...Based on the 12 researches in May 2014, studies establish that sugar increases the blood pressure of individual. Softdrinks, being the alternative water for most of the people, are considered as the largest source of added sugar. It easily produces the name "liquid candy", because it comprises an average of 10 teaspoons of sugar per can. And drinking liquid candy can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease and particularly high blood pressure. In the study of Lustig, he found out that, 88 studies support the significant effect of softdrinks in obesity. To provide evidence, studies limiting the consumption of softdrinks in kids were conducted and it shows that obesity decreases. However, sugar industry researches clarify that softdrinks do not cause obesity. Researchers may not distinguish what causes the hypertension, but they do conclude, "On the basis of these studies, there is a suggestion that intake of greater than one serving of sugar-sweetened beverage per day is associated with higher risk of hypertension." On the other hand, Dr. Carolyn Dean had a diverse clarification or theory. If Lustig talks about the energy used by the liver to metabolize fructose compared with sucrose, she pointed out the magnesium. She said that "Smooth muscle cells provide integrity and control the dilation of the arterial cavity, triggered by the calcium/magnesium ratio in the body. Calcium causes contraction and magnesium causes relaxation, which together control the blood pressure...

He entered Glasgow University at the early age of fourteen. He studied logic, metaphysics, math and later Newtonian physics and moral philosophy under some of the leading scholars of his day. He is famous for his theory that nations achieve their wealth and function best where individuals are free to use their skills and capital in their own self-interest, at their own good judgment and risk. But isn’t that the same as entrepreneurship? In today’s capitalism society each individual is seeking prosperity by risking his or her own capital to gain self-interest. The availability of such option for individuals is what Smith calls freedom. Is that why Smith is also known as ‘the father of capitalism’? Smith taught that prices and wages will automatically reach optimal levels when such freedom is permitted. For instance, jobs that require special training will result in fewer people making that investment and, therefore, ultimate higher wages. This explains why engineers make more money than...

...The group I was selected to work with from the group case study was quite awesome. When we came together from the beginning, I was very pleased. Everyone entered the first meet and greet eager to work together. Everyone came with some outstanding ideas. First as it relates to leadership my observation was, almost everyone had leadership qualities. We never selected a leader. Then again how many true leaders are ever selected? Although we never selected one specific person; I would have to say that everyone navigated to Carlos and myself. The two of us I believed were able to help the group analyze the entire scenario. We strategically gave scenarios that would allow the group the opportunity to visualize each and every entity of the skit. We needed to see what the interviewer and candidates would say and do. We had to figure out how the candidate’s would interact without becoming envious of one another. Next, the team efforts; everyone put in the same amount of time. Two of the team members took the roles of writing out the skit to ensure that everyone would be able to follow. Each member allow everyone to express to express their ideas and concerns. The team made it very comfortable for each member to give feedback and input to each person ideas and suggestions. Each member selected which part they were going to play/act out in the skit. I believe that our personalities went perfectly with each individual. The planning process was great. The first of the planning process...

...Using randomized assignment for participants of a group comparison research study helps eliminate potential selection biases and allows for equal opportunity to either receive or not receive the intervention. When a study consists of a control and placebo group, it allows for the researcher to observe specific effects of a treatment or intervention (Beck, Andrasik, Arena, 1984). However, there are risks when implementing a placebo manipulation. For example, it can increase or even cause cultural mistrust between the client and researchers. This may lower or eliminate help seeking behaviors all together by diminishing their expectancy for change when placed in a placebo group of a study especially when there is an established discrepancy between mental health providers and a specific ethnic group. This in...

The hierarchical society of a company or even a district is in light of the disposition and estimations of the representatives. As the district of Hilton developed in populace and size its administration group was compelled to change from a city concentrated on foundation to a city occupied with social administrations. City representatives confronted a shift in authoritative society. ...Case Study – The Virgin Group: Structure, leadership and motivation This essay analyses organizational structuring of the Virgin Group, with a view to understanding the dynamics that have helped create a global conglomerate. A critical assessment is undertaken on three areas: the hierarchical form of the company, the style of leadership exhibited by Sir Richard Branson, and the approach adopted by management to motivate employees. Firstly, a comparative argument is made on whether the Virgin Group can be classified as a centralised or decentralised organization. These terms refer to division of power, capital, technical procedures and control in various units of a business. A centralised organization allows for minimal delegation to managers, with the chief executive retaining power over majority of the decisions. On the other end, a decentralised organization makes it possible for managers to exercise control without ownership oversight at each stage, provided goals and targets are met (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2007). Secondly, the essay aims to determine the leadership style practiced by Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Group’s chief executive officer (CEO). Two styles of leadership are used as reference point: transactional and transformational. According to Bass & Bass (2009), transactional leaders work within the organizational culture as it exists, with an awareness of the link between effort and reward. They motivate their employees by setting goals, and enforce control through...

...DAG Group Case Study Chris and Val are MBA students recently graduated. Upon consideration of the dry cleaning industry they realised an opportunity within the market as ‘an industry that is fragmented, undifferentiated, has low entry barriers, and is something that people use all the time’. They had a vision to create the DAG group ‘superstores of dry-cleaning’ and offer quality efficient service and consistency in an otherwise deteriorating industry that had become a price war battle between stores to gain customers. Lack of funds kicked back into poorly presented stores, unhappy employees, bad service, low customer retention rate and poorly maintained equipment. Due to the lack of substitution in the market and high demand for its convenience, especially by working population who have an 80% share of the customer base and revenues, the industry is still worth a cool 4 Billion. There has been zero innovation in the industry in regard to technology, supplies and process. The solvents used and consequent hazardous waste emissions produced by dry cleaning is expensive to dispose of and also currently faces possible future regulation changes in its disposal methods. Should this occur, it will require additional investment that majority of the 95% proprietary owned stores are not willing to pay due to the decline in recent business. Dry cleaners suppliers are few and the possibility to source from alternative suppliers possibly abroad is not explored due to lack of motivation...
