...today’s University students among the reasons contributing to an ever increasing trend of working during education could be the increasing financial pressures from higher college tuition and fees, the necessity of gaining social experiences, and academic requirements for practical internships. The likelihood of working while in school for college students has been increasing particularly as the cost of education has also been rising. Noni’s and Hudson (2006) Academic performance is measured by the standing of rates of grades of student in every subject. Having a high level of performance on the academic area of a student suggest its competency and high level of confidence on its certain field. Students have their own attitude towards learning and achieving a high level of academic performance. The development of their enthusiasm towards succeeding in their own field varies. In order for a student to succeed he needs to be armed with strategies and techniques that will supplement his desire to reach his goals. Crede and Kuncel (2008) One way is to have an efficient and adaptive study habit. This phenomenon can be linked to multi factors that affect their study habit. Such factors can be found in their environment, these includes the type of house they live in; the people around them and the level of support they give; the student and his family’s daily routines; the availability of resources for studying; and also his family’s economic status. ...daily needs leaving students into thinking that they may do something to help their parents by engaging themselves to work. The number of employment rate in the Philippines nowadays is increasing (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2015). With this impressive increase of statistical record on labor and employment, we can assume that working students are involved. Nevertheless, the people who have graduated are more likely under the unemployed statistical rate. Being a working student is very admiring. They need to work to be able to sustain their education, but the downside of it all is that they may prioritize work over studies. Blinded by the power of money, education is left behind as though it did not help them get to where they are today. Sheila Marie A. Ibe, 2nd year college taking BS Airline Business Administration in Philippine Air Transport and Training Services (PATTS), is a working student in Jollibee Parañaque as a Cashier Lady. It is not that they cannot sustain daily needs but it is because she wants to put herself out in the real world and experience the feeling of having a salary after a month-long of hard work. Cedie Santos who graduated at Montessori School last June 15 had also been a working student. He says that it is not easy; you need to know your priorities so your goals are set to be achieved and that time management is very important, too. Based on the researchers’ observation, the number one prevailing problem of being a working student is being tired....

...Many university students engage in paid employment. Discuss the impact of this on their academic performance and their overall experience at university. ABSTRACT Many university engage in paid employment for various reasons such as earning extra income, work experiences. Working while studying provides a stronger basis of working experience for later professional graduate employment and also earns a considerate amount of income that supports the basis of living against the rising inflation and cost of tuition fee. However it is possible that this has detrimental effects on a higher GPA. Not that students lack of intellectual value but rather this is a choice to emphasize on working more rather on studying. ...This chapter discusses the related concepts and finding from various literature and studies from books, journals, and online resources to support the necessity of the causes and effects of study habits on children. What is Development? Many people use the terms “growth” and “development” interchangeably. In reality they are different, though they are inseparable; neither takes place alone. Growth refers to quantitative changes – increases in size and structure. Not only does the child grows larger physically, but the size and structure of the internal organs and the brain increase. As a result of the growth of the brain, the child has a greater capacity for learning, for remembering, and for reasoning. He grows mentally as well as physically. Development, by contrast, refers to qualitative changes. It may be defined as a progressive series of orderly, coherent changes. “Progressive “signifies that the changes are directional, that they lead forward rather than backward. “Orderly” and “coherent” suggest that there is a definite relationship between the given stage and the stages which precede or follow it. As Anderson has emphasized, “Nor is development merely a matter of adding inches to stature, or ability to ability; instead, it is a complex process of integrating many structures and functions”. Because of this integration, each change is dependent upon what preceded it, and it, in turn, affects what will come after. (Elizabeth Murlock, 1972) People change whether for good...

...COURSE: RESEARCH METHODS PROPOSAL WRITING TOPIC: ASSESSMENT OF STUDENTS: WHETHER END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATION IS THE ONLY INDICATOR OF STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE. (A CASE STUDY OF UNIVERSITY OF GHANA) INTRODUCTION Lecturers most often use assessment to obtain information that helps them improve their instruction. This in turn helps them to bridge the gap between curriculum standards and student achievement. Assessment is also used for accountability purposes, for both students and teachers. Classrooms are made up of a diversity of learners and so to help them to make appropriate instructional decisions and to provide valid information for accountability, teachers use a wide variety of assessments. PROBLEM DEFINITION Most tertiary institutions determine students’ performance only on the basis of examination at the end of each semester. The issue here is whether examination is enough to determine a student’s performance and whether it’s indeed gives a true and fair view of actual performance. LITERATURE REVIEW Veteran first grade teacher Debbi Beckhorn states "... I have seen many changes in the arena of assessment and monitoring of student progress. More and more, it seems, we need to 'check in' with students more frequently in order to carefully lead them in their next step in the learning process. I use a variety of assessment tools to 'dip in' to a student's progress..."(Beckhorn, 2000). For this first grade teacher, the use of assessment information helps...
