Module 1: Identifying Global Business Opportunities:
Potential Market:
In today’s business environment, there are several global business opportunities which exist. Due to technology and other related issues, the gap which existed years prior and which kept the world somewhat segregated, has now been lifted and the world is much more connected. When it comes to the topic of bringing Starbuck’s to India, it is safe to say that India is a perfect potential market for this venture. For one, India has an extremely large population base, which just naturally makes the possibilities that much more. In addition, India is able to understand that bringing Starbucks to India will only help to boost its economy, as this will create more jobs for the locals and will also bring more opportunities for the local investors as well.

Absolute and Comparative Advantage:
India has always been known for being a country which enjoys drinking tea. Since tea and coffee go hand in hand, it would only make sense that India will welcome Starbucks with open arms. In addition to this, the presence of Starbucks will open up opportunities for the many existing coffee chains in the country as well. Coffee shops have evolved in India as a place to meet and socialize.

Business Opportunity Analysis:
Ironically, India is actually one of the poorest countries in the world. In hearing this, one may first think that India would not be a good choice of a location to open a new business venture. However, due to the fact that the population of the country is over 1 billion people, there is strength in numbers, so the potential of a successful long term successful business is only likely.
