Scrooge’s stingy nature is even more highlighted in the way he reacted to the request of two gentlemen to ask him to donate some money for charity.
That same evening Scrooge receives a chilling visitation from his former partner who now is dead, Jacob Marley.Marley narrates his unfortunate story to him. He has been condemned to wander the Earth with heavy chains , symbolizing his bad deeds, wrapped around him, as a punishment for his greedy and self-serving life that he led.Marley can be considered as a caution sign for Scrooge partly because he informed him about the visit of three spirits, and, partly because he didn’t want Scrooge to end up the same way he did.
