...Executive Summary The last few decades witnessed the rise of Asia as a major global player. Asia’s share of the global output nearly doubled during the last 40 years. This clearly highlights the enormous growth potential and future opportunities in Asia. The great transformation of Asian economies is evident in three main areas. First the sustained huge investments in infrastructure, industry and human resource. Secondly, the increasing complexity of these economies and their integration with the rest of the world. And finally the rising middle class with higher incomes and huge demands for a wide range of products and services. The opportunities for foreign firms include supporting Asian investments and connecting with Asia and meeting the increasing consumer demand. Foreign firms can capitalize these opportunities by adding value to natural resources, developing networking industries and tourism and by developing-delivering better services. ...The purpose of the SSD method is to identify the effectiveness of an intervention or interventions used by a social worker by documenting changes in a behavior during the time that services are provided. “The use of SSR should enhance the quality of services and help to build the social work knowledge base” (Krysik & Finn, 2010, p.103). The SSD method allows a social worker to determine if an intervention is effective for a particular subject once the intervention is implemented. There are four phases in the SSD method, which include assessment, baseline phase, intervention phase, and follow-up phase. The overall purpose of the SSD method is to answer the question, “Did change occur in this instance?” (Krysik & Finn, 2010, p.84). The validity of the SSD method is strong. The validity is established by controlling the dependent variable by manipulating the independent...

...Chapter 2. Information Systems: Concepts and Management - Chapter Exercises Implementing Strategy with IT For the first week of your internship, you got to know Lisa and Reuben, the owner/managers of Club IT, and learning some of the back office operations. You’ve become familiar with the Club IT website, and you want to help Lisa and Reuben see how they can achieve their primary strategic objective - “to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT.” After reading Chapter 2, you have seen many real business cases where IT has helped organizations achieve strategic objectives. The real estate industry has seen a major transformation with electronic communications and the web, the airlines are continuing to innovate, and even your course registration process is getting easier with online options. While Club IT doesn’t have the IT resources of Kmart or Sears, it is much more agile and should be able to take advantage of it’s information base to help build a community with the support of IT. 1. Many organizations now have a members’ website, where customers can keep track of different kinds of information related to the organization. Many have “wish lists” where you can keep track of items related to that business – eBay is a good example. Visit a site that allows users to keep a “my favorites” type of list (eBay, Amazon, Dell, Old Navy are examples) and prepare a paragraph discussing the kinds of competitive information the organization can gain by providing...

...determine the Apparent, Bulk (Dry), Bulk (SSD) specific gravity and the absorption in percentage of the coarse and fine aggregate sample II. PROCEDURE WITH PICTURES COARSE AGGREGATES 1. Approximately five kilograms of the coarse aggregate sample was taken by method of quartering. The 5 kg coarse aggregate sample was sieved by the 3/8” sieve and the materials passing through were discarded. (Figure 1) 2. The sample coarse aggregate was washed thoroughly with water to remove dust and other materials coating the individual aggregate and the sample was soaked under water for 24 hours. (Figure 2) 3. The soaked aggregates were removed and each aggregate was wiped to saturated surface dry (SSD) condition. (Figure 3) 4. The SSD weight in air (B) of aggregate to the nearest 0.1 gram was obtained. This was done quickly to prevent evaporation. 5. The weight of the wire mesh basket was determined. The coarse aggregate sample was placed in the wire mesh basket and its weight in water (C) was determined. The weight of the wire mesh basket in water was subtracted. (Figure 4) 6. The wet aggregate was placed inside the oven at a temperature not exceeding 110°C and the constant oven dry weight (A) was determined. (Figure 5) 7. From the data obtained, the specific gravity and absorption as defined below were solved: a) Apparent Specific Gravity = AA-C b) Bulk Specific Gravity (Dry) = AB-C c) Bulk Specific Gravity (SSD) = BB-C d) Absorption = B-AA*100 Figure...

...Solid State Hard Drive Solid state hard drives known as SSD have been around for over 30 years. They haven’t been commonly used by manufactures, until recently when they have been recreated and used in portable devices such as Ipad and iPhones. This has to do with the expense of the SSD’s. Prior to the SSD manufactures have been using the Hard Disk Drive (HDD), which is designed completely different. HDD,s use a rotating disk which is accessed by a mechanical actuator, which SSD’s use nonvolatile memory. This makes for less moving parts and makes the SSD less fragile. SSD’s are used in smart phones and digital cameras. We know them as secure digital cards (SD cards) and flash drives; these are less complex versions of the SSD. The difference of a SSD and the version that is used in our mobile devices is the performance requirements. The memory needed for a digital camera is less demanding than what a multi core possessor laptop or a data server would need. More complex versions of the drives are made up of 3 blocks storage media, a controller for managing the media, and a host interface for accessing the media. When is come to comparing the SSD and HDD, they both are made to boot up our systems store applications, and our personal files. Booting up a SSD it will boot in seconds while a HDD takes longer because it has to spin up the disk to operating speed. HDD’s are also slow when it comes to accessing your files because it has to spin and practically find the file that you...

Nt1310 Unit 1 Assignment

...Assignment : SADIA RIFAT SSD: SSD is known as solid state drive, it is a data storage device which has an integrated circuit as memory to store data constantly, although it does not contain an actual disk or a motor to spin a disk. The technology of SSD uses electronic interfaces compatible with hard disk drives this permits simple replacements in very easy applications. Now new interfaces have been invented to cater to certain requirements of the SSD technology.SSD does not comprise of any movable components, this feature of the SSD differentiates it from the electromechanical magnetic disk such as hard disk drive or floppy disks which have spinning disks and movable read/write heads. When compared to electro mechanical disks, SSDs are very resistant to physical shock, run very silently, have very low access time and have less latency. Even though the price of SSDs has decreased in previous years but the good consumer grade SSDs are still found to be more expensive than consumer grade HDDs. Most of the SSDs in the year 2014 were made using NAND-based flash memory which keeps data in it without power. SSDs can be made from (RAM) random-access memory for that application which requires fast access but not...

...changes in Hong Kong? Is this special stamp duty fair to foreign companies and non-permanent Hong Kong residents? Stamp duties from the tax history theoretical point of view, the development of any kind of tax are related to the prevailing political and economic. In Hong Kong, Special Stamp Duty (SSD) is the government on November 20, 2010 for the pressure to curb the property market overheating additional increase in tax rate and the applicable period. Any individuals or companies in Hong Kong after November 27, 2010 that are bought the property and sold their property within 24 months (if the property is in the November 20, 2010 to October 2012, 26 disposal (including resale) or 36 months (such as property obtained on or after October 27, 2012 or transfer) of the property are needed to pay the special stamp duty. According to the Hong Kong information service department official website, the SSD calculation methods have changed on October 27, 2012. If the property has been held for six months or less the tax rate from 15% increased to 20%.The Hong Kong government want to solve the price of property raises rapidly in this few years, so they try to adjust the SSD tax rate from 15% increased to 20% in order to adjust the balance in the market recently. Also, with the announcement by the United States Federal Reserve on the launching of the second round of "quantitative easing" policy, amounting to US$600 billion on November 3, 2010, more funds are expected to flow...

Somatic Symptom Disorder

...cause” and they are “not the result of substance abuse of another mental illness” (WebMD). The Criteria & Associated Behaviors In DSM-IV, somatization disorder was the major somatoform disorder. There were many criteria for this disorder. However, in DSM-V, somatoform disorders were largely replaced by the term somatic symptom disorder, hereon referred to as SSD, which DSM-V characterizes by “somatic symptoms that are either very distressing or result in significant disruption of functioning, as well as excessive and disproportionate thoughts, feelings and behaviors regarding those symptoms. With this new change in DSM-V, somatization disorder (previously in DSM-IV) is now completely removed and replaced. The previous diagnosis of somatization disorder required very specific criteria. However, the new criteria for SSD is not as specific, but it does state that “somatic symptoms must be significantly distressing or disruptive to daily live and must be accompanied by excessive thoughts, feelings, or behaviors” (DSM). To see brief comparison, see Appendix A. As briefly mentioned, the basic behaviors associated with SSD include feeling pain or other somatic symptoms that are extremely distressing. It was previously stated in DSM-IV that there should be no medical reasoning for these symptoms. However, with the new revision in DSM-V, there is no need for the symptoms to be medically unexplained. In other words, DSM...
