Summary: Prescription Drug Abuse In Tennessee

Like many small towns in Tennessee (or large cities for that matter) our police department has dealt with it’s city having high drug traffic, in particular, an abuse of prescription pills. For years, Tennessee has ranked highly nationwide in prescription drug abuse. Police cannot stop drug use, or drugs from entering their towns, but a goal of all police departments is to have less drugs on the streets tomorrow than there are today.

Using creative problem solving to find new tactics for combating the drug problem led to improved results (Bethel University, 2013). Detectives and other members of our police department came together to brainstorm new potential strategies for gaining some control on the amount of drug use in our city. Weeks
