He experienced the scary, stunning, and intriguing part of living on the island of Alcatraz. One personal connection I had with the book was the fact that I visited Alcatraz about five years ago. During my trip I really had the chance to explore how some people lived their lives behind bars. Walking across the island of Alcatraz was really a fascinating experience for me, because while reading this book I could picture exactly what Moose was describing.
