...woods, and are surrounded by nature as they do so. Summertime in Palm Desert, however, consists of staying inside, swimming, and staying out of the sun to avoid heat-stroke. I, obviously, prefer summer in Pennsylvania. Last year, at the end of my Sophomore year, I traveled to Pennsylvania to spend some of the summer with my family. In truth, I spent most of the summer with my friend, Charlie, whom I have known my entire life. On the first day I arrived, he already wished to take me out on an adventure into the woods. Of course, I obliged, which resulted in my backpack being thrown onto my Grandmother’s porch, and my asthma making a recurrence as I ran down the street to catch up with him. We strolled down the stone sidewalk, it’s cracks causing me to trip a few times. Already I was enthralled, excitement making my hands shake in my hoodie pockets....

...SCI/241 Sunday-April 1, 2012 Kerri Kislin Tracking food intakes is essential to determine if a person is consuming adequate nutrients over periods. Tracking intakes helps to get on track and stay on track with healthy nutritional diets. Keeping track helps to determine if adjustments made to the diet are sufficient to achieve optimal nutrient amounts. After making the adjustments a food intake tracker will help to determine if more adjustments need made later or if I am on the right track. A food diary is an excellent way to track food intakes and calorie intakes. I input my food intakes from Monday to Wednesday and compared them with a previous intake analysis from six weeks ago. The new analysis was encouraging, my nutritional intakes improved drastically especially in the area of protein which was a previous struggle. My vegetable intake has increased to a good level; my whole grain intake has increased to a good level, and my protein intake increased. The new analysis did still show a need for improvement in dairy and fruit. My weekly intake of dairy and fruit has improved however, my daily intakes are still lacking. I need to work to find alternates methods of receiving adequate dairy intakes such as supplements, purchasing soymilk, or yogurts. I also need to continue to work at including fruit in my daily diet, I can grab an apple or banana with my breakfast bar I take to work with me. I purchased kiwi for...

...refrigerators, cars, etc. Harrah’s was not providing this necessity to their customers. There was no change, no adrenaline rush. They lacked centricity. The right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing. Harrah’s has numerous hotels all doing differently. They had data, but there were not using it. II. How does calculating the customer expected net worth help in addressing the SOW problem? Harrah’s will see what is working and what is not working for them by doing an expected net worth per customer. By tracking this data they can offer “new” and “exciting” offers to their customers. III. What key recommendations would you make in solving the SOW problem? If you know a loyal customer is going to Las Vegas, but not staying at a Harrah’s casino simply ask the customer why? Give them chips to use in the Vegas casino as a thank you for filling out the survey. Take a good look at what the other casinos in the area are offering. In fact go stay at some of them to see how hospitality, rooms, grounds compete with your hotel. Without a lot of expense can you match their efforts? Their marketing strategies may be free food while gambling, babysitting services, tickets to the area shows either free or at a discount. My key recommendation is update the rooms. They are very plain and ugly. I went to their website and the rooms in Vegas are cheap looking. They have lost the old world feel that I’m sure was there when the hotel was first built in the 50’s....

...and on track C. Prevent distractions D. Keep motivation alive E. Reassure your goals IV. Practice discipline continuously F. Manage your time G. Maintain stress at low levels V. Conclusion Personal responsibility in its relation to college success means taking charge of one’s own actions. Being responsible takes a lot of effort and will, as it’s a learned behavior. One has to have a well defined goal and strive continuously to achieve it. Staying focus will also keep you on track and motivated to succeed. Having the discipline to manage time, daily activities and stress can lead to accomplishing our goals. To begin with, students must have well defined goals and be willing to commit to them. Having he passion for these goals will make it easier to handle, by having passion – the student will always strive to put all effort towards accomplishing and surpassing all road blocks one can face in daily life, if it is to compromise one’s own personal life, family and other activities. Having the initiative to face these obstacles will demand a lot of responsibility, because no one else will be inclined to care for your own actions other than yourself. A lot of times taking things step by step such as working to a single goal or short term goal is more successful than trying to set different goals that will take a long time to accomplish and it can lead you to failure. Second, personal responsibility will help you stay on track and focused...

...this chapter: I will live my life as a positive, motivated person who sticks to my commitments in life and in school to provide independence and stability for myself and for my family. HOW WILL YOUR GUIDING STATEMENT HELP… If you have a disagreement with your supervisor at work. By staying positive regardless of the disagreement and realizing that my commitments to my job are more important than any disagreement that may occur. Without my job I would not be able to provide financial stability or independence for myself or my family. If your class paper or project receives a failing grade from your professor. My guiding statement will remind me to stay positive and motivated to try harder, and motivate me to seek additional help from tutors, colleges, and my professor. The ultimate goals are to provide stability and independence and without succeeding at my commitment to school and class those two things are not achievable. If you are having a disagreement with someone for whom you care deeply (friend, spouse, partner, parent, work associate, etc. . . .). Staying positive and focused helps in any disagreement. Staying motivated towards your commitments helps too. Although staying positive during any disagreement is sometimes challenging, I have found that by keeping positive about the situation, that it can help you work through the disagreement faster. I have found that positive attitudes tend to rub off eventually which helps toward a resolution. If you see...

...products that they sell it is strategic management. Having the ability to predict and stay in the forefront of the economy for the products that a company can see is what sets business apart, those who can do this survive and those who cannot adapt will not last long. The University of Phoenix is a prime example of a company that is ever changing, while staying front of the competition. While the landscape of education continues to change, the university continues to be in the driver’s seat for those looking to go back to school. The university was designed for the working adult and continues to stay that way while reinventing the way education is brought to its students. If the university did not think strategically, they would not be around today. Education for adults these days is business, and being able to predict the marketplace changes is what sets the university apart from others in similar fields. The University of Phoenix incorporates every aspect of strategic management into its business model, from basic financial planning, to forecasting to even outsourcing to external resources to make sure that everything is staying on track. While education is a business there still needs to be a set of standards that the schools have to follow to make sure they are providing a quality education that can be used later in the marketplace. ...The Odyssey Essay As Mahatma Gandhi said "A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenched faith in their mission can alter the course of history." This quote greatly relates to Odysseus and his leadership skills, he was a very determined person wanting to make it back home so badly and never gave up hope that he would achieve his goal. Odysseus was a great leader who showed courage and wisdom numerous times throughout his journey. Just as importantly, he thought of not only his own well being, but his crews as well. He was so determined that he made it his priority to stay on track, only veering from course if absolutely necessary. Some important characteristics that a great leader must have are bravery and courage, they must also be wise and witty. Odysseus definitely portrayed all these skills throughout his journey. For example, when he and his men got trapped in Polyphemus's cave, he came up with a clever plan to get them out as safely as possible. He was smart enough at first to tell the cyclops a false name "Nobody-that's my name. Nobody-so my mother and father call me, all my friends". (IX- 410) Tricking the cyclops meant that they wouldn't have been punished for what they did,...

...How does the business handle these demands? The video provided valuable information on the Importance of Measuring Enterprise, in which a business deals with day to day transitions, monitoring how well they can handle the demands of Measuring, track, and managing the work environment. This will be the way it can improve as well as support any management decisions. This is a key factor for any business to monitor the overall production process of the organization, helping management with decision making. One of the benefits is that businesses have the capability to monitor up-to-the minute information, and have real time tracking business transactions. In the video, it states that very few firms have very good data systems that use information technology to track the flow of goods and services. Data can easily be manipulated to adjust numbers for any given company especially the firms that outsource data to other countries. The majority of the companies, who outsource data to other countries, do it to cut down on the cost. One of the issues is that there is no real audit for outsourcing business data; therefore they can be altering the numbers to show that the production is doing well. In today’s world organizations are able to track their data with computer programs that gives management feedback on goods and services. For instance, an Enterprise application is computer program or software that is designed to integrate all aspects of a company’s operations and allows for better...
