Narrative Report Summary

On-the-job training is one of the best training methods because it is planned, organized, conducted at the employee’s worksite. OJT will generally help me as a student to increase my productivity and skills. It also helps me to become a young professional. This is one method by which students is given a chance to apply what they have learned in school. It also helps us to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Our College require undergoing such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. Dec. 8, 2014 when I started my OJT and it’s been more than 600 hours I spend inside the On the Job Training in the MCSB Shipping and Cargo Movers Services in MBI Building Plaza Santa Cruz, Manila, specifically in Operation and Office works. I always came to office at around 7:30 am. Yes, 30 minutes earlier than the usual office time. I logged in early and cleaned the office for not more than 10 minutes every day. I organized and sorted out their files, photocopy, and printed out important documents, encode multiple files answering phone calls, and assist the trainees. I really enjoyed my on-the-job training. I learned the basic office works, the operation of common office equipment and facilities, the standard office rules and procedures and most of all the pleasant officers-employees relationships. Even if it’s not a real job that has a monthly salary, I really appreciated the effort that they accepted me and considered me as their co-employee. There are lots of things that I can say that I will never forget, from the day I walk in the building and going to pier 4 and 6 to the time I walked out of the building. I met people who I enjoyed being with through their jokes, trips and even their smiles. What I learned in my workplace is being hard working, even though it’s tiring. And keeping a

Critical Evaluation of the Representation of Speech and Thought in Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never and Kanye West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing.

...compensate the shortcomings of their essay with the improvements – in my view – made in Rimmon-Kenan’s essay. Also, since Rimmon-Kenan’s essay ‘Narration: speech representation’ does not include an account of thought representation, I will convert his distinctions of speech representation. Thus “diegetic summary” (DS) will be “diegetic thought summary” (DTS); “Summary, less ‘purely’ diegetic” will be “Thought Summary, purely diegetic” (TS); “Indirect content paraphrase”(ICP) will be “Indirect thought content paraphrase” (ITC); “Indirect discourse, mimetic to some degree”(ID) will be “ Indirect thought, mimetic to some degree” (IT): “Free indirect discourse” (FID) will be “Free indirect thought” (FIT); “Direct discourse” (DD) will Be “Direct thought” (DT) and “Free direct discourse”(FDD) will be “Free Direct thought” (FDT). ITC, FIT, DT and FDT correspond with Leech and Short’s distinctions (in definition and symbol, except for ITC which correspond with their IT). I will give examples of DTS, TS and ITS: DTS: The bare report of a thought, without any specification of how the thinker felt or the language the thinker used to think. E.g., ‘He wondered about her love for him’ TS: Summary which represents thought in that it names in greater detail the thought act: E.g., ‘He wondered if she had another lover or if she was capable of love’ IT: Indirect thought which gives the illusion of perceiving aspects of the style of the thought act. E.g., ’He thought she had another bloody lover...

...02-06-1955 3. Melissa Coleman 12-11-70 Mr. Osburn, Dr. Fonn’s attorney for malpractice matters, advised that the Leonard case was settled. It was dismissed with prejudice. The Archambeau case was dismissed on 10-22-2014 without prejudice. It has not yet been refiled. The Coleman case is still pending at this time. I asked Dr. Fonn if he has already responded to the Board regarding these cases. Dr. Fonn advised that he has responded in writing with the medical records and narrative summaries on each case. He offered then to provide me with the narrative summaries on each case. Dr. Fonn further explained that in the Archambeau narrative, he has made a correction. On page 2 of 4, he corrected the date of surgery. The original date was listed as 01-13-2013. It is corrected to 01-13-2012. At the end of the same paragraph, the date originally said, “01-18-2013”. It was corrected to say 01-13-2012. I accepted the narrative summaries. They were certified by his office notary and are Attachment #8 to this report. Mr. Osburn then provided a brief synopsis of the three cases as they all have similar threads. He explained that each of these patients had the same surgery. It was L5-S1 PLIF. This is a fusion surgery of the joint in the lower back at L5-S1. All three patients had subsequent treatment by the same orthopedic surgeon in St. Louis, MO. All three also had the same legal office for plaintiffs that were also in St. Louis, MO. The complaint is that the orthopedic surgeon...

Case #2

...National Components Corporation (NCC) is a recently established manufacturing company that had been growing rapidly. Recently their product development department has found a way to make a composite bearing consisting of two materials which greatly increases the durability of the component and at a lower cost. They continue to sell the original product (“Classic”) to a number of equipment manufacturers and hardware supply chains but in smaller quantities. They have seen a dramatic growth in demand for the new product (“DuraBear”). Two factors have led to the company not employing any formal forecasting techniques. One of these is the sudden change in product mix, the other is the rapid growth has focused their attention on building capacity. The President of the company, Mr. Ralph Wada, has recognized the need for a more formal forecasting process as the company matures. He has expressed an opinion that forecasting should be as simple as possible and yet still meet the needs of the business. Mr. Wada wants to use the start of the new fiscal year (May 1) to initiate a more formal forecasting system. He has decided to focus on the two main bearing products which comprise 90% of their revenue. With no existing expertise in demand forecasting he has turned to a small consulting firm to recommend appropriate forecasting techniques, prepare a forecast for the next four months, and provide advice and training to an identified NCC employee in the Operations organization...

Instruction on Reading a Social Psychology Article

...How to Read a Journal Article in Social Psychology When approaching a journal article for the first time, and often on subsequent occasions, most people try to digest it as they would any piece of prose. They start at the beginning and read word for word, until eventually they arrive at the end, perhaps a little bewildered, but with a vague sense of relief. This is not an altogether terrible strategy; journal articles do have a logical structure that lends itself to this sort of reading. There are, however, more efficient approaches that enable you, a student of social psychology, to cut through peripheral details, avoid sophisticated statistics with which you may not be familiar, and focus on the central ideas in an article. Arming yourself with a little foreknowledge of what is contained in journal articles, as well as some practical advice on how to read them, should help you read journal articles more effectively. If this sounds tempting, read on. Journal articles offer a window into the inner workings of social psychology. They document how social psychologists formulate hypotheses, design empirical studies, analyze the observations they collect, and interpret their results. Journal articles also serve an invaluable archival function: They contain the full store of common and cumulative knowledge of social psychology. Having documentation of past research allows researchers to build on past findings and advance our understanding of social behavior, without pursuing...

Internship

...The Internship Report Rationale ∗ (Eng 498/698) Because the student who does an internship receives credit from the university, graded credit determined by the technical writing faculty, there needs to be documentation in addition to the site supervisor's evaluation as a basis for that graded credit. Submitting an internship report not only provides the faculty with a document which qualifies the student for graded credit, it also provides the faculty with in-depth information about the profession they are responsible for preparing students to participate in. Furthermore, and of considerable importance, the internship report increases the student's responsibility by requiring the student intern to gather information and plan the report throughout the work experience. The student then has an opportunity to demonstrate maturity as a technical writer by presenting, analyzing, and evaluating his or her own work on the job. Report Content and Format The internship report comprises four parts, each involving a different kind of information and a different mode of written discourse: (1) introduction, (2) narrative, (3) analysis and evaluation, and (4) appendix. Introduction The introduction explains the setting where the work was accomplished and gives a sense of how the intern's job related to the entire work of the hiring organization. This section lends itself to the inverted pyramid organization, moving from general information about the entire organization to a specific...
