Strengths and Challenges Reflection GS1145 My name is Chris Woodward. I started this program not just to make more money, but to better my skills. I can make something more of myself. I’d also like to say, that I have a lot to learn when it comes to going back to school. I believe the challenges I face will make it very difficult for me. I haven’t been to school for over 12 years now. Not only am I in school, but I am juggling family life and work as well. This is definitely a learning curve for me. When I take the time to assess my goals in life, I begin to understand what’s most important to me, and that is my family. When I factor in my family, it allows me to step up and guide myself in such a way that I begin to realize what it would be like if I didn’t succeed. School is all new to me, but at the same time it is also very beneficial. Without it I would stand still. I’d wonder where I would be if I didn’t make that first step. Now I can safely say I’m definitely on the right path. For many years I have worked in customer service, so I have learned a few things that I can bring to class. Each time I’ve attended this class I thought I knew it all, but now I realize there’s more to be taught. We all have different ideas. I feel that we each possess a certain skill that will benefit each and every one. I don’t really possess much of an academic history, except for what I’ve learned while being in the military. When I joined the service, I became an Electrician. It opened my eyes in the job industry. I realized there was more to life than working paycheck to paycheck. I knew then that it was up to me to give my family a better future. I then began to look outside of the box and started network marketing. This by the way was a mistake! It got me into more trouble than I anticipated. Now I find myself to be on a good path. The strength of this path will guide me in ways I never thought possible. I look forward to building a strong foundation with a certain goal in mind. I feel that I’ll take this knowledge and succeed in my ventures, and not only as a career, but being able to overcome all challenges in my life and creating software programs to better the future. Thanks for allowing me to express my strengths and challenges. I believe by writing this down it not only gives me courage, but allows you as my instructor to see what I’m capable of.
Sincerely,
Chris Woodward

Strengths and Challenges Reflection Letter

...Strengths and Challenges Reflection Letter Dear Professor Lambert: I really do not have any questions at this time for this course because I am not really sure exactly what this course is for or what it is going to teach us. However I do look forward to the people I will meet in this class, also the obstacles we will overcome together. I would have to say some of my strengths would have to be typing, also my past knowledge of the ethical hacking or unethical that I have already experienced. Although it may not be the ideal thing to mention, it is however the reason I became infatuated with computers. I will return to ITT for my bachelor’s degree in cyber security. Some challenges I know I will face with going to college is the amount of writing we will perform. I do not think of myself as a great writer, I will further my knowledge on the ideal ways of writing papers. In the past when it comes to academic’s my grades no problem attendance however now that’s another story. I have never been a big fan of getting up every day to go to school, but this is for my future so I hope that will continue to be enough motivation for me. I know I will have to get into the habit of reading the textbook or e-book it defiantly does help with understanding the assignments and also gives examples which is very useful to me. I will do my best in this course and of course in college all in all, this is without a doubt the field I would like to be in due to the need of IT professionals and also...

...Personal development plan final reflection essay Personal Development Plan Final Reflection Essay In my previous personal development plan, I had made several initiatives through which I hoped to achieve certain goals both in academics and in social life. In the previous personal development plan, I had embarked more on the process that I believe would help me to think about my own learning, performance and achievements as well as to plan my personal, educational, social and career development. Since I made the plan within the PDP, there are certain changes that I have witnessed happening in my career, social and learning areas. For example, I have noted that for the last one semester, I have improved in a number of areas that I had pointed in my last PDP. In academics, I have achieved a lot, as my average grades have improved from the previous B+ to an A. This is primarily because I was able to develop clear SWOT analysis, in which I recognized my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats not only in academics, but also in my social life, extra-curricular activities and any other activity I took. With this plan, I worked hard to perfect my strengths, correct the weaknesses and make them my strong points, utilize the opportunities placed within my abilities and finally recognize and avoid any negative effect that was posed by the threats in the SWOT analysis (Bolton 2010). From these considerations, I recognized that some of my strengths were the ability to work under...

...Family Development Credential® Program Skills Practice Description and Reflection: (Include with the portfolio) Worker’s Name Darren Sanchez Chapter 2 A skill that I practiced was (as listed in the book or describe one that you developed in consultation with your Portfolio Advisor): Meet with a friend or a member of your own family to discuss a concern. Practice using the format of stating what happened, what you felt, and what you want clearly and respectfully. Use communication helpers and feedback to reflect back what you hear. Write a reflection on the experience and identify the strengths you saw in yourself and the other person. A description of what I did to practice this skill: Last Friday I had a conversation with my fiancé about a concern that I had when I was around her friends and family. We spoke about how I felt uncomfortably because of the language barrier and how I see how my family is with her and I don’t feel the same way in return. Immediately she went on the defensive end and stated that I was over reacting and how that they attempt to speak to me. I quickly stopped her and asked how and gave her many examples of how they do not include me in things. For example, we can all be sitting in a room and immediately they go into speaking Spanish, although my parents are from Puerto Rico my Spanish isn’t the best Spanish. I even went on the defense and told her that my own family includes her into...

Leadership

...What makes an effective, moral, and efficient school leader? Over the last few years at MSUM I have learned what it takes to have strong leadership in a school. My philosophy of leadership has many components which have been derived from my various classes and readings in the educational leadership program. Leadership in my eyes is a combination of having an open mind, shared vision, strong collaboration, lifelong learner, and a willingness to take risks. I feel that I have come a long way in all of those areas of leadership. How we interact and work with one another leads to success in anything. Admiral Arleigh A. Burke has a quote about leadership that I feel is a clear picture of what exactly leadership is, "leadership is understanding people and involving them to help you do a job. That takes all of the good characteristics, like integrity, dedication of purpose, selflessness, knowledge, skill, implacability, as well as determination not to accept failure." For any leadership to be effective there must be a focused and shared vision that everyone is a part of. The vision is one of the most crucial pieces for leadership to follow because it determines how we make decisions. Decisions that are made without following the vision can not only hurt the school, but lead to chaos in the school system. Having a clear vision will help leadership and other stakeholders determine goals and provide direction for the school. In conjuncture with that I feel it is...

Differentiating tasks or activities enables and supports ELL students in many ways. Using differentiated teaching strategies gives ELL students the leverage that is needed to be successful. In the case of the aspects of quantity and quality for example, the same reading task can be assigned to the whole class, but students do not have to do the same number of questions or exercises. The ELL students are given a choice and can choose to do one or more tasks; it is important for them to progress at their own pace and interest. Explain how the differentiation of assessments allowed the English language learners to demonstrate knowledge in various ways. My Refletion on Leadership and Communication Trainings

...My reflection on leadership and communication trainings. As a development practitioner it is increasingly inevitable to work with others in teams. While people in every workplace talk about building teams and working as a team, it is not always easy developing an effective team. Through reflection on the communication and leadership trainings which we have had, I have become aware of useful strategies to deal with issues and to gain commitment to the goals of the team. These strategies include effective communication skills, learning my qualities and weaknesses so that I can work on them and developing team building skills. All these are important for my learning and for my development as a professional. The following reflection forms are a summary of the trainings and how they have influenced me both as an individual and as a professional. Reflective journal - Day 1 1. What happened today, what topics are dealt with, what exercises did we do? | Today we discussed communication. First we had the exercise of speed dating. Through this exercise we shared among ourselves aware of our strengths and weaknesses as communicators. We then analysed how the exercise went, how it made us feel and the difficulties we might have faced in the process.During this training day we also discussed the qualities that make one a good communicator, as well as the attributes of leaders and managers. To illustrate the importance of some of the skills we had discussed we had an observation exercise...

...Self Reflection Report to Improve Leadership Skills Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report Self-Reflection Essay What better way exists to examine key concepts of organizational behaviour than to reflect on one's own experiences and beliefs as they apply to workplace successes and failures? In this report, I intend to review a variety of theories relative to organizational behaviour by considering each in relation to my own experiences as a mid-level manager. This reflection will focus primarily on three themes including personality, working in groups, and leadership. Throughout this report, I will consider my own personal strengths and weaknesses, attempting to determine how each affected situational outcomes. Many of these strengths and weaknesses were highlighted through a series of self-assessment exercises completed as part of the "Prentice Hall Self-Assessment Library" (Robbins and Judge, 2007), the results of which will be regularly referred to in this report. In closing, I will summarize areas requiring continued personal effort in order to ensure ongoing development and both personal and professional growth. Hero as a Reflection

...The Hero as a Reflection of Culture Belen Lowrey Abstract: In works of literature, a hero is a man to be admired and emulated. For this reason, the hero always demonstrates the embodiment of the ideals of the creating culture. Historical events and social conditions of different cultures cause different attributes to become valued in leaders. These cultural values are reflected in both the actions of a hero and in the heroic motivations. This paper focuses on the heroes of the Iliad, the Aeneid, Beowulf, and The Song of Roland and examines how historical events and cultural circumstances shaped the portrayal of the heroes in these works. Sabiduria, vol.1,1 Hero as a Reflection of Culture 1 Every culture has heroes. In works of literature, is an individual to be admired and emulated, and because of this he is the embodiment of the greatest virtues of the culture that created him. The ideals of every culture were shaped by the social conditions of the time and therefore different attributes became valued. To different degrees, the hero in a work is a result of not only the culture from which the hero comes, but also the culture of the author. Cultural values are reflected in both the actions of a hero and his motivations. As heroes, Achilles, Aeneas, Beowulf, and Roland reflect the values of the societies that created them. One of the oldest works of ancient literature is Homer‟s Iliad. Homer‟s works are dated to between 900 and 750 B.C. (Krieger,...

Letter to Freire

...identify with common people and educators like me. Our school has had many issues primarily with our funding. But the main problem is (I realize that you like to name the problem first) that I and other former teachers are getting ready to lose our retirement benefits! We worked extra hours weekly at our local community elementary school to ensure that our benefits would be available when we retired! Now when many of us need more income, it is going to be reduced, or discontinued. This problem can easily be explained. The funds were redirected to a fleet of expensive cars that are being driven around by public school board members. Now that the problem has been defined, action in the form of a lawsuit must be taken. Serious dialogue, reflection, and an attempt to find common ground will be tried first. Another way may be running for the local school board, as it has an opening. I know that you had a middle-class upbringing with a piano and so did I. You then lost your family money, due to an economic depression and so did I. GA has an economic...

Reflection Letter

...Unit: 2 Assignment 1: Strengths & Challenges Reflection Letter Hello, It’s a pleasure to be in class GS1145 on Monday evenings. Especially being out of school since 2005. I can see that this program has lots to offer for student. The course I’m taking is Electrical Engineering, and I’m very thrilled to further my education at ITT-Tech. In this letter I’ll discuss my past challenges from being in school, to my strengths as a student. Also I’ll be going over plans and ideas I’ll be using to do my very best, to meet expectations. My biggest difficulties and weakness that I’ve always had in my past years of school, had been being able to speak in groups and presentations. It’s been a big challenge that I had trouble over coming back in High School. Sometimes I tend to over think thoughts, or get to nervous with speaking out clearly with thoughts and ideas. I plan to over come this difficulty by not over thinking certain ideas, situations, and being able to get ideas out. I also plan on working more in groups and participating more. One of things I enjoy about these courses, are the group presentations that are required by most classes. This will definitely help getting past that shyness, that I always had in the past when it came to presentations. This is something I’m looking forward in future projects and assignments. Some of my strengths are working in groups, paying attention to detail, and being creative. I like being able to...
