1- It is my first time back in actual college classes, and even though I tried my hardest I still did not pass chemistry. My conflict is within myself as I feel like a failure.
2- The technique that I have used for this particular stressor is cognitive restructuring.
3- The way I went about coping with this stressor is I became aware of the issue through a journal entry, I then expressed my issues to my husband. We came up with a plan of how I can still salvage my GPA, which involved me contacting a VA representative.
4- I took her information and reappraised the way I thought about this situation. She explained that I could use my grade forgiveness the next time that I take the class. I am making all A’s in my other classes and I spend hours in the library studying so I know that I am not a failure. I feel more confident that I will be able to pass next time. I have come to realize that maybe I just didn’t understand the way that my instructor explained things. By pushing out the toxic thoughts and also including my husband in my issue, I have a better support system. This approach was really effective for me.
