When reading through pages 181-84 of William A. Henry III's, In Defense of Elitism, he points out and argues against an egalitarian movement in America’s academies. He urges in his final statement that if we try to lift everyone into higher education, that ultimately we just lower the academic bar. It is a reasonable issue and one he explained well, but the solution given oversteps boundaries and crosses into authoritarian territory. He supports some of his claims with faulty logic in an appeal to the people(ad populum), or simply gives ideas that just won't work.
