Great holidays Great holidays Kalends – March 1 Originally this was the day to re-kindle the perpetual fire representing the life of Rome at the Temple of the Vestals. Fresh laurels were hung on public buildings. At the same time it was festival to Mars with dances of the priestly college (Salii) continuing for nineteen days. The dancers held sacred shields during the ceremony and dined out at a different house each night. These multiple festivals to Mars make sense not just because the month, Martius, was named for him, but also because this was the time of year when the soldiers were called up for the year's campaigns. ...Abigail didn’t show this trait as much as the others. This trait is probably one of the most dangerous and combine with remorselessness then death is near. She didn't actually fight anyone, but she often uses threats and the theocracy system to remove those she didn't like or a scapegoat. In the text, it states “I will bring a pointy reckoning That will shudder you”(Miller, page 19). Abigail tried to put fear towards the other girls that watch or participate the event. The fact that the girls follow Abigail of fear shows that she really is spiteful. The fact that she wants Elizabeth dead and show no regret of accusing her along with the others she shows willingness to take a life for selfish needs. She left Salem without any punishment. This trait is similar to one of the seven deadly sins called wrath. The one character that is the most responsible for the deaths in Salem would be Abigail. Throughout the book, these three traits contribute her to make decisions that would not only make the situation worse, it also cost innocent people their lives. She express these emotions ever since she had a taste a power and draw lots of attention. The youth often crave these emotions very deeply since Puritan society often put women after men in religon, goverment, and public...

...going to be focusing on the Input-Output analysis, a type of analysis created for the purpose of describing and making predictions of complicated mathematical models using systems of linear equations. It was established by “W. Leontief, who won the 1973 Nobel Prize in Economics” (Hefferon, p.60). In this paper, mathematical and linear algebra formulas, calculations, graphs, diagrams, pictures, etc., will be clearly shown as to further understand the applicability of linear algebra in economics. Calculations and mathematical examples used in economics will be provided in the context of this paper for better understanding. Also, terms and notations used will be explained, derivation and origin of mathematical results will be shown. Definitions: Economics is a branch of knowledge concerned with the production, distributions, and consumption of goods and services. Linear algebra is a branch of mathematics with the properties of finite dimensional vector spaces and linear mapping between the spaces. The equations are represented using matrices and vectors and consist of several unknowns. Econometrics is branch of economics that aims to give the definitions of application of mathematics and statistical methods to economic data. Game theory is a method of studying strategic decision-making, that is, the study of mathematical models of conflict and cooperation between decision makers (Levine). Numerous Goverment study's prove that private firms can run prisons better and with greater quality than a typical state run prison, and when you really think about it isn't the good care of inmates the only real responsibility of a...

Start from country, ask people to give same sex couples a different sexual orientation and basic respect. And also, give same-sex couples the same rights with heterosexual people. With this same right and equal treatment. People will be more willing to perform their social obligation. ...change the social structure of Japan, it converted to a feudal system like the European social and political structure. However, its governance was characterized by warrior bureaucracy . The shogun was the head of state of feudal Japan. Most of the decision making and control was command by Tokugawa, however, the emperor was still the absolute leader over Japan and it was always necessary to advise the emperor of any decision; the emperor wasn’t very much active in the shogun’s governance, which it made the emperor’s orders not important within Tokugawa’s system. Daimyos were territorial lords, they oversaw taxation, control, order and discipline of their lands and its citizens. Below the Daimyos, we have:“4 systems ‘which are the samurai (also known as Bushi – hereditary soldiers ) peasants, craftsmen and merchants. Samurai were the military. ...Criminal Justice System Wendell Wrice English 122 English Composition II Prof. Deborah Zeringue October 7, 2013 For many Americans the scales of justice is blind. It stands as a symbol that everyone is treated fairly in the eyes of the law. Many Americans, especially minorities this is simply not the case. In fact the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the entire world-five times the world’s average. A total of 2,380,000 are now in prison. The US has five percent of the world’s population, but 25 percent of the world’s prison population (Fisher, 2010).In fact minorities make up a large share of the prison population in the U.S. African Americans have a 32 percent chance of serving time in prison at some point of time in their lives, Hispanic males have a 17 percent chance, while white males a 6 percent chance (Fisher, 2010) . Such disproportions of incarceration rates gives reason to believe that minorities, especially African Americans commit the majority of crimes requiring incarceration or the fact that our justice system is flawed to the point where it singles out a specific racial or ethnic group. The question of why there are so many minorities especially African Americans being held in our criminal justice system leads one to question...

...The motorist contributes to the revenue of South African (SA) by paying the following fees and taxes, annual motor licence fees, CO2 emission tax, the fuel levy (fuel tax) and toll fees when using various roads in the country. Revenue from fines are also payable when motorists are guilty of contravening the National Traffic Regulations e.g. exceeding the legal speed limit on public or national roads and carrying loads exceeding the legal carrying capacity of a vehicle. Revenue from motor vehicle licence fees A Motor vehicle licence fee is payable annually. The cost is determined by the category of the vehicle. This ranges from motorcycles to heavy passenger and goods vehicles. The category of a vehicle is based on the number of axles, and their load carry capacity. The National Road Traffic Act (NRTA) defines the category of vehicle, (Ministry of Transport, 1996). Funds generated from licence fees form a direct revenue stream to the National Treasury. This contributes to the gross annual income of the country. According to the Road Traffic Monitoring Corporation (RTMC), as of December 2010, there are 9 829 400 registered vehicles on the South Africa roads. This increase by 2,52 per cent from December 2009, with significant contributions of increase in the motorcar and bus categories and a notably decrease in the number of motorcycles. The highest per cent of motor vehicles are in Gauteng and Western Cape Province respectively. Attached are the data table and graph illustrating...

...WEEK 8 ASSIGNMENT Interest Groups Professor Karina Arzumanova U.S. Goverment An Interests Group is defined as an organization of people or a letterhead organization, sharing a common interest or goal that seeks to influence the making of public policy. In the American political system, there are a wide variety of interest groups that are organized for the sole purpose of exerting influence on the political and legal systems. These groups play a central role in deciding who gets what, when, where and how in legislative and budget processes. They also play a significant role in deciding which values will be promoted and enforced by the government. When individuals have common interests, it often makes sense for them to join together in pursuit of those interests. When this happens, a special interest group is formed. These groups then compete for a share of the limited resources distributed through the political process. While many groups are formed to compete for economic resources, others are formed to support their positions on issues like abortion and gun control. The limited resource these groups compete for is not money or real estate but rather the use of governmental power to enforce a particular set of values. At the group level, it makes sense for groups to form and do the things they do. However, at the individual level, there are powerful incentives to be a free rider. If a group is pursuing your interests even though you, as an individual, are...
