... RE: Proposal to do a research paper on the strategies and policies used by street hawker are helping the corruption to grow more faster. Introduction; I propose to find the unbelievable but realistic truth about the unfair business policies and strategies of street hawkers which are effecting the growth of corruption badly. Street hawkers may looks like a very poor and decent people but for their business they are following many such strategies that are very unethical. Moreover as a result of those policies some honest people in the same profession can not make this business profitable. Understanding the bad effects of those policies I intend my paper to be a background report for audiences and hope that my research will help readers to concern about this problem and take adequate actions to solve it. Areas to be studied: At this point in my research I have identified the following four questions to investigate: 1) What are the main strategies and policies of street hawkers which are unethical? 2) What are the main reasons to follow these unfair business strategies and policies? 3) What are the advantages and disadvantages to follow these strategies and policies? 4) How these strategies and policies will affect the growth rate of...

...FORMALIZING THE INFORMAL STREET VENDING Street Vending has been an issue as illegal encroachments take up a lot of public land and create issues of traffic congestion, unhygienic conditions, aesthetic devaluation, etc. The legislation for regulating street vending has been under scanner for long. The most recent legislation, The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 aims to address the issue in a comprehensive manner. Earlier, street vending has been under municipal bodies regulated by their own laws under state legislature. Few cities like Bhubaneswar had managed to have ‘vending zones’ and regularization measures before this law came in. But it is a problem in most urban areas as of now. The new legislation provides for a ‘Town Vending Committee’ under the municipality with other representatives as members. They are to take up the responsibility of preparing street vending plans and schemes along with issuing certificates to vendors and managing them. Railway premises are exempt from this act. The legislation suggests for preparation of plans and schemes, though in no way it actually comes up with norms for street vending. It is to be prepared by town vending committee every five years along with town planning department. The legislation is a tool to control the unaccounted activities of informal sector in street vending. But there has been agitations regarding removal of such street vendors ‘non complying’ to the plans and schemes...

...Loob at Labas: A Multiple Setting Case Study about Product Duplication in Public Markets Alix, Viblikka Faye Canare, Arra Camille Catolico, Keith Dolalas, Leslie Love Garcia, Elmer Ponce October 10, 2013 Introduction Markets have been part of everyone’s daily lives. It is where people can buy the ingredients for their meals for the day, school related things, and even clothes and accessories; there’s no need to go to grocery stores and malls to purchase their desired items. Also, markets (public markets) provide items at a lower price compared to those sold in leading grocery stores and malls. Since many people prefer buying goods from the public markets, the number of people who wants to sell their goods there is also high. In this regard, laws and some literature where written to help improve the schemes in public markets. In some areas in Metro Manila like Marikina, there are laws that were made to prohibit people from buying from sidewalk vendors as per Ordinance No. 201, Series of 1993. As a whole, we also have laws that were implemented to systematize the arrangement of stalls (Senate Bill No. 1319, Chapter 4 Section3). In relation to the laws found in the archive of Marikina City, we decided to make a research about the selling of goods “informally” or “illegally” outside public markets, also known as product duplication. Hence, this study will focus on how duplication of goods occurs in public markets. At the end of this study, the researchers aim to...

...Running head: HAWKER BEECHCRAFT MOVES TO MEXICO Hawker Beechcraft Moves to Mexico MGMT-325 Abstract The fall of 2008 began an unprecedented period of economic turmoil with the United States and around the world. Seemingly overnight, the aircraft manufacturing boom experienced by many U.S. companies was gone. With losses totally into the hundreds of millions, aircraft manufacturers were forced to change business strategies or face financial collapse. Common to most changes in business strategy has been the increased use of offshore manufacturing. This paper will analyze the recent decision by Hawker Beechcraft to move sub-assembly manufacturing to Mexico, and how that decision has affected their shareholders and stakeholders. It will cover corporate social responsibility (CSR), ethical decision making, and the ethical implications associated with that decision. Hawker Beechcraft Moves to Mexico In order to understand the decisions made by Hawker Beechcraft, it is necessary to define and have a clear understanding of corporate social responsibility, the process of ethical decision making, and have an understanding and knowledge of the conditions faced by Hawker Beechcraft and their Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Corporate Social Responsibility Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the responsibility organizations accept for their decisions and ultimately their impact on society, people, and the environment. Footnote evidences of population increasing and lack of seats at food centres? During lunch and dinner timings, many are unable to find a seat as soon as they reach the food centres and thus they are forced to wait until there is a vacant seat. The impatient ones may then choose not to eat and leave the food centre. As such, during those peak hours, many of those who manage to get a seat would use their belongings such as their tissue paper and umbrellas to reserve their seats. This would thus cause foreigners who visit the food centres to think that Singapore is a society that lacks graciousness. ...Logan Stafford Johnny Bragg Interpersonal Communication 7 October 2013 We're Going To Need a Bigger Park For this paper, I chose Steven Spielberg, and chose the movies; Jurassic Park, and Jaws. The movies are very different, but they are very similar in their own way. The beginning of both movies are actually extremely similar. In the opening of Jaws, we see nothing, but ultimately the music starts playing, and to start things off, the girl (not sure if she had a name) was killed by Jaws to open up the film. However, Jurassic Park started off with pretty much the same thing. We couldn't see the raptor that they were trying to put in the holding fence, but we did see one of the park employee's get dragged into the cage with the raptor. That is what gave me the idea to write this on similarities. Both movies result in the deaths of five people by a(n) animal(s), I found that kind of interesting. Both Jaws and Jurassic Park use the element of surprise and suspension, because you don't always see the creatures, but you know that they are there. Both movies were huge successes and the special effects were revolutionary for their times. For the characters, I'm not comparing their personalities, just the roles they played in their movie. Martin Brody, the main character in Jaws, and Dr. Ian Malcolm, from Jurassic Park, are both characters that warn what is going to happen in the film, but are ignored and eventually proven right. John Hammond, the man behind the cloning of dinosaurs...

...distinct enough to shine through all kinds of studio interference and through the collective process.” Auteur is a french word meaning ‘ Author’ Arising in France in the late 1940s, the auteur theory it was dubbed by the American film critic Andrew Sarris was an outgrowth of the cinematic theories. The features of being an auteur include; 1 having a recognizable style, 2 repeatedly returning to the same subject mater, 3 habitually address a particular psychological or moral theme, 4 employ a reoccurring visual and aesthetic style, 5 constantly work with the same actors or cinametogarphers or editors…ect , or demonstrate any combination of the above. Steven Spielberg is an auteur and today I am going to prove it. I will show you through his use of themes, subject matter, visual style, Collaborations, and Institutions. Steven Allan Spielberg was born to parents Arnold and Leahanni Spielberg. The older brother to three younger sisters, Spielberg began experimenting with film in his early teens making movies he would show at his family house. At 13, Spielberg was already showing glimpses of future greatness, even winning a prize for his 40-minute war film 'Escape to Nowhere'. The family often moved with his father's job and it was at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, Arizona that he produced his first feature-length film, 'Firelight', a science fiction movie with a budget of $400. Foreshadowing his future success, the film turned a tidy $100 profit after it was shown at a local...

...Crusades were war-pilgrimages proclaimed by the Popes, striving for the recovery and defense of Christian territories as well as the defense of the Christian people whom made up these territories. There is a modern belief that the Medieval Crusades were “a classic example of the evil that organized religions can do”. Furthering this absurd depiction of Crusades, they are modernly viewed as insidious, cynical, and provokers of aggression against the peaceful, prosperous, and sophisticated Muslim world. According Sir Steven Runciman, the author of the three-volume work, A History of the Crusades, the Crusades were morally regnant acts of intolerance in the name of God. In contrast to Sir Steven Runciman as well as the modern belief that the Crusades were a black mark on the history of the Western civilization but more particularly on the Catholic Church, the scholars whom lied out good histories in the past twenty years have come to the conclusion that many of these myths of the Crusades are as wrong as wrong can be. One of the many myths, the Crusades were said to be the wars of unprovoked aggression against the peaceful Muslim world. This irrational proclamation of the Crusades is wrong firstly because of mass success that the Islamic conquest of the newly unified muslims under the rule of Muhammad that conquered two thirds of the Medieval Christian world. If anything the Muslims were the ones that were out for blood and instigated these wars against the Christian world. Thus...

...Steven Spielberg wrote in Time Magazine that at the core of Zhang Yimou’s filmography “was the idea that the conflict of man foretells the desire for inner peace”. Spielberg’s statement precisely embodies the underlying meaning in both films “To Live” and “Hero” (Person of the Year). Both films reinforce the idea that humanity conquers all. Humility and benevolence are hard to come by, easily trotted upon, and often taken advantage of. However, it is only through personal strife that we often embody these qualities and begin to develop inner piece. Both films employ powerful and sad events to help expose political shortcomings and ailments that have a direct and real result on society. I believe that at the heart of Yimou’s cinematography is the idea that, after all is said and done, goodwill humanity will prevail. In “To Live”, a Chinese family experiences more misfortunes than blessings. Because of gambling, unfortunate circumstances, and political instability and change, we see Fugui and his family go through a traumatic transformation from riches to rags. But what’s captivating to watch is that as life becomes more difficult and situations worsen, Fugui begins to appreciate the finer things in life. He soul wakes up to morality and purpose when for so long it was bogged down by selfishness, power, and earthly desires. Through cultural symbolism, we are reminded of the important values perpetuated by this film. From the puppet shows to an eclectic mix of Chinese instrumentation...

...The Knife Thrower – An essay The story ‘’The Knife Thrower’’ is an American short story published in 1997, and written by Steven Millhauser. The text is an obvious criticism to the postmodern society, in which we are living. It mainly deals with the divided minds of society, which are dazzlingly confused. The minds are confused in condition of dividing up what good and bad thoughts and lusts are. Throughout the story, we are presented to the relatively disturbing, but yet relatable theme ‘’Moral Duality’’. The theme shines through by the main setting of the story, which happens to be in a circus, during an immensely thrilling performance. The theme ‘’Moral Duality’’ is for instance seen when the main person is watching the knife thrower’s show: ‘’ The knife struck beside her neck. He had missed – had he missed? – and we felt a sharp tug of disappointment, which changed at once to shame, deep shame, for we hadn’t come for blood, only for – well, something else;…’’ (ll. 58-61 P.2). forklar citatet Theme characterization support Firstly, it’s important to mention, that the theme ‘’Moral Duality’’ is supported several times in the main quote: ‘’ The knife struck beside her neck. He had missed – had he missed? – and we felt a sharp tug of disappointment, which changed at once to shame, deep shame, for we hadn’t come for blood, only for – well, something else;…’’ (ll. 58-61 P.2). Apart from the divided minds, the fact that the main persons are described in plural is really interesting...

...Name Professor Course Date The Beast Below” episode 2 by Moffat The Beast below is perceived as the second episode of the series concerning a British science narrative called “Doctor who.” It is an incident complete with choices as well as the political implications (“Odoni”). Consequently, this paper will consider Moffat’s film, “The Beast Below” where the author uses the science fiction to explore the theme of technology and child development. The impact of science fiction with a child is used in the series through the Doctor, whose show was principally intended for the kids as well as for educational purposes. But over the period the science fiction as well as revulsion basics proposed by its time voyage origins took over the objectives that were extensively acknowledged. The shows educational association to the kids closely informs the presence of science fiction through the use of the “beast” also, one of the series feeble achievements. Starting with what emerges to be a town suspended in space garlanded with the unification of Jack flag as well as alternate strong “tall buildings” designed with the names of British towns. The school going kids in certain a small boy is explained about the outcomes of the latest assessment from a robot in place of an instructor. Thus, this was also to demonstrate the presence of technology to the children whereby the robots replaced the tutors in class. The use of technology through the robot makes the...

...Saving Private Ryan 1998, dir. Steven Spielberg, Sound Designer Gary Rydstrom War movies often rely on the visual to communicate the events and emotion of each scene. This works up to a point, but viewers cannot fully relive battle in this way. Background music and limited sound effects make war movies generic, predictable, and sometimes historically inaccurate. In contrast, Gary Rydstrom uses sound to communicate emotion and portray realistic battle scenes in a way that makes the viewers feel as though they are actually part of Saving Private Ryan. One unique aspect of this movie, as opposed to other war movies, is that there is no background music in the battle scenes. Music in movies tends to make viewers realize they are watching the movie, but without it, the experience is so much more authentic. The battle scenes are shot with a handheld camera, giving them a shaky and chaotic feel. Because of this, the viewer does not really get the chance to experience the full breadth of the battle through the shot. Humans experience sound at all angles, as opposed to the one angle at which we experience sight. The dynamic sound effects of the battle scenes can completely engulf the viewer, helping them to have the full experience of trauma. Rydstrom paid particularly close attention to certain sound effects in these battle scenes to help them be as historically correct as possible. A variety of gunshot noises appear in each battle scene, each one corresponding to a different weapon...
