When I was a child, I experience death for the first time. The person that past was important in my life. This event left me with questions that were similar to Metaphysics. One of the questions I had in particular dose a person have a soul and what happens when a person dies. The answer as silly as this sounds, came tome in a dream. After I lost this person I had a dream a few days later. In the dream it was if I could see myself dreaming something like an outer body experience. I could see my self asleep dreaming but it was clear I was not awake. Also in my dream was the person I had lost came to me and let me know they where okay and not to worried about them. I believe my soul had contact with the soul of the decease. This also answers my second part of my question. I feel that when the body dies the soul lives in two places. The first is the soul lives on in the memories and lessons that where also past on by the individual. The other place is the soul lives in heaven with the divine. When I was child I also had a short stint in catholic school. The one thing I can remember is the teaching regarding free will and living your life by the way god intends you to live. I feel that people have free will that can be seen in freedom of choice a person has in the decisions they make day today. I also feel that people are not judge by the choices or mistakes a person made, makes them good. It is the choices we make today right now that determines how good a person is. The next question I had was introduce to me by a friend in high school. He said to me I hate when someone says keep it real. People who say this have no idea what real is. To me real is something a person sees, experience, or feels. This is all surrounded by a person instinct, without even thinking a person sees a flower. By observation he already knows with out thinking that it is real and its soft. This is because he experiences this. The next part off my paper is regarding to Epistemology. When I was in high school I was rebellious. I did not care to learn anything from no teacher. I never turned in my homework, studied, and I never tried to put in any effort in my test. One day my math teacher gave us our final test for that semester. I decided to try, I was the first to turn in my test and I all so had the highest grade in my class. He assumed I cheated, so he made me stay after class and re take the test. The result where the same, even though I did not study or do any of the assignments.
How did I do this, to me the answer was simple. My mother is a math teacher she also has her PHD in computer technology. She taught me at young age how to do arithmetic, geometry, and algebra. She taught me the importance in gaining the mathematical knowledge. How any thing is known, it is pass down from a person to another person at a young age. The basis of knowledge is gained by experience and repeating what you learned over and over. For example my mother taught me math at a young age, passing down her knowledge down to me, helped me gain the experience I needed to succeed in math. The limit of human understanding is determined to by how much a human is willing to understand. Knowledge has some universal truth, every one I have know who has learned something they feel passionate about has been passed down from a parent or a mentor. Ethics are codes or a life lesson a person lives by to help them understands to help be a better person. This is questions had growing up to help me figure out, what is wrong and what is right. It was 2001, when I was high school people all had a whole bunch of mix feelings towards people from the middle because of 911. It was couple days the attack on the towers I was in class and there was girl who everybody knew she was Muslim. So a couple of guys decide to take actions in there own hands and decided to attack her after class. They knock her books out of her hands and tried to rip off her veil. I stood up for her when no one else would. I told them if they touch Ill make sure they will never touch another girl ever again, because of my rep in school they where scared of me so, they left her alone. I was so disgusted to be apart of this school and to be an American.
I am African American so I know what our history in this country has not been good one. So, I feel like the right thing to do stand up for people who cant stand up for themselves and no matter what race color or ethnic heritage you should treat everyone the way you want to be treated. This is what it means to do the right thing and to be good person. I am not a person who wants to be recognize for what I do so, this to me also defines what make a good person to not wanting to be celebrate for his deeds. Virtue dose make people something happy. When someone dose something good it makes some one feels good about them selves For example I felt good for what I did, as if my ancestors where looking down on me smiling from the havens for what I did. If I had to do it I would do it all over again. I think our society affects our morals in how we conduct ourselves every day. When we go out and see so much evil in this world I think a person feels like an ant to a boot. They want to make a change but they feel like what’s the point, things our going to be way they are. The truth is it dose matter when one person makes a chance for the better its like a ripple effect, it affects everyone. The next part of my paper is going to be surrounded by Aesthetics. When I am asked the question what is beautiful, I think about the first time I had a crush. I was in high school and it was my first day when I saw her. She was so perfect to me that even her imperfections where perfect. Just like the old saying beauty is in the eyes of the beholder I agree with this. To me I felt like she was perfect but to many of my friends she was average. I am an artist so I express my self in an artistic way, the purpose of art is show the beauty of the imperfections. When I think of what makes a best kind of government I feel like the democracy is the best form of government. An example that backs my argument is the past election, people are given the power to elect the president. People are also given the right to vote to pass the laws, like in Georgia we were given the choice to allow the selling of alcohol on Sundays. By giving the people these right to vote gives people a voice in the government.
I feel like the government should have significant power. I also so believe the people in power should be a person of among people. I say this because only a person who experience what is going on in nation, has a clear idea what should be done in the nation to make things run smoother. I feel like the common citizen should be involved in all voting that goes on so, they can see how much an effect they have on there government.
The next portion of my paper will retain to Social philosophy. People should be aware in how they behave towards other safety. I look at the time when I was down town in Atlanta Georgia during the labor protest that was happing in the country. People where so upset they where throwing rocks at police, fighting each other, and destroying property. I t was total chaos, I fear for my safety. People who were their just passing thru where being harass and injured by the police and protester. I am not against no one who wants to stand up for what they believe in. Just take in for the account of your actions because, they affect others.
I feel like most of those people would not act like that if they by themselves than being in the crowd. When I finally got home, I turned on the news. I saw the same people who were acting out, were on the news saying they felt like the protest went to far. I was amazed that people I saw acting out in a group where being sibyl on the television. When we live in these societies we give up some rights for the good of the people. That was not the case that day. I think the anger of the people where so strong the neglected the safety of others. In society anywhere you go has a way of communication. I live in Ohio most of my life so, I was use to a way a person speaks, when I move to the south I was lost in translation. It took me a good six months to adjust to terms and the different meaning of things. It was easy for me up north because I raised in the way people communicated up there. It naturally made sense to me when I moved down here I had to adapt.
