INDIA’S NEW CONSTITUTIONALISM: TWO CASES THAT HAVE RESHAPED INDIAN LAW Milan Dalal* Abstract: As a nation of over one billion people and the world’s largest democracy, India is sometimes confronted with situations in which its democratic institutions clash. Under the Indian Constitution, legislation concerning land reform is placed in a special category designed to immunize it from judicial scrutiny. This scheme, known as the Ninth Schedule, has been abused by legislators seeking electoral benefit. Simultaneously, the country has been rocked by a series of public corruption scandals. In addition to personal computers and consumer video and audio products, the company offered large and small appliances, ranging from refrigerators to coffeemakers, and entertainment software, including compact discs, audio and video cassettes, and computer software Although the company had overtaken archrival Circuit City in the late 1990s to become the largest consumer electronics retailer in the United States, its victory was marginal and the price reductions needed to capture market share had hurt Best Buy’s profit margins(International Directory of Company Histories 1988) Best Buy’s corporate culture began when Schulze had come to realize that there wasn’t much of a future in a market glutted with vendors, serving a shrinking audience of 15- to 18-year-olds with limited resources.” His first step was to expand Sound of Music’s offerings to include appliances and VCRs. Schulze saw sales quickly climb. In 1982 revenues reached $9.3 million; the following year the company renamed itself Best Buy and firmly oriented itself toward an older, broader, and more affluent customer base. Then, in 1984, Schulze took another major step by introducing the superstore...

Using the sample data given in Exhibit 10, make a recommendation for how many units of each style Wally Obermeyer should order during the initial phase of production. ...The Theory of Poker By David Sklansky A product of Two Plus Two Publishing SIXTH PRINTING October 2004 1 About David Sklansky David Sklansky is generally considered the number one authority on gambling in the world today. Besides his nine books on the subject, David also has produced two videos and numerous writings for various gaming publications. His occasional poker seminars always receive an enthusiastic reception including those given at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City and the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. More recently David has been doing consulting work for casinos, Internet gaming sites, and gaming device companies. He has recently invented a new game called Poker Challenge, soon to appear in casinos. David attributes his standing in the gambling community to three things: 1. The fact that he presents his ideas as simply as possible (sometimes with Mason Malmuth) even though these ideas frequently involve concepts that are deep, subtle, and not to be found elsewhere. 2. The fact that what he says and writes can be counted on to be accurate. 3. The fact that to this day a large portion of his income is still derived from gambling (usually poker but occasionally blackjack, sports betting, horses, video games, casino promotions, or casino tournaments). Thus, those who depend on David's advice know that he still depends on it himself. ...machine may offer the closest thing ever invented to perpetual motion, because the more you use the card, the more data it produces. The machine takes your bytes, combines them with transactions by millions of other cardholdersand before long, it can pinpoint what youre likely to buy next, whether youll respond to a pitch for long-distance telephone service, and how likely you are to sign up for Internet banking. Fairbank, MBA 81, built that data machineand revolutionized the credit industry. Before Fairbank, all credit cards cost the same: 19.8% annual percentage rate, $20 fee. Before Fairbank, no one had ever heard of teaser rates, superprime cards charging just 9.9% interest, or credit cards printed with your kids pictures. Since Fairbankto be precise, since October 1991 when he rolled out the first cards to break the plastic price people didnt really have a new offer, Fairbank says. Thousands of accounts were upgraded or closed at randomand the company gathered data on who left, who stayed, and how they behaved. Now, when a card-hopper calls, computers can calculate the odds that this particular customer actually does have a better offerand the lifetime profits that would be lost if she leaves. Within hundredths of a second, the operator gets a script spelling out the precise terms he can offeror orders to bid the card-hopper a cheery farewell. In Capital Ones lexicon, that experiment was a scientific test. While it involved thousands of accounts, it was...

...Cognitive psychology is defined as the study of mental processes. Mental processes can be classified as problem solving, thinking, remembering, speaking, perceiving, learning, and even reasoning. Cognitive psychology is mainly based on studying how a person obtains and stores information from the world that they live in. It also studies the way that people use this information as a beneficial factor or how they understand things. Cognitive psychology was said to get its original rise as a response from other approaches that had been proved to have flaws. There was also a link between the studies of the mind that eventually lead to the study of behavior. Since behaviorism had some minor flaws, the development of cognitive psychology occurred because of the disagreements of behaviorism. There are many different key milestones in the development of our own cognitive psychology. Neuroscience, information processing, criticisms of behaviorism, and connectionism are 4 of these milestones. All four are associated with different aspects of the mind. The milestone neuroscience, is said to examine how the nervous system and the brain work together to determine behaviors. People who specialize in this field are referred to as neuroscientists. They are able to account for various behaviors such as intelligent behavior through the tactics of hypothetical representations, abstract constructs, and processes. Neuroscientists are able to use techniques of localization in identifying brain areas...

...Felicia Marshall PSYC4110 Journal Submission 2 Capella University August, 2015 Description – Section 4 #1 (Compassionate Love Scale) I feel the assessment gave me adequate and accurate information on my tendency to compassionate. It asked me very personal questions to make me look deep within myself to ask myself if I really feel a certain kind of way about people. I did not find anything surprising with the assessment. It actually affirmed what I thought I felt about people. I wasn’t looking for any magical answer or scoring that’s too out of the way. It was meaningful to me in the sense that I was able to continue to be honest about my answers, and in the end I was able to come up with the result that I expected. This activity was not uncomfortable for me to complete, because I love assessments that truly ask the deep questions to challenge me. I respect the answers, because they are very true, and if there is something I need to change, then I can do so. I learned that my reality is real. I used to have a different feeling about compassion and mankind when I was younger, because in my eyes man could not do any wrong. I honestly feel differently towards strangers today, as the world is not what it was when I was a child. I find that I still have compassion there, however it has been altered over the past decade of my life. I can take my results and evaluate how I treat people with compassion. I am usually able to sympathize/empathize...

...It is the innate desire of every being to maintain balance within one’s life. Among other elements which need to be maintained, the foremost is the balance between professional and social skills. It is this balance which renews our human experiences and paves our way to success. This balance is achieved through networking; professional and social. Like all career paths in engineering practice this stability is vital as it equips us with the skills necessary for interaction with others. Thus the social and professional networking is highly invaluable to engineering as together they provide a balance ultimately leading to success in the field. By definition networking simply means connecting with people or operating with a network. Engineering at its core is about networking as it requires you to cooperate and work with other people within a team structure. To be successful in engineering one not only needs the social skills to connect with people but also the professional opportunities whereby one can apply those skills. Thus, the social and professional networks work in harmony providing balance in an individual’s life paving way to success. Professional networking in a broad definition provides professional development. In an article in Harvard Business Review, Ibarra, INSEAD Professor and Hunter an investigative journalist, describes networks of being three kinds . One is operational Network which is ‘to build good working relationships with the people who can help...
