...Guidelines For Summer Project IMT Institute of Management Technology GHAZIABAD Guidelines, Procedures and Rules for Summer Project This manual gives guidelines, procedures and rules for the Summer Project. Objective The objective of having a Summer Project Report is to allow the students to organize and report the learning gained in the program and the summer project. The Summer Project Report should be a substantive contribution to the knowledge through integration of literature review and methodology developed pertinent to the understanding and resolution of management problems, and the empirical work done therein. The Summer Project Report should demonstrate competence in using or developing a model or a set of hypotheses, collecting and interpreting data, reaching conclusions and drawing implications for managerial practices. It should also highlight the impact of actions in one area or function, on the other area or functions in the organisation. The recommendations made in the Summer Project Report should be in both quantitative (costs and benefits) as well as qualitative terms, as far as possible. It is pertinent to note that the Summer Project Report represents a visible concrete output and would, therefore, have demonstrable potential enabling individuals to pursue further work on the theme by way of Ph.D. programme. ...Banking Power-Pack – June 2015 BANKING - 2015 JUNE June 1 • IRDAI removes cap on business from one insurer for banks. IRDAI has done away with the capping of insurance business from one insurer by a bank in its latest draft. As compared to the previous draft that mandated banks to cap business from one insurer to 50%, IRDAI has removed this cap. This would mean that those insurers without a bank partner or promoter would still have to wait longer to get business from bancassurance. The regulator has said that an insurer can have tie-ups with up to three insurers in any line of business-life, non-life or health. Background Presently, banks are allowed to tie-up as a corporate agent with one life, one non-life and one standalone health insurer. Hence, insurers who entered the market later did not have any bank partner. • FinMin, RBI set up panel on reducing cash transactions. To reduce cash transactions in the economy and boost the usage of cards and point of sales (PoS) terminals, the Union finance ministry and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have set up a committee to look at ways to encourage use of plastic money. The committee has representatives from National Payments Corporation of India, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank. Background RBI data at the end of December 2014 showed 1.05 million PoS machines in the country, whereas there are over 500 mn debit cards and at least 20 mn credit cards. In 2013-14, according to a Boston Consulting Group report, the number of cash...

...Summer Internship Report Organization Capacity Management, Citibank Analyzing branch banking services and operations for improving process turnaround time and operational efficiency resulting in customer delight. Saryu Kamra & Anubha Mathur 7/14/2011 ABSTRACT This project on Branch Banking Operations attempts to trace and map the branch banking processes end to end and identify all non value added activities and wastages in terms of time so that the Turn Around Time for Customers as well as time required for completion of any transaction or instruction can be reduced considerably. The data collection was divided into two parts, first at individual level and then at the process level. For the former, a chart was prepared for different individuals to map their daily activities and the time taken for these so as to make a comparative analysis vis-à-vis their efficiency in terms of the time spent with the customer and processing further. For the latter, a time and motion study was carried out to map the various Branch activities which were broken down to the micro level to analyze the wastages and superfluous activities involved in the processing of different instructions with the help of Value Stream Maps. The wasteful activities were then identified using the Lean Model introduced by Toyota Production System and classified into seven different categories. These were then individually analyzed and the extent of their effects on various activities and processes were analyzed...

...far without experience. I applied for the Optimum program so that I could participate in a series of STEM career oriented seminars and workshops that helped me build my brand and learn the importance of internships. During one of these seminars I learned about the INROADS program, a non profit organization that places minorities into internships at a corporate level. I participated in this program and I was taught how to interview and given several mock interviews. Once I completed all of these interviews I passed onto the corporate interview phase where I interview with major companies like IBM and AT&T. During the interviews I learned about both positions and at the time, Project Management/Frond End Developer and Software Engineer both sounded like good positions. I know long term I wanted to do something with mobile application development so the contribution of both positions would put me closer to my goals. After my interview I was offered positions at both companies so of course I had to decide between the two. With a five day grace period a decision had to be made quickly. Being a Software Engineer would provide me with the skills I needed to do mobile application development on the back end, in other words, “coding”. The role of a Front End Developer or Project Manager would assist me in developing the user interface or user experience of mobile applications. It would also help me learn the different methodologies and approaches to application development. The...

Organizational Outcomes: Intern’s higher satisfaction as well as supervisor’s satisfaction according to trainees’ performance and high retention rate of interns. In this project, I will explore intern’s satisfaction with company’s internship training system as well as supervisor/manager’s satisfaction of intern’s performance. In particular, I will focus on how the training system influence the retention rate as well as the effectiveness of the program it self.
