“War Is Swell ...when the Marx Brothers are in it. They'll be out of the trenches by Christmas...if the food doesn't improve” Duck Soup is a story about a small state in financial chaos, the current presadent gets replaced by crazy Rufus, at the same time a neighboring state sends their most incompatent spies, Chicolini, and Pinky to infultrate, and obtain clasivied information, creating utter chaos. I just want to say that in my opionon this the the greatest film the Marx Brothers ever made, being let loosing attacking every and all institions of corupted goverment and war, exposing all withought mersey or fear. It does this so well that he movie itself almost appears to be about something. Sure this movie gets touchy, and a bit racy at times …show more content…
Caligari) is a silent film that transends that of whitch we know , and tries as much as it can to reach out and blow the mind of the audience. Using every tool at their disposal, for the time, to re imagion the idea of a set and look apon it as more then a setting to thrust the viewer hensforth into a state of pure inebration, suficating them with overwelming imersion into the owrld itself. However intead of the imersion this set took it to a compleatly other level with the set itself becomeing almost an indapendent work of art following the abstract style of many famis painters of the past. In its intierety it becomes something more than a set it almost makes the stage a canvis of witch you see the painting of life spring into action, then to sudden hoults with everything inbetween. This moves obvious falt is that its a horrer movie trying to scare, and stupifie however is held back with the limited style of silent films. The stage/painting was used as a way to cover this inconvient fault of the time. Used to invoke disbaleafe and bewilderment rather then fear. With the film attempting to cover its own ass, it leaves little to the imagination often at times leveing me confused, at a loss for words at to what i was seeing, as well as a slow movieng story, for witch I understand is ideal for the time, in a general speaking. All and all this film was the “dances with wolves” to what will would eventualy become more of an “Avatar” version. If this move …show more content…
With much of what wold bes considered “amazing, and timeless comady” actually being very controversial. This and all movies like this need to be approached with what i consider a way of life. To be able to laugh at yourself and appreciate the bad as well as the good everything can be funny, even if someone is in salted by it. Although being controversial, the modern view of the movie has changed a little. The film itself lacks any sort of shock value, but still it is fun to watch and probably always will be. Now playing devils advocate here, for those who don't know Brook’s style doing any and everything to get a laugh with little regards to being “political, and racially correct” however within the craziness of those laughs lie an almost scary realization. Could Brooks almost be too politically correct? With this fast paced comidy Brooks almost comes off showing a display of “reverse racism, a huge bias against religion, and even taking situations to their pinnacle of ridiculousness. However, given all this I am no writer, and I cannot say whether this is good or bad. However I think I can speak for everyone here when I say, it will always be

Social and Cultural Environments

...CHAPTER 4 SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ENVIRONMENTS SUMMARY Culture, a society’s “programming of the mind,” has both a pervasive and changing influence on each national market environment. Global marketers must recognize the influence of culture and be prepared to either respond to it or change it. Human behavior is a function of a person’s own unique personality and that person’s interaction with the collective forces of the particular society and culture in which he or she has lived. In particular, attitudes, values, and beliefs can vary significantly from country to country. Also, differences pertaining to religion, aesthetics, dietary customs, and language and communication can affect local reaction to brands or products as well as the ability of company personnel to function effectively in different cultures. A number of concepts and theoretical frameworks provide insights into these and other cultural issues. Cultures can be classified as high- or low-context; communication and negotiation styles can differ from country to country. Hofstede’s social value typology sheds light on national cultures in terms of power distance, individualism vs. collectivism, masculinity vs. femininity, uncertainty avoidance, and long- versus short-term orientation. By understanding the self-reference criterion, global marketers can overcome the unconscious tendency for perceptual blockage and distortion. Rogers’ classic study on the diffusion of innovations helps explain how products...

They are a result of thoughtful and imaginative planning. Anyone building or managing a brand must carefully develop and implement creative brand strategies. To aid in that planning, three tools or models are helpful. Like the famous Russian nesting “matrioshka” dolls, the three models are inter-connected and become larger and increasing in scope: The first model is a component into the second model; the second model, in turn, is a component into the third model. Combined, the three models provide crucial micro and macro perspectives to successful brand building. Specifically, the three models are as follows, to be described in more detail below: 1. Brand positioning model describes how to establish competitive advantages in the minds...

...RICHARD DAWKINS-The Selfish Gene. Ebook v1.0. 'Who should read this book? Everyone interested in the universe and their place in it.' Jeffrey R. Baylis, Animal Behaviour Our genes made us. We animals exist for their preservation and are nothing more than their throwaway survival machines. The world of the selfish gene is one of savage competition, ruthless exploitation, and deceit. But what of the acts of apparent altruism found in nature-the bees who commit suicide when they sting to protect the hive, or the birds who risk their lives to warn the flock of an approaching hawk? Do they contravene the fundamental law of gene selfishness? By no means: Dawkins shows that the selfish gene is also the subtle gene. And he holds out the hope that our species-alone on earth-has the power to rebel against the designs of the selfish gene. This book is a call to arms. It is both manual and manifesto, and it grips like a thriller. The Selfish Gene, Richard Dawkins's brilliant first book and still his most famous, is an international bestseller in thirteen languages. For this new edition there are two major new chapters. 'learned, witty, and very well written...exhilaratingly good.' Sir Peter Medawar, Spectator Richard Dawkins is a Lecturer in Zoology at Oxford University and a Fellow of Mew College, and the author of The Blind Watchmaker.
