Capratek Training Program Design

...Currently our company’s objective is to open the plant in Illinois and train our supervising staff accordingly. One major obstacle to this is the mandatory regulation of sexual harassment training by the state. Our supervisor must know what is legally required of them and what we expect from them. Our expectation is that they are able to fully understand what is sexual harassment, what are the signs of it, who to prevent it and most importantly how to handle cases of it. Based of my evaluation of the interviews I conducted, all supervisors know what sexual harassment is but are not comfortable training their teams. Based on this I would evaluate the supervisors skills as a leader only hindered by their lack of knowledge and comfortably with the subject. It is for this reason we have adopted to use Costal Training...

...person that can handle the situation better than I can. When I am with my family I mainly use the same strengths but, problem solving comes up most of time due to daily challenges in life. My weaknesses make me a bad student, because when I get overwhelmed I tend to stop working and just drop everything and I focus on something that is completely irrelevant to what is being discussed. Even worse is when I’m out of focus and I’m trying to get back in the lecture, I will start asking around on where we are to be caught up with the subject. My biggest challenge is time management although I do not have a job, I do spend a lot more time doing house projects which does not have a deadline instead of working on my homework which I do either the day before or the day when the assignment is due. For me to become a better student, I need to manage my time better and build a schedule for me to follow and keep myself on track, make a copy of the schedule and post it for everyone in my household to see and...

Contrast Analysis

...Introduction The focus of the present thesis is the passive voice, perceived from a semantico-syntactic point of view. My primary aim is to explore the use and functions of the passive voice in English, examining the reasons which motivate an author to prefer the passive form to the active one. Secondary interest is devoted to the function and the use of the passive voice in Czech. As research material I have chosen the short stories by the American writer O. Henry and their Czech translations by Stanislav Klíma. The reasons why I have chosen the genre of a short story are that it is noted for the unity of time, place and action. I believe that due to this fact, the results of my research will give higher evidence of the use of the passive voice since the basis for comparison is unified and compact contrary to, for example, a novel. For the same reason of evidence, I explore just the translations of one translator, since everyone has his/her personal style and different way of thinking and understanding of original text. I am interested in the issue of information packaging, especially in the different ways of expressing one and the same reality in the two languages: when both active and passive versions are formally permitted, what factors favour the choice of one over other? The passive voice is a phenomenon which is involved both in English and in Czech but in unlike extent. As far as I know, the passive voice is a favourite means of expression in English whereas in Czech...

Slumdog Cometh

...movie „Slumdog Millionair‟ in the context of Althuser‟s observations on the subject of ideology. We shall, in the course of this paper, point to the case of interpellation in the movie and also demonstrate how the movie furthers an already existing ideology. Althuser‟s theory of ISA (ideological state apparatus) and RSA (repressive state apparatus) are only too well known. They have been one among the many theories of realistic appraisals of the society and an extension of Althuser's study of Ideology. These theories must be touched upon briefly before we move to place the Hollywood blockbuster in their perspective. Ideology is a very specific term used in the post-Marxist theories, such as Christian ideology, democratic ideology, feminist ideology, Marxist ideology, etc. Luis Althusser (1977) shows that there are two major mechanisms of State organization for ensuring the people of the State. The first is the RSA, or Repressive State Apparatuses that can enforce the public behaviour directly, like police, the criminal justice and prison system. The ISAs are some kind of institutions, which manufacture ideologies like schools, literary studies, religions, the family, legal systems, politics, arts, sports, etc help people to build up ideas and values, and to believe the State as such is „eternal‟. In discussing the concept of Ideology as material existence, Althuser takes the notion of „subject‟ as his central term „upon which everything depends‟. His arguments that there...

Consumer Behaviour

...Interpretation of the Self Concept in a consumer The Social Homebird This subject is a 21 year old female living in Cork. She is studying nutritional science in UCC. From the analysis of the interview conducted with her we have hopefully gained some insight into her self concept. Almost immediately in the interview it becomes apparent that she has a close connection with her family. When asked how long she has been baking for she tells us that she’s been baking “forever, my Mam and I used to spend all weekend baking together when I was younger”. To even further the point that family is of great importance to her she says that one of the things she would do if she won the lotto was go and spend time in Thailand with her family who were over there visiting her sister. “I think I would go to Thailand, I’ve been there before, it’s a beautiful country and because my sister just moved out there and it would be nice to see her. Plus my parents, my brother, his wife and child are just gone out to visit her for three weeks so it would be a lot of fun”. She further cements the importance of family by saying that if she had won the lotto she would donate some of the money to charity, rather than buying designer bags. The reason for the donation to the respective charities is because someone in her family had suffered from an illness the charities support “If I could spread it out I would but if not maybe to Alzheimer’s research or cancer research. I’ve had people that were affected by...
