Operation White Powder was conducted on June 13, 2016 to test the Allegan County Health Department (ACHD) Emergency Operations Plan. This exercise allowed the ACHD to evaluate its capabilities relative to conducting Emergency Dispensing Site (EDS) operations in the event of an aerosolized anthrax release. The scenario for this exercise is built upon a terrorist release of aerosolized anthrax. Hospitals in the area record higher than typical cases of upper respiratory and influenza like illnesses. Intelligence information indicates that large gathering events and other special events in Southwest Michigan may be the targets of terrorist activity. Financial Plan(Break Even Analysis) 6. Future Scope and Expansion Plans 7. Summary Business Plan: Dehydrated Onion Powder Sector: Food and Agricultural Sector Introduction Onion is one of the most basic and widely used ingredients in Indian kitchens and hence any changes in its price have a large impact on the household budgets of a large section of the society. The target consumer for onions is not only the high end class but also the street dwellers. Hence the quantity and the price of onions need to be in check to ensure proper fulfilment of the demands of the consumers. Also if the crop is sold below the cost that has been incurred in its production than this causes loss to the producers. Hence we need to find ways to regulate the prices of onions as well as the quantity in markets such that it better serves the requirement of the consumers. The volatility in the prices of such commodities has been one of the major causes of inflation in the past few months. Since there are not many market players in this sector the prices as well as availability of onions in market are decided by a small group of people and hence there is monopoly. Also in some cases there are some transportation and storage issues because of which the crop gets perished. This in turn leads to increase...

Metal Treatment

...endeavors to achieve a level of cleanliness that is 100% free of any organic material and/or oxides. Even a pin-head size of missed surface contamination will often compromise the bond between the coating and substrate. Therefore, prior to plating each work piece is subjected to a variety of detergents and acids with rinse tanks in between. As a result, production plating lines with 25 to30 chemical stations are common prior to the final plating tank where the desired coating is applied. Even with today’s advanced process control systems, the potential for a bond failure remains a constant concern for both the metal finishing house and the ultimate end user; as bond failures often lead to catastrophic failure of the work piece in downstream operations or in actual use. The B4C process protocol, by comparison, calls for washing the work piece with a mild solvent, alcohol, or soap and water to removed gross surface contaminates such as...

Business Operation Research

...1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 2. INTRODUCTION AND BUSINESS DESCRIPTION 2.1 INTRODUCTION Fast food restaurant, also known as a quick service restaurant (QSR) within the industry itself, is a specific type of restaurant characterized both by its fast food cuisine and by minimal table service. Food served in fast food restaurants typically caters to a " meat-sweet diet" and is offered from a limited menu; is cooked in bulk in advance and kept hot; is finished and packaged to order; and is usually available ready to take away, though seating may be provided. Fast food restaurants are usually part of a restaurant chain or franchise operation, which provisions standardized ingredients and/or partially prepared foods and supplies to each restaurant through controlled supply channels. Arguably the first fast food restaurants originated in the United States with A&W in 1916 and White Castle in 1921. . Today, Filipino-founded fast food chains such as Jollibee, McDonalds, KFC which are multinational corporations with outlets across the globe. Modern commercial fast food is highly processed and prepared on a large scale from bulk ingredients using standardized cooking and production methods and equipment. It is usually rapidly served in cartons or bags or in a plastic wrapping, in a fashion which reduces operating costs by allowing rapid product identification and counting, promoting longer holding time, avoiding transfer of bacteria, and facilitating order fulfillment. In most fast food operations...

Concrete

...STUDY REPORT No. 146 (2005) Reactive Powder Concrete N.P. Lee & D.H. Chisholm The work reported here was funded by Building Research Levy. © BRANZ 2006 ISSN: 0113-3675 Preface The low flexural tensile strength of concrete has a number of undesirable consequences for its performance as an effective building material. These include the necessity for auxiliary steel reinforcement and the requirement for thick-sectioned members that are both aesthetically unappealing and consume significant quantities of aggregates. The aggregates are an increasingly scarce resource in many urban areas. An emerging technology with the potential to overcome these limitations is reactive powder concrete (RPC). RPC is a cold-cast cementitious material in which the mechanical properties of the composite matrix are improved by (i) suppression of the weak interfacial transition zone normally developed around the aggregate through improved particle packing and (ii) refinement of the hydrated paste microstructure by extensive use of pozzolanic silica and elevated temperature curing. Tensile capacity is provided by steel micro-fibres rather than conventional reinforcement. The result is a material with the potential for flexural strength up to 50 MPa and ductility and energy absorption values approaching those of steel. The low and non-connected porosity of RPC also render it extremely durable. RPC offers the possibility of building with concrete using slender members in a ‘steel-like’ ...

Study on Iron Ore Slags

...between iron ore slag and refractories Julien Zimmermann MSc PrograMMeS in engineering Materials Technology (eeigM) Luleå University of Technology Department of Applied Physics and Mechanical Engineering Division of Material Mechanics 2007:224 CIV • ISSN: 1402 - 1617 • ISRN: LTU - EX - - 07/224 - - SE Summary: For the fabrication of iron ore pellets at LKAB (Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara AB), one of the methods used is to sinter the pellets in a rotary kiln. This Kiln has a drift temperature of 1250°C in average. During this process a coating, causing the wear of the refractories materials, is formed, inducing expensive maintenance periods. The aim of this work is to find the reaction that takes place between the Slag and the bricks, in order to find the parameters that have to be changed to improve the bricks lifetime in the kiln. The use of bricks with higher alumina content is one of the solutions, but it is expensive. The influence of Alkalis and especially Na2O has been studied before in inert atmosphere. In this work it will be studied in air as well as the influence of the alumina content of the brick. Experiments were performed in air atmosphere, using powder samples that have been compressed into pellets. The devices used to characterize the reaction and the product of the reaction were: Kanthal furnace, X-ray diffraction (XRD), dilatometer, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry (DSC/TG) in-situ mass spectrometer, Scanning electron microscope (SEM)...

In faded black ink made of soot and gum Arabic mixed with water, an ancient Egyptian scribe has carefully described what he calls a "powder for white and perfect teeth". When mixed with saliva in the mouth, it forms a "clean tooth paste". According to the document, written in the fourth century AD, the ingredients needed for the perfect smile are one drachma of rock salt - a measure equal to one hundredth of an ounce - two drachmas of mint, one drachma of dried iris flower and 20 grains of pepper, all of them crushed and mixed together.  The result is a pungent paste which one Austrian dentist who tried it said made his gums bleed but was a "big improvement" on some toothpaste formulae used as recently as a century ago. The discovery of the formula caused a sensation among Austria's normally sedate dentists when it was disclosed at a dental congress in Vienna. Dr Heinz Neuman, who attended the meeting where the recipe was...
