It was Thursday, September 25 at 8 P.M. when the St. Lawrence String Quartet came on the stage and blew my mind. The St. Lawrence String Quartet performed an ensemble of classics from Haydn, Verdi and Dvořák at the Twenty-third Annual Souren L. Chamichian Endowment Concert. The ensemble was triumphantly dramatic and emotionally rich with graceful phrasing, smooth transition and beautiful sound. The Staples Family Concert Hall was ecstatic as the St. Lawrence String Quartet showed their passion for the music. The concentrated silence showed me that the crowd was eager to hear the ensemble. The St. Lawrence String Quartet did not disappoint, resulting in a standing ovation that was much deserved. The St. Lawrence String Quartet performed 3 pieces during the concert. 76, String Quartet in E minor, Op. 68, and String Quartet in C major, Op. 61, were 3 energetic pieces that allowed the audience to experience various sounds. The piece I enjoyed the most was the Quartet in E-minor, Op 68, which was written by Giuseppe Verdi. This peace was so enjoyable because of its range of emotions. The piece was beautifully structured and the violinist sharp movements showed the passion they had for their craft. The energy was so high when the piece reached its fugal finale that was very powerful. As I took another listen on YouTube I noticed that Verdi’s piece has a very strong delivery. I feel as if the music tells a story with the expressiveness of the melodies. Another piece that struck me was the Quartet in C-major, Op. 76 No. 3 also known as emperor. Joseph Haydn wrote this piece. The reason this piece was so attractive is because it set the tone for the rest of the concert. The famous melody has slow movement so the crowd silently

...Michael Jackson English Michael Joseph Jackson[1][2] (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer-songwriter, dancer, businessman and philanthropist. Often referred to by the honorific nickname "King of Pop", or by his initials MJ,[3] Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. His contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. The eighth child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971. In the early 1980s, Jackson became the dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including those of "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and "Thriller," were credited with breaking down racial barriers and transforming the medium into an art form and promotional tool. The popularity of these videos helped to bring the then relatively new television channel MTV to fame. With videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" he continued to innovate the medium throughout the 1990s, as well as forging a reputation as a touring solo artist. Through stage and video performances, Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot, and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. His distinctive sound and style has influenced numerous hip hop, post-disco, contemporary R&B, pop,...

None were less important than Aaron Douglas, Jacob Lawrence, Dox Trash, and the creators of the Harlem Hospital murals. Throughout the decade, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Peoples (NAACP) continued its struggles to gain social and political equality for African Americans. The NAACP employed many avenues to achieve its goals. An Art Commentary on Lynching and the Marian Anderson concert were two such...

Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboardand violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, he was engaged as a court musician in Salzburg, but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position, always composing abundantly. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death. The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons.
