Saint Augustine once said, “For we have our existence from God, and it is from him that we deserve punishment for doing wrong and reward for doing good.” This quote draws up two philosophical propositions, which was taken from Book two of Augustine, “On Free Choice of the Will”. St. Augustine was a Christian theologian and philosopher and was the bishop of Hippo Regius, which was in Numidia; providence in Africa ruled by the Romans. He is seen as arguably the most important Western Christianity Church Father due to his influential texts in the Patristic Era. One could agree with St. Augustine’s philosophical proposition and one could disagree with his philosophical proposition.
One could agree with St. Augustine’s philosophy “For we have out existence from God, and it is from him that we deserve punishment for doing wrong and reward for doing good” by analyzing biblical texts and having strong Christian beliefs. This claim can be interpreted that in the end of one’s life God will judge them at the gates of Heaven. Those who have lived a life full of good deeds will be rewarded; while those who have lived a life full of sin and wrongdoing will be reprimanded. When St. Augustine refers to those who will be punished for living a bad life one could interpret it that he asserts that person will receive his punishment in hell. Hell is a place of torment and punishment in an afterlife for people who have committed serious sins for which God will not allow them through the golden gates of Heaven. Heaven is a common religious place where people who lived a righteous life can spend their afterlife and rejoice with deceased friends and family. There are many different religions that assert the existence of these places. Some sins are so evil that a punishment on Earth is not worth enough, if one is sentenced to death on Earth they should continue to be reprimanded for their

Not to bring back any bad memories of the past, but the thought of what actions have to be completed to ensure that this particular time by this road on a summer day is not going to be that day. Just a typical afternoon working at the new salon and the owner comes and says “Can you two guys go put up this sign up by the road?” Let us take an imaginary trip through your head of the first three hours after the accident takes place from putting up the sign, to the accident when the life of a friend flashes through your head and finally finding out that the friend is going to recover completely after some time in the hospital. The afternoon was just as any ordinary afternoon of work that gets a new hair salon business up and running. It began with getting supplies together to go clean the marquee before putting the new sign up so that everyone would know that the hair salon that used to be beside Wal-Mart in our town had not gone out of business, just a change of location. Once the supplies were gathered, we headed to the marquee...

Marks and Spencer are a company which have done outstanding and their figures have shown that their plan A has been successful. Procedure I completed research online to find financial statistics of Marks and Spencer, this information was found on the internet in the annual report of Marks and Spencer. I viewed the statistics to analyse the findings such as group revenue, profit before tax and final dividend. Findings This data shows that group revenue, group operating profit, profit before tax, earnings per share and final dividend. Group revenue shows that it has rose by 2.0% in 7 moths which is a great achievement and also it’s 9.9 billion, which is a lot for 7 months. Also this year financial highlights have been amazing the group revenue at the end of 53 weeks the percentage went up by 4.2%. Due to the really good results from group revenue the group profit before tax meant down by 15.7% which means they didn’t get much of profit in those few months. As you can see that the underlying earnings per share is 34.9p, it also has upgraded 0.3% which means that they have improved quite greatly. It makes sense to say that the final divined came up to 17.0p in 52 weeks which is a good achievement bearing in mind that they didn’t make much profit before tax and when down by 1.2%. ...

...Evaluate the extent to which Marks and Spencer has benefited from its marketing planning Marks & Spencer’s are a company that have been that suffered a bad year in 2003/04 as they suffered a 10% fall in sales of their clothing. Their additional priority was to kick-start the autograph range in which they received good reviews but unfortunately they were too expensive being mostly over £100. With regards to their products, products of Marks and Spencer are designed according to the demands, needs and preferences of customers. Evaluate the Success of a Range of Projects Designed to Rebrand a Named Rural Area (10 Marks)

...Name: Cornwall According the Andrew Mitchell, Cornwall remains one of Europe’s most deprived areas. This is despite the 4 million tourists who visit Cornwall every year. There are two main reasons as to why Cornwall is need of rebranding and they are; deprivation caused by low wages and decline in the rural (primary) economy. There have been many schemes put in place to try and alleviate the crisis in Cornwall. In 2001, a flagship scheme known as the Eden Project opened to visitors. What was once a quarried area used for the collection of China clay, has now been transformed into a conservation site where 3 biomes are home to 1000 plants representing 5000 species. Just by building the Eden Project at the bottom of the quarry has been successful in reimaging the area of Cornwall, which is important because Cornwall has the highest percentage of derelict land in the UK. Success of scheme has been seen through number of visitors and the improvement of employment opportunities for the local people. Within 6 months of its opening the Eden Project was the UK’s third most visited attraction. In addition, the first year saw a 1.9 million visitor count – considerably higher than the estimated 750,000 before it opened. This has also seen an increase in the amount money being spent in the surrounding area as it has been estimated that an average visitor to the Eden Project will spend around £150 in the Cornwall area. This has generated a multiplier effect where those coming over long...

Seasons of Change

...Seasons of Change Poetry uses many elements to convey meaning and theme in an often times consolidated form. The use of such elements, such as form, imagery, and symbolism, enable the author to evoke specific feelings and thoughts in the reader. Gerard Manley Hopkins uses elements like alliteration and diction to juxtapose life and death in his poem “Spring and Fall.” The poem compares a young girl’s sadness over the changing of seasons to humans’ sadness regarding their own mortality. This inevitable fate causes a loss of innocence even before she is able to describe it with words or emotions. Hopkins alludes to the idea of the contrast of life and death from the very beginning of the poem by choosing contrasting words “spring” and “fall” for the title. Many times when speaking about the seasons, authors will use the term autumn rather than fall. This intentional decision by the author clues readers in on the theme and draws parallels to comparisons of youth versus age and innocence versus experience. Spring, often representative of youth, innocence and renewal, is depicted by young Margaret and her “fresh thoughts” (4). The speaker suggests that autumn is comparable to old age and death with the term “Fall.” The use of the word fall also calls to mind the “fall from grace” of man from the Bible. Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, causing all men to be subjected to a mortal life with sin. This idea speaks to the theme of mortality and...
