Synthetic Diamonds for Nanotechnology Diamonds may serve another purpose other than being fashionable ornaments. Scientists at the Ohio University have experimented how electrons flowed through diamonds. What they found was that electrons passing through diamond performed a magnetic effect wave, similar to the wave performed at sports games. Known as spin, this effect may have the capability of transmitting data through computer circuits with the use of synthetic diamond wiring. With characteristics such as being “hard, transparent, electrically insulating, impervious to environmental contamination, resistant to acid and does not hold heat as semiconductors do”, diamonds become a great candidate for spin to occur. It was concluded that diamond remitted spin better than the metals found in computers today. Titled, “Could Diamonds be a Computer’s Best Friend?”, I found the quality of the information presented in this article to be informative and mentally captivating. The idea that synthetic diamond wiring could one day replace the wiring in computers circuits thus enabling a faster and more powerful computer can only leave the imagination to wonder what else can be used to transmit information. The article not only explained the benefits of synthetic diamond wiring but also introduces a new frontier for spin and diamonds. I would recommend this article as an informational resource for those who want information on or are interested in synthetic diamonds and computers. I found that the article’s purpose succeeded by informing the relationships between spins and diamonds. I also felt that the article was precise on the information written and would be able to serve as a starting point of research being conducted on this particular topic.

One way of doing this is to focus on specialized, or niche, products. The conceptual models used in this study provided a framework for specialization within trade. The trade theories examined were 1) Ricardo’s Comparative Advantage Theory (Ricardo, 1817), 2) Heckscher-Ohlin Trade Theory of Factor Proportions (Heckscher & Ohlin, 1991), 3) Posner’s Technology Trade Gap Theory (Posner, 1961), 4) Vernon’s Theory of the Product Life Cycle of Trade (Vernon, 1966), and 5) Porter’s Model of Competitive Advantage (Porter, 1998). Each of these trade theories predicts specialization as a result of trade. This means that as trade barriers decrease, a country’s resources will focus on those processes in which it has a competitive advantage.
