...Colorado advertisement. In the “You know you want a truck – 2015 Colorado Chevrolet” advertisement you see different groups of people being asked multiple questions to determine persuasive outlooks of two different types of vehicles, a man next to a truck and a man next to a car. Some of the groups that were being interviewed were kids, mature people, young single women, rich housewives, and guys with beards. The questions being asked to these groups were “which guy is more handsome, which man is sexier, and which one these two guys would you rather have date your daughter?” Of course most of the answers fell into the man next to the truck. The questions that were asked were sort of manipulated in a way to look only at the man next to the truck. The difference between the two men were the vehicles behind them. Each group were asked questions that were more convenient for them to answer. Kids were asked more innocent and obvious questions while single women were asked which man is sexier. Mature adults were asked which one of these two guys would you rather have date your daughter while the guys with beard were asked which man looks cooler. Before the groups were introduced the advertiser asked the audience, who does not own the Chevrolet truck and those who does. This advertisement is persuading the audience that if you buy the Chevrolet truck, it can make you look more handsome, more dependable, and more rugged. By doing so, the advertiser is speaking in a persuasive tone and...

Its contents are primarily for the information of the subject teachers concerned. 4040 Statistics November 2005 STATISTICS GCE Ordinary Level Paper 4040/01 Paper 1 General comments Once again, many very good scripts were submitted, but, as last year, probably not the same proportion of extremely high marks was achieved as was the case a few years ago. There were possibly a number of reasons for this. One point, made in this report last year, but which has clearly not been taken on board by some candidates relates to a situation, which occurred quite frequently in this paper, where a question requests that a final answer should be given to a particular level of accuracy. Time and again such a request was not complied with by a number of candidates...

...are invited to answer by writing their responses on the questionnaire. Questionnaire Objectives 1. To maximize the number of potential participants who complete the entire questionnaire. 2. To obtain accurate information. What to ask 1. The items in the questionnaire must yield data that answers the research questions. • Before starting to draft the questionnaire, write a list of all of the issues to be addressed. They might arise from reading the existing literature or from data collected in preliminary research – for example, from a focus group and/or a set of open-ended interviews. • Every issue in the research questions should be addressed by one or more items in the questionnaire. • The questionnaire should not ask questions about issues that are outside the scope of the research questions. 2. In addition to the questions addressing the research issue, demographic questions are included so the researcher can: • Describe the sample. • Assess the extent to which the sample is representative of the population being studied. Length The definition of the content influences the length of a questionnaire. If it is too short, there will be insufficient information to prepare the thesis. If it is too long, potential participants will not complete it. Writing questions The way questions are asked influences the quality of the data collected. 1. Ask questions the respondent can answer. The respondent must have the necessary knowledge to answer the questions...

...Jerry: To begin with, you should firmly shake the interviewer's hand while greeting him or her with a smile. Be sure to keep eye contact, especially when listening to the interviewer. Fay: Ah, "body language" is really important, isn't it? Jerry: Yes, it is. The second thing is to have confidence. You get confidence from being prepared. You should learn a little bit about the company before the interview. Find out what they do, how long they've been in business, what their business motto is, that kind of thing. You should also anticipate possible questions, and think about how you will answer. Fay: Should I memorize my answers beforehand? Jerry: No! Definitely not! That sounds very mechanical. You should be natural when you speak. Just think about how you want to answer, and choose the right words at the time of the interview. That way, you can use the interviewer's own words in your answer, which shows you've been listening. Then you're sure to make a good impression. Fay: I never thought about that before. You're really smart, Jerry! But what should I do if I can't remember an English word when I'm answering a question? Jerry: In that case, you have to paraphrase. In other words, you have to explain what you want to say....

...manipulated or snooped. Also, there is a high probability that the questions found on exams are just the retake of previous batches, thereby encouraging cheating and disclosure. The process of selecting questions from the test question bank is also troublesome and time-consuming. The task of choosing questions based on difficulty and domain of learning may be quite confusing especially if one decides to select the questions manually. It may require a lot of patience and keen analytical skills to obtain a competency exam in which questions based on week number are well-balanced to analyze effectively the competency of students who will take the exam. Another problem is the checking of the student’s papers and the registration of their answers on a test item analysis form, which will serve as a feedback mechanism to the recently concluded competency exam. Filling up this form requires a lot of time and effort. For every form, it...

...I walk towards the café, to meet him. He seems like an arrogant man, even though I do love her I can’t do this to her. Not now. From his description it does suit everything I have ever wanted. But I hope he won’t turn out to be atrocious. I organised to meet him at the café at twelve. It is a few minutes past, I walk around cautiously, looking for his description hoping I’m not set up. Suddenly my eyes are drawn towards a strong, bold man with soft blonde hair sitting along. It is him. I look around and cautiously walk slowly towards him. Hoping this isn’t going to be a mistake. The smell of coffee sway past my nose mixing with the other smells of fresh flowers and cake. My stiletto heels sound like knocks at the door as I walk towards him. I still can’t believe Anna is pressuring me into meeting him, and she made me that dating profile. I can see this turning out horribly, she doesn’t understand me. I’m hiding things from her which I hope to not get out not just yet. I have to go along with it to keep my friendship safe. “John? Sorry I’m late. I got caught up in work” I tell him, thinking why I should even bother telling him about my personal life. “Oh, that’s fine I only got here not too long ago myself. Would you like a coffee or something to eat?” He replies with poise. “Ah, yeah thankyou just a coffee I’m meeting someone later on for dinner” I reply not making any eye contact, keeping my eyes on the menu. “Yeah, how are you? So glad that I’m meeting you finally...

...matter. I have been a manual labor employee my whole life and have had many employers call a meeting of the staff only to talk to us like we are idiots, in the process belittling us causing me to not care about what they had to say. Another drawback to this is it puts whoever is giving the employees the talk on the spot leaving them unprepared to answer questions in depth. A great example of this is when I worked for a transportation company in Connecticut. One day our manager called a meeting after work now, off the bat this was a bad idea because all we could think about was going home and that was mistake one. The second mistake was informing us that the company decided to change the way our transportation department drivers did their routes. They decided to tell us the route we must take and that we could not vary from the route. They had a supposed efficiency expert do all the routes to make it more efficient. Now as drivers, we are all insulted because that means that we were not doing our jobs correctly. The third and final mistake was not having answers to our questions and the fact that we were not consulted. The only answer was the company thinks this will make us more productive. What the company did not see is that certain customers could not be delivered to until later so taking their route would take twice as long which meant a lot of overtime which the company was against. The positive side to this form of communication is wonderful. First of all it allows you to...
