The Journey: Kreeft’s Purpose I believe Kreeft’s purpose in chapter one could be several items or subjects, but the one that had meaning to me was the reality of contentment. He was right in saying we could be content, but that doesn’t necessarily mean happy. I believe he was trying to make a point of this by explaining the cow being content. There are many items that keep us from exploring our reality. The proverbial blinders on our perception of reality can keep a journey from happening. The author introduced the scene with Epicurus explaining a philosophy about self then turns to the author lies to him explaining that he should stay, eat and be merry.
