BUSN258 November 30, 2011 Southwest Airlines & Sprint Telecommunications There are many factors that contribute to the success of a company and customer service is one of the more important elements that determine this. A company’s customer service reputation is not built nor fixed overnight; yet it can be a company’s greatest attribute, or attribute greatly to its downfall. Southwest Airlines is known for its world class customer service; this is just the opposite of Sprint Telecommunications which is often noted for its lack of customer service. While exploring the customer service reputation of these two different companies we will discover the vital role and impact of customer service as pertains to the success of these companies. “Southwest Airlines Co. is a low-fare domestic airline that provides primarily short haul, high-frequency airline services. Southwest is one of the largest carriers in the U.S. based on number of domestic passengers. The firm operates 547 Boeing 737 planes, serving 72 cities in 37 states throughout the U.S. The firm operates over 3,100 flights daily (Plunkett 2011).” For those of us who are unfamiliar with Southwest Airlines customer service practices look no further than the company’s philosophy and mission statement. “The Southwest Airlines philosophy serves as the vision and mission for the organization. Certain quality management principles are embodied...

...Sprint Nextel, a service provider of mobile voice, data and web services over a nationwide wireless network. It also provides long-distance voice, internet and data over a landline based network. Their wireless segment also sells accessories, such as carrying cases, hands-free devices, batteries and battery chargers, as well as the handsets and accessories to use their service to agents and other third-party distributors for resale. Consumers use several of these products along with their service they provide to communicate through mobile (cell) phones, laptops, personal computers, video game consoles, televisions and DVD players loaded with apps, Global Positioning Systems, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), etc…, the list has far too many uses to name the all. Consumer demand is greatly affected by price, service availability and reliability and the technology offered in their products, both theirs and that of their competitors. Other factors are laws that restrict usage, regulations set by governing bodies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and terms/lengths of contracts. Supply is affected by costs of materials, wages, production equipment and other input expenses, technology advances, taxes, regulations on uses both nationally and internationally and the availability of substitutes. Substitutes include other wireless service providers, landline service providers, letter mail, and meeting in person. Basically any other form of communicating without the...

...running to say I face The early morning preparations for the events That each race day holds ‘Tis a situation I do not wish to face To run, to race- To fall perhaps too hard. Ay there’s the problem, For in running what events may come about When we are hiding from the finish line Must make us stop and think. That’s the idea That makes disaster of running For who really wants to face the 7 a.m. sun The first start, The runners’ obnoxious cheeriness, The disappointment in Gatorade, The team’s early practices, The overly chipper song of the early bird, And the cold looks That other runners send in my direction When they too may run On weekends free from tribulations? What would heed the team’s early call To sprint and jog through the first hours of the day But that the horror of something may be missed while running That unknown events that have occurred which The gossips discuss While we stand in a confused daze Wishing we had chosen a different sport Instead of seeking those futile adrenaline rushes? Thus the chance of missing out does make runners of us all And thus the bliss of running Is tainted by eye opening thoughts of lost news And peaceful moments of calmness and scenery With this regard their paths are cut short And lose the race in favor of the faster...

...Me and Fiona decided to go to the movies since we were both free that night. As we walk in, it was so unusual. It had nobody at the front counter and it seemed as if me and Fiona were alone. As i’m walking in everyone jumps out and yells “SURPRISE!” My parents, the track team, and Kyro were all there. My parents were crying as Kyro was walking up to me with a rectangular box. I open the box and it was the running leg. My first impression was this was the wrong leg and I wanted flames on it so that when i’m running it will look cool. It was blue with a strange yellow pattern that had everyone's signature on it. The next day I was just getting used to it. I go to the track that day to get practice in with my track team. Kyro has me take small steps at a time and a slow jog and as i’m jogging I keep gaining speed and I get so happy to know that i’m running. The next morning I got up early and took a long run over Aggery Bridge. I felt bad that i’m able to run again getting back into something I love and Rosa has helped me so much and wasn’t even at my suprise party. So the next morning I get into a wheelchair and do my morning “run”. I put a pot of flowers on me to make it heavier. It was so much hard than I expected. As I was struggling getting over the bridge I hear a voice yell out my name. It was Gavin. We started talking a lot and I found out him and his girlfriend broke up. I told him what I was doing with the wheelchair. Before I knew it, Gavin kissed me. It’s all I had wanted...

...WHAT I ALREADY KNOW, ASSUME, OR IMAGINE I chose to run the Donor’s Dash 5k distance race because I enjoy running and doing anything physical, so naturally I couldn’t pass up this anchor project. Most distance races usually fundraise to help certain causes, such as breast cancer, and help raise awareness about those causes, too. I love getting involved in events or groups that help benefit not only myself but others as well, which is a win-win situation. I expect to have difficulty running in the race since it’s been quite awhile since I’ve actually participated in anything physical, though I am excited to be completing this anchor project. THE SEARCH In order to find a race, I went on a website that gives details and allows you sign up for many different types of races in any city. I browsed through the different categories they listed, until I reached the 5k category. I scrolled through the different ones and decided to go with the Donor’s Dash which interested me the most, since I want to be able to donate blood or an organ to someone who needs it. I then registered for I and was set. THE DISCOVERY Distance races are great for getting exercise, but even better when they help raise awareness for certain causes.. They not only benefit individuals participating, but also the certain groups that receive a portion of the money. As for me, I decided to run in the Donor’s Dash 5k race. The two most important things in distance races; knowing where the money goes and actually doing...

...It is a common myth across the globe that too much running is bad for the human body. But is this true? Is there a specific amount of mileage that is the best? By knowing how much running is good for one’s health and how it actually benefits the body, could this help people live longer and keep them healthier? Some believe that too much running is actually bad for the body and has different effects than intended. Still others state that running, no matter the amount, is good for you. However, there is only one right answer. As a result of running too much, the intended good effects could cease to exist; because of this, it is imperative to find a “middle-ground” while running. With this in mind, too much running has been proven to be bad for the human body. A study done by a researcher, Robert S. Schwartz, at the Minneapolis Heart Institute and Foundation has proven that marathoners actually had more coronary plaque buildup, which causes heart attacks, than people who ran 20-30 miles a week. “It’s really impressive, among the healthiest things you can do to improve longevity and overall vigor and well being... but the striking thing is runners who do more than four to five miles a day seem to lose the benefits of that. While they don’t have a higher mortality risk than sedentary people, it’s about the same” (Hilmantel 11). The article goes on to clarify this and says that “our bodies produce free radicals during strenuous exercise - and that we may only be able to effectively...

...Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Rationale Millions of athletes, runners and sports club are looking for an activity for their daily health awareness through foot race, jogging and marathon each day. At the same time, people are more conscious now for their body figure which really help them a lot to develop it well. Running is a means of terrestrial locomotion allowing humans and other animals to move rapidly on foot. It is thought that human running evolved at least four and a half million years ago out of the ability of the ape-like Australopithecus, an early ancestor of humans, to walk upright on two legs. Early studies on endurance running used X-ray and interview techniques to evaluate competitors and comment on performance. Since then, comparatively few studies have looked at runners competing in distances longer than a marathon. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of footrace in Cebu for long-distance running in order to develop a theoretical model for the marketability of foot race in the City. This pioneering study will assess also to the impact of extreme endurance on human physiology and the body's potential ability and willingness to in gage in this type of activity. The results will be of interest not only to endurance runners, but to anyone interested in the limits of human performance. Running competitions have probably existed for most of humanity's history and were a key part of the ancient Olympic Games as well as the modern Olympics. Although running is...

A point is scored for each 20-meter distance covered. The test is easier in the beginning but progressively gets more difficult. In comparison to distance running, the PACER is a more effective, fun, and easy way to measure aerobic capacity that encourages participation from all youth and is relatively easy to score and administration er.
