Sympathy For Darry In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton

In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton we feel more sympathy for Darry rather than Ponyboy. Darry had to miss part of his education and he had to work very hard without appreciation from the rest of his family. One reason why we feel more sympathy for Darry is because Darry had to miss his education even though he had a sports scholarship. For instance on page 16 it says “But we just didn’t have enough money to go to college even with the athletic scholarship he won”. A reason why this shows that we are more sympathetic for Darry is in view of the fact he worked tirelessly, put in his best efforts, and time. He still did not accomplish what he wanted. He deserves sympathy for this because in the meantime he had to juggle a family, school,
