Scars are a symbol for memories. By thinking about what happened when you received the scar is a way to have a memory of something painful you had to overcome. “Scars” by Daniel Halpern is a poem about remembering that you are strong enough to overcome even the most painful of situations. In the poem Daniel Halpern uses symbol,tone,and diction to show that he says scars are a way to remind us that we are strong. The author uses symbol to show that scars are used to store memories.
