Personl Responsibility Rough Draft

...Personal Responsibility William H. Hill Jr. GEN/200 31 January, 2012 Sherell Ellis I believe that personal responsibility is to be accountable for one’s actions and an individual obligation to personal success. College diplomas are not given to teams. These special certificates are presented as an acknowledgement of individual accomplishment and a testament to a student’s hard work, personal dedication and commitment in achieving academic success. In an educational environment a person can and should give credit to those who have provided them with instruction and by imparting some of their wisdom upon them. However, once someone has been provided with the tools and resources to assist them along the way, ultimately it is up to the individual on how to use those tools correctly. Instructors only have a limited amount of time during which they can provide direction, guidance, and encouragement. After that, students on their own to control the amount of time and effort that is necessary to be successful in reaching their personal educational goals. Once out of the classroom, a student must take upon themself to manage their time wisely and to make the correct decision of how much effort you should personally dedicate to their studies. Although a group of people can perform as a team in order to reach a common goal, and the pooled resources of a group increase the probabilities...

Stages of Change

...health care manager who wants to encourage efficiency and the highest standards of service? A stage of Change Model as proposed by Prochaska and Colleagues for addictive behaviors consists of six dynamic stages. The six stages are: Precontemplation, Contemplation, preparation, action maintenance, and termination. Precontemplation is when an individual is not considering making any changes. Contemplation is the time when an individual is aware there is a problem and is considering taking action to resolve it. Preparation refers to the time when an individual commits to taking action sometime within the next 30 days. Action is the busiest time. There are noticeable efforts to change the targeted behavior. Maintenance is the stage when a person tries to stabilize the behavior change and prevent relapse. Termination is the final stage, this occurs when there is zero temptation to revert back to the old behavior. Healthcare administrators can utilize the Prochaska Stages of Change model to assists themselves in developing procedures to support patients or subordinates who will benefit from behavior modification. It is true tha the greatest asset of any successful company is the combined intelligence of the workforce working for it. A company never hires an individual just because there is a vacancy place that needs to be filled, or the applier is highly experienced and intelligent. The fact is that the company hires an employee to who its see as a navigator, who will follow to the path of success. Life Support

...Quinlan Case, Barber v. Supreme Court Case, Cruzan Case, Gilgunn Case --Protected under the 14th amendment Autonomy- determining moral responsibility for one's actions Some people think that a patient’s death should be in the hands of the physician, if their condition isn’t consistent or advancing. A will is something that people use to make sure their desires are met if they are unable to make the decision by themselves. The idea of keeping a will was widespread in the 1990’s, the number of people that say they have a living will more than doubled from 12% in 1990 to 29% now (Peoplepress 1). But what about the other 71% of American’s? An accident can happen to anybody and if you aren’t able to make decision’s for yourself who is the person who will be making those decision’s for you. The regulations on the subject in the United States is that the patient or surrogate must be informed on the subject and can consent to or refuse all treatments given to them (Atsjournals 1). Life support would fall under this law in the case of someone not getting better, they could be taken off of life support with the allowance of a delegate of the patient. Some people think this shouldn’t be allowed and it should be in the hands of the patients doctor. Personally, I think that the decision should be made by the family member’s, although, I feel that the doctor should be the one to bring it up to...

Television over Paper

...Television over Paper There will always be news wherever you go. When you witness a certain event, the chances of you seeing a person or a group of persons reporting about that event will be high. Even the simple sharing of information around your friends is broadcasting news. There are many persons, groups, institutions, and media groups writing and reporting news; you can see them in television, newspapers, or even live from the event. In our society of today, you will observe many persons acquiring news on Television channels, and less people reading newspapers having almost 20 pages back to back. Both may have the same content, but many still choose television over newspapers. Filipinos resort to Television News over Newspapers because of Simple Literacy Status, Presentation, and the society we have now. Filipinos resort to TV news because a large percentage of Filipinos are only categorized as simple literate. Yoshinos New Civil Rights: Possible?

...Just Listen Open your ears and close your mouth. That is the golden idea. Everyone has the right to openly voice his or her opinion and thoughts but sometimes that is not what the world needs. Sometimes in order to achieve global change, stepping back, looking through all the bullshit and absorbing other cultures, ideas, and opinions is the best thing. Look through each persons culture, religion, and political position and just focus on his or her human right; the rights that each person in the world is born with regardless of his or her background. Perceiving individuals as humans who deserve rights that protect them from persecution and judgment is the only way to achieve the evolution of the “new” civil rights. Although majority of people believe it is impossible for every individual in the world to be equal the truth is that that is the only way the “new” civil rights are going to evolve because in order to achieve this everyone needs to drop the covers they put up and just listen. Achieving the evolution of the “new” civil rights is a mutual responsibility and in order to do so finding common ground is essential. In this mutual responsibility, it is society’s job to ensure that lawmakers realize the problems and then demand change. “The real solution lies in all of us citizens, not in the tiny subset of us who are lawyers.” (Yoshino 487) Lawmakers are there for society and unless society voices a concern or demand for these “new” civil rights nothing is going to happen...

Personal Responsibility

...that an important personal trait to have is organization. I believe with proper organization you can achieve personal responsibility which helps you achieve success. I define personal responsibility as having integrity, accepting consequences and the effects that an individual’s actions have on others. To me integrity has three characteristics: being honest, having values or morals, and being self-aware. I believe it is a conscious decision to admit ones mistakes by telling the truth whether or not someone is watching me. Values are used to create an individual’s moral compass telling me what is right or wrong. I feel that many values a person has is often constructed by a person’s culture as well as the individuals that raised them; I believe that a person always has the choice to reevaluate and change their morals as they choose. For a person to have self-awareness I consider if the individual is not only reliable and trustworthy but also possesses humility and are humble instead of a sense of indulgent pride. Another trait of personal responsibility is accepting consequences. I consider accepting consequences as having the courage to face the fear of what may happen because of a person’s poor choices or mistakes. I also feel that to effectively do this is to accept with grace and not contempt, and to be part of solution to the problems caused. To ensure personal responsibility an individual must understand the effects their choices or mistakes have on others. The effects not...

From the same dictionary, the word personal is defined as: “Affecting one individual; not public or general.” (“Personal,” n.d).
