A report or account is any informational work (usually of writing, speech, television, or film) made with the specific intention of relaying information or recounting certain events in a widely presentable form.
Written reports are documents which present focused, salient content to a specific audience. Reports are often used to display the result of an experiment, investigation, or inquiry. The audience may be public or private, an individual or the public in general. Reports are used in government, business, education, science, and other fields.
Reports use features such as graphics, images, voice, or specialized vocabulary in order to persuade that specific audience to undertake an action. One of the most common formats for presenting reports is IMRAD: Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion. ...Leaving the Hive When John Replogle (MBA '93) became CEO of Burt's Bees in 2006, sales had been growing by over 30% per year over the previous four years across multiple, increasingly diversified channels of distribution in the United States and abroad. The company's brand leadership in the natural personal care category—itself growing by 15% per year over the same period—was secure, despite growing competition. Replogle's mantra was that all this momentum gave Burt's Bees a unique opportunity to bring natural personal care to the forefront of mainstream personal care in the coming years, a revolution that would be consistent with the original vision of Burt's Bees founder Roxanne Quimby, who thought that the natural and earth-friendly products would ultimately reach "everyone, everywhere." Replogle liked to provocatively claim that Burt's Bees wanted to become the "Starbucks of personal care," in reference to the niche coffee" brand that won over its category by imposing superior product expectations and a renewed sense of meaning in consumption. Achieving this ambitious goal, however, would require many changes for the Maine-born brand that carried an anti-commercial image of friendly quirkiness. Already, rapid growth had propelled Burt's products into mainstream outlets such as CVS and Walgreen pharmacies. Under Replogle's leadership, the product range would be changing rapidly as well. It would still star the brand's classics, including beeswax lip balm and lip shimmers...

Nano Technology in Automotive Industry

...Nano technology in the automotive industry:- ABSTRACT What is Nanotechnology? Nanotechnology is the engineering of materials on the scale of 1 nanometer (nm) to 100 nm, a nanometer being 1 billionth of a meter. At this level, the basic physical laws governing macro objects undergo a drastic change. A macro particle is a cluster of atoms arranged together in random order. The formation of the structure is left to nature, and control over the properties of the material is difficult. Nanotechnology, on the other hand, is a bottom-up approach where materials are created by placing individual atoms together. This decreases the randomness in the structural formation, enabling significant control over the properties of the material. Mechanical properties such as strength, ductility, and resilience can all be incorporated into one material. Currently, nanotechnology is functioning as an enabling technology. It is being used to enhance the properties of existing materials. This is largely attributed to the fact that the technology has clearly not been understood and there is still much more to nanotechnology than meets the microscopic eye. It is rare for a single technology to have the power to dramatically influence almost every major industry in the world. Nanotechnology falls into this category and offers fundamentally new capabilities to architect a broad array of novel materials, composites and structures on a molecular scale. This technology has the potential to drastically...

...In Other Words This book addresses the need for a systematic approach to the training of translators and provides an explicit syllabus which reflects some of the main intricacies involved in rendering a text from one language into another. It explores the relevance of some of the key areas of modern linguistic theory and illustrates how an understanding of these key areas can guide and inform at least some of the decisions that translators have to make. It draws on insights from current research in such areas as lexical studies, text linguistics and pragmatics to maintain a constant link between language, translation, and the social and cultural environment in which both language and translation operate. In Other Words examines various areas of language, ranging from the meaning of single words and expressions to grammatical categories and cultural contexts. Firmly grounded in modern linguistic theory, the book starts at a simple level and grows in complexity by widening its focus gradually. The author explains with clarity and precision the concepts and theoretical positions explored within each chapter and relates these to authentic examples of translated texts in a variety of languages, although a knowledge of English is all that is required to understand the examples presented. Each chapter ends with a series of practical exercises which provide the translator with an opportunity to test the relevance of the issues discussed. This combination of theoretical discussion and...

It is mainly concerned with the way in which a society chooses to employ its scarce resources which have alternative uses, for the production of goods for present and future consumption. Political economy is another name for economics. “Polis” in Greek means a State. The early writers used the term “Political Economy” for the management of the State. A person who runs a family is expected to make the best use of the income of the household. Similarly, the State is expected to get the maximum benefit for the society. ...Introduction Packages Limited was born out of a dream to set up in Pakistan an industry of excellence based on local raw materials and talent. In July 1954 while on a visit to Sweden, Syed Babar Ali the first Managing Director and now Advisor to Packages Limited, negotiated the setting up of a packaging plant in Lahore with the collaboration of AB Akerlund and Rausing (Sweden). Packages Ltd. is one of the most famous and successful companies in packaging industry. It is situated at the south side of Lahore city in the industrial area., Packages emerged as a company geared to provide solutions. Sprawled over 105 acres, Packages is a dynamic example of cross-functional integration of various processes. Initially, Packages helped the consumer industry by providing packaging solutions in the form of cartons for cigarette, tea, confectionery, pharmaceutical and soap industries. However, supply of paper and board by local mills did not meet the quality requirements of the customers. As a result, in 1965 backward integration became a necessity to sustain quality output when a Paper and Board mill was put up. This happened because of strong belief in self-sufficiency and quality product development as an inherent part of the process. It is sole largest company, which is serving the 35% need of a county in its category. Today, Packages Ltd. is considered among the leading, fully integrated packaging complexes in Asia.. It was the dream of Syed Baber Ali to set up in Pakistan an industry...

...*** (A) IMPORTANCE OF MARKETING Marketing is a very important aspect in business since it contributes greatly to the success of the organization. Production and distribution depend largely on marketing. Marketing covers advertising, promotions, public relations, and sales. Since the goal of marketing is to make the product or service widely known and recognized to the market, marketers must be creative in their marketing activities. In this competitive nature of many businesses, getting the product noticed is not that easy. Strategically, the business must be centered on the customers more than the products. Although good and quality products are also essential, the buying public still has their personal preferences. If you target more of their needs, they will come back again and again and even bring along recruits. If you push more on the product and disregard their wants and the benefits they can get, you will lose your customers in no time. The sad thing is that getting them back is the hardest part. 1. Marketing Promotes Product Awareness to the Public Getting the product or service recognized by the market is the primary goal of marketing. No business possibly ever thought of just letting the people find out about the business themselves, unless you have already established a reputation in the industry. But if you are a start-out company, the only means to be made known is to advertise and promote but the important thing is that product and company information is...

...Lobschat, L., Zinnbauer, M. A., Pallas, F., & Joachimsthaler, E. (2013). Why Social Currency Becomes a Key Driver of a Firm's Brand Equity – Insights from the Automotive Industry. Long Range Planning, 46(PLS applications in strategic management: Partial Least Squares modeling in strategy research), 125-148. doi:10.1016/j.lrp.2012.11.004 Introduction In the past decade, managers have endeavored to build brands by creating a strong identity and conveying this identity through consistently managing relevant touch points with customers (e.g., Aaker and Joachimsthaler, 2000; Keller and Lehmann, 2003). To this end, managers are striving to better understand consumer behavior and positively influence consumers' brand perceptions through marketing initiatives (e.g., Keller, 1993). However, the direction of influence on a brand's perception and image has become increasingly bilateral. Today, consumers are no longer simply “receivers” of company- and brand-related information. Instead, they operate as “senders” of this information, e.g., by giving brand recommendations, by expressing criticism, or by sharing information with others (Hennig-Thurau et al., 2010). For this reason, managers no longer have exclusive control over information circulating about a company or brand. Consumers therefore play an important role in forming a company's or brand's perception and value in the marketplace (Keller, 2007). Exchange of information about companies and brands between consumers is not...
