Lynn Coady, a writer, editor, playwrighter, and journalist, has written many works including short stories and novels. One of her novels, HellGoing consists of many stories with different genres and interpretations. Such as, how judgments, attraction and addiction affect everyone in so many ways. Also, how others judge a person’s body, and how a person wants to look. Size, is something people always worry about, and are judged about, affecting everyone from all ages. People today worry about their size, and are put into categories such as, underweight, average, over weight or obese. These categories not only ruin a person’s confidence, but also allow them to want to change their size, which can affect them emotionally and harm them physically.…show more content… Pat and Hilary to try and get through to Catherine. They think that because she is a nun and is religious, she should understand what Catherine is doing and why she is doing it. She would be able to use her religious knowledge to try and get Catherine to re-think her fast and perhaps eat. However, Sister Anita also thinks what Catherine is doing to herself is wrong and has no religious grounds. When Catherine asks Sister Anita to take communion, Sister Anita is over joyed and thinks it is a huge win. She even goes as far as telling Dr. Pat that maybe they should put peanut butter on the wafer to “beef it up” a little more so that Catherine can get some nutrients in her. She says this jokingly because she knows that Catherine’s devotion has in fact become an addiction, and she is only taking communion for the sake of God. If Catherine wanted to eat then it should be for the sake of actually wanting to eat and ending her addiction. After taking communion and eating something for the first time, Catherine declares that the devil is inside her, simply because her stomach began to make noises. She even convinced the doctor to come listen to the “thing” inside her stomach, and rather then taking authority and telling Catherine that it was just her body trying to digest whatever she had just eaten, and because she hadn’t eaten in so long, its as if her body is in shock, he acts dumbfounded and listen to her stomach with his
