Mr.Polanis DBQ Accuracy of Political Beliefs The two main parties during the early 1800s included the Federalists and the Jeffersonian Republicans. The difference between the two parties was their choice of how the constitution should be interpreted. The Federalists followed a “loose” interpretation of the constitution, while the Jeffersonians followed a “strict” interpretation of the constitution. The Federalists and Jeffersonians each had their own interpretation of the constitution but were not always adamant in following it.
