Based on the readings and the attached presentations on Collaboration, describe two conflict situations.

Describe one in which the outcome did not workout the way you wanted and the other which worked out perfectly.

Using Stewart Levine's "cycle of resolution", discuss each situation in relation to his collaborative process.

Identify both the point of difficulty and/or turning point in each situation.

Levine (2009), explains that conflict is natural, neither positive nor negative, it is. According to Brown (2011), conflict is a natural social interaction, and managers should be able to recognize the types of conflicts and channel them in appropriate directions. Webster dictionary defines conflict as a difference that prevents agreement. After reflecting on these definitions I got a better understanding of positives and negatives of a conflict.

Example of Outcome that did not worked.

When I was going through Officer Candidate School, I had a disagreement with a fellow roommate about how we are going to get the room ready for our fourth week inspection. This was already a stressful event, multiply by no sleep and …show more content…
-Listening for a Preliminary Vision of Resolution – I was easy to come to a decision and move on and not listen to my roommate concerns. -Getting Current and Complete – I wasn’t brutally honest and held some factual information back.
-Seeing a Vision for the Future Agreement in Principle – In the end we did agree on a solution to the conflict.
-Crafting the New Agreement Making the Vision into Reality – We did place any specific details on the resolution of the conflict due to the timeframe in making a time critical decision.
-Resolution – The reality of decision was that we failed our inspection and had to redo our
