The book, Powwowing among the Pennsylvania Dutch (2007), by David W. Kriebel, brings the twentieth century practices into focus.Powwowing can be used for more than cures. Finding lost articles or people, good luck, and binding animals or humans are some of the other uses. Kinesics and proxemics are used for healing with powwowers who must see the person needing a cure, although there are cases where some healers can heal remotely. Some procedures are repeated three times for the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost at the end of healings and sometimes during the procedure.
