In August of 2011, the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis had a concert that unfortunately five people were killed and fifty-eight were injured due to the stage collapsing (Durso Jr., 2012). The state fair was hosting a concert and the special guest was Sugarland. The concert was due to start around 8 p.m. (Durso Jr., 2012). The concert was held on about 250 acres of land, the temporary stage area was about 107 feet long, 57 feet wide and 56 feet high. Over the stage, there were suspended spotlights as well as other sound and lighting equipment (Durso Jr., 2012).
