A SWOT Analysis is an internal assessment done for an organization to understand where it stands. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats. The organization for which I will be conducting a SWOT Analysis for is the military. The military has a variety of strengths amongst its ranks to help with the day to day operations. Although news reports say differently, one of the military’s strengths is that the military has adequate financial resources available to them, along with having proprietary technology and patents that other countries are trying to catch on to. As stated in an online news article written by Matt Cox, “The Army has awarded BAE Systems a $43 million cooperative agreement extension to lead the Army Research Laboratory’s Micro Autonomous Systems and Technology Collaborative Technology Alliance for another five years. As a result, the company will have a significant role working with the MAST Alliance’s team of scientists from the U.S. Army, academia, and industry as it advances bio-inspired micro-robotics technology to extend the remote sensing capability of U.S. ground forces, according to a BAE Systems release.” Although it may seem that the Department of Defense (D.O.D.) is tightening its budget in other areas, it is clear that the D.O.D will go to extreme measures to maintain its high visibility in the war fighting platform of the world. With strengths come weaknesses, and like any other company or organization, the military has internal weaknesses as well. One weakness due to the longevity of the wars taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan has been the budget. “Poor or negative cash flow from operations, including low or negative profits, resulting in an inability to service debt or fund needed programs.” (Abraham, 2012) America has been in a deficit for some time now, and it has become an issue of how to fund our

...Have you ever been bullied? Has it happened to your peers or have you just seen or heard about it on TV? Many people have different opinions on what bullying is. Some say it is kicking or hitting someone, others say it’s when you say mean things or call someone names. All of these things are correct, as they are different ways you can be bullied. However, they are not the official definition of bullying. Everyone has a different opinion, but the definition I follow is: Anything that a person does on purpose to upset or hurt another person –(the victim). The victim is the person that gets bullied. To be honest, bullying is just like a disease because you don’t make it happen and it does not just go away overnight. Bullying even makes you feel like you are sick or something is wrong with you! This , however, isn’t true at all. It is not your fault if you get bullied. Did you know that 900 thousand children get bullied everyday in Canada? Out of 5.2 million students! That means that 1 out of 5 students get bullied everyday! And people say that Canadians are too nice to be bullies! Many people are unaware of the bullying that happens around them. That just shows how bad it is. Here are some myths and facts about bullying: Myth number 1: “Bullying is just a stage, a normal part of life.” However, fact is – bullying is not a “normal” or socially acceptable behavior. We give bullies power by our acceptance of this behavior. Myth number 2: “If I tell...

...The original marketing strategy worked for them for a number of years. As the times changed Mervyns failed to keep up with it. Mervyns, the seller for all sorts of apparel, housewares, and other department store favorites began to crumble from the ground up. Much of the company's failure was pinned on three different firms that bought the company off of target. It was said that instead of boosting the company's image it destroyed it financially. The Firms; Cerberus Capital Management, Sun Capital Partners, and Lubert-Alder, that bought Mervyns stripped its real estate assets, upped the price of rent. This put the company in eight hundred million dollars of debt taking four hundred million in personal cash (Thorton). In retrospect the poor money management was just one flake in the snowball crashing into Mervyns. As the brand was closing doors left and right, Mervyns tried to change its marketing environment by opening some stores in undeserved markets such as Hispanic markets. However this demographic move happened to late. Mervyns had a great idea in its hands, the company was able to create its own niche in the market, the store had lower priced merchandised compared to their competitors because they sold items that were deemed second had, due to minor undetectable flaws (mervyns). As the marketing environments changed, Mervyns didn't. The niche market that they had originally created became to large of a market, diluting the identity of the company. Trying to target to many...

...Marketing Plan: SWOT Analysis Overview I. Product or Service Description: The objective is to provide high-quality child care services that meet the varied needs of middle-income families. The biggest challenges’ facing all working parents is finding safe and affordable child care. Parents want to feel confident that their children are receiving quality child care while they are at work. Too often, parents are forced to make their child care decisions based solely on what is available and affordable in the area, discounting other considerations that affect quality. All children deserve a stable and healthy child care environment. Families should not have to compromise their choice of child care based solely on cost. NH Basic Needs and Livable Wage report states that child care costs have increased by 88 percent over the last five years, or about 14 percent per year. The child care market is competitive for higher income families but few offer services for families of middle –income. Families of middle-income have very few choices when it comes to selecting child care. Low-income families are provided opportunities through federally funded programs such as Head Start and are support by state child care subsidizes. Higher income families can afford the cost of private funded child care. I. SWOT Analysis Strengthens: * There is a formal structure of shared governance comprised of parents, agency board members and community representation. ...
